[Bug 1925786] [NEW] installer of 21.04 not allowing to use dot symbol in AD administrator username

2021-04-23 Thread Evgeniy Dolgikh
Public bug reported:

So I just tried to install ubuntu 21.04 and checkout how new Active Directory
integration works.
During installation I checked options to use Active Directory features and on
next screen I has ben asked to enter AD domain name and AD administrator
credentials.

In my users in ad always have dot symbol in their logins e.g. j.doe,
administrators also, but installer displays error message and not
allowing enter my administrator user credentials.

I think is a bug cause Active Directory has no restrictions for dots in
usernames.

[Bug 1915541] [NEW] mtp device connection fails on copying file with unsupported name

2021-02-12 Thread Evgeniy Permyakov
Public bug reported:

On copying a bunch of files with one file having name with unsupported
character by my mtp device (Huawei mediapad) copying stop progressing on
this file, but hangs quite some time before reporting. After that the
connection with mtp device appears to be damaged, i.e. I cannot browse
the filesystems on the device from dolphin.

It seems that copying a banch of files is critical, since on copying one
there is an immidiate informative error reported and the connection
appears to remain operational.

[Bug 1896775] [NEW] sddm silently fails to open login screen if no good OpenGL

2020-09-23 Thread Evgeniy Permyakov
Public bug reported:

After updating my system (ubuntu 20.04) I ended in situation with sddm
running, but without displaying login screen. Manually starting X in a
tty2 let me google for the issue and find old ticket about sddm behaving
bad if no valid opengl implementation available. Quick check with
glxinfo showed that SGI implementation was used instead of NVIDIA one.
After dist-upgrade kernel image and modules were rebuilt and sddm
started normally.

I understand that in this case sddm failed to start due to unfortunate
circumstances resulting in invalid system state. However, in this state
it is not possible for inexperienced users to google for the problem.
Please, consider at least better diagnostics for the situation until
upstream fixes the issue. Spoiler: the original ticket is from 2017

[Bug 1886803] [NEW] error updating ubuntu to version 19.10

Public bug reported:

when trying to upgrade from ubuntu version 18.04.4 to version 19.10, an error

Failed to calculate system update. An unsolvable problem occurred while

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2019-06-29 Thread Evgeniy Check
Hello anybody. Yes a has same issue too - it happens because an of running
application was hung up. System detect it and show pop - up message in the
middle of screen about waiting or force closing hung application. More often it
happens during debugging an application, when break point was raised and
debugger waiting user action so system count this application as hang. Some
times it happens so system detect hung application but some reason can't show
popup message over hang application. It looks so like wrote on first post -
blocking mouse input at any windows except application bar and gnome dashboard.
In some application keyboard become locked too, for exaple in Eclipse. Usually
i switch to each application and try to interact with it by keyboard typing. If
i suspect application hang, i run or switch to gnome-terminal and use command
top to detect process id of hang application. Then i found it i use
 sudo kill
As is hang application was closed - normal mouse input will restored.

But main question conclude to how to change reaction of system on hanged
application - turn off annoing modal dialog. This dialog so bore me a
lot. Each time when break point occur during debug process, Unubtu pop
up this modal dialog and lock all mouse input in other apps, include
debugger too. I need to switch debugging app and press "Wait" in this
popup message, some times it need to do more than once. Then I return to
debugger continue work.

Some one know how to turn off ubuntu hang application detection?

[Bug 1722478] Re: Two-finger scrolling no longer works after resuming from suspend

2018-12-06 Thread Evgeniy Zhabotinskiy
Thinkpad T540p, same as comment #86: reloading psmouse fixes the problem until
next suspend, setting psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=0 fixes it for good.
Extra note: i2c_i801 isn't blacklisted, but does not load by itself either.
Having it loaded (including before psmouse) seems to have no effect on
multitouch getting messed up on resume.

[Bug 405294] Re: A2DP Bluetooth audio skips terribly ["Skipping NNN us (= MMM bytes) in audio stream"]

2018-03-26 Thread Evgeniy Polyakov
@vanvugt I've compiled and installed the latest pulseaudio with and without
ubuntu patches, and this does not help. Checked with fedora live cd and things
work without any problems.
Changing @audio group to have rt permissions as well as tuning pulseaudio in
its config (setting nice, rtprio, large memory limits and so on) does not seem
to change anything.

Getting, that I currently have the pre-latest (5.48-0ubuntu3) bluez and
pulseaudio, and problem persists, can it be related to something else?

desktop is problem in this case is a little bit different, it does not
skip terribly, but once per 2-5 seconds, while laptop mentioned
yesterday is indeed in trouble.

ubuntu-bug refuses to work if there is third-party software installed.

[Bug 405294] Re: A2DP Bluetooth audio skips terribly ["Skipping NNN us (= MMM bytes) in audio stream"]

2018-03-25 Thread Evgeniy Polyakov
Hi

I have this problem both on 16.04 and 17.10, and it is NOT related to
wifi, since on my 16.04 desktop there is no wifi module at all. I tried
installing 5.49 blues on 16.04 host, it does not seem to help, but I can
not be 100% sure since I did not check whether exact new bt service was
operating.

17.10 contrary is macbook laptop with BCM4360 adapter and wl driver, but
disabling wifi and removing the module does not help.

Rebooting 17.10 with new audio.conf/hcid.conf and using blueman to pair
seems to help, but that can be a coincidence.

What steps you want me to make to provide more debug information?

issues with it.

Maybe, Virtio and QXL have common parts. Try VirtualBox or VmWare.

You can add this line in the /etc/default/grub:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="break=init"

$ sudo update-grub

But after that you'll have to remove this line manually from initramfs
environment:
(initramfs) mount -o rw,remount /root
(initramfs) chroot /root bash
# vi /etc/default/grub
# update-grub

Or, just do a snapshot with virt-manager beforehand.

[Bug 1746579] Re: A boxes instead of a Cyrillic chars in VTs

2018-03-04 Thread Evgeniy Yanyuk
It will be difficult to cope with it remotely :)

So, lets start from the beginning. Reboot your machine and prevent grub from
booting. Add the 'break=init' command to your kernel line and continue booting.
You'll get the initramfs command line. At this moment your console should be
already localized. Try this:
(initramfs) LANG=uk_UA.UTF-8 chroot /root date

If you don't get localized date, check that these files exist in your initramfs
environment:
/scripts/init-top/console_setup
/etc/default/console-setup
/etc/console-setup/Uni2-Fixed16.psf.gz

To check if font installs, try to execute:
(initramfs) setfont /root/usr/share/consolefonts/Uni2-Fixed14.psf.gz
and
(initramfs) /scripts/init-top/console_setup

Tell us the result.

[Bug 1732422] [NEW] glue-sprite: Inconsistent dependencies

2017-11-15 Thread Evgeniy Egorov
Public bug reported:

It's about the glue-sprite package (sudo apt install glue-sprite).
The latest version of glue-sprite (0.11.1) does not work due to the dependency:
Python package (/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/glue-0.11.1.egg-info) depends on
Jinja2>=2.7,<2.8 (requires.txt) but there is no appropriate version

/etc/apt$ sudo dpkg -l | grep jinj
ii python3-jinja2 2.8-1 all
small but fast and easy to use stand-alone template engine

So the dependancy is "Jinja2>=2.7,<2.8" but the latest version is 2.8-1

[Bug 1565542] Re: init scripts don't set console fonts

2016-04-19 Thread Evgeniy Yanyuk
Thanks for spending your time for this. You can switch to any text console
(Ctrl+Alt+F[1-6]), and run:
LANG=ru_RU.UTF8 date
I suppose, you'll see white boxes instead day of week and month.

[Bug 813634] Re: Notifications not shown; instead warning + error + program aborts

2015-02-02 Thread Evgeniy Trifonov
IMPORTANT: I'm on Utopic and installed it for Maverick version:

sudo add-apt-repository deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sagod/ppa/ubuntu maverick
main
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tips-applet

Fix not important, because indicator-fortune
(launchpad.net/~thebernmeister/+archive/ubuntu/ppa) do task of app too
(askubuntu.com/a/503974/189143), but ubuntu-tips-applet abandoned and
not actual.

[Bug 1292290] Re: Window manager keybindings don't work after reboot

2014-10-19 Thread Evgeniy Fitsner
It sounds awesome , but the most easy way - to change override option to
false (double click on override), then change back to true(double click
againe) and all will be working fine without any XSLT transformations
and other tricks :)

[Bug 1292290] Re: Window manager keybindings don't work after reboot

2014-10-08 Thread Evgeniy Fitsner
The root cause of the bug, that you should set and save override
option to true (by default it's bugly displaying as true but it's not
so), and only ater that you can change your hotkeys, because if you
don't set this option your changes will be owerriten after reboot.

** Attachment added: This option should be set as true again, only after this
you could save your settings

[Bug 992706] Re: hotkeys don't work after switching keyboard layout

2012-09-12 Thread Evgeniy Savichev
The same problem over all software under Ububntu.
What's the problem:
When I bind for example Ctrl+Alt+L and switch to russian keyboard layout -
hotkey doesn't work
But if I bind Ctrl+Alt+Д (russian letter on the same key) - hotkey works in
russian but doesn't in english

I suppose, that binding is being done by character code, not key code
(scancode which is assidned to any key on keyboard) and this is wrong.

IMHO Hotkey relates to fingers movement but not to first letter of word
so it has to be locale independent.

[Bug 1004494] Re: Job not run message after any attempt to run a job using bconsole

2012-05-31 Thread Evgeniy
Exactly. This is a usable though not very easy workaround because you
need to modify every parameter in command line.

This is the decision from the Bacula bug tracker administrator:

It looks like your system or Bacula build is broken. Who build the
binaries?

By the way, I am building and running Bacula on Ubuntu 12.04, and it
works fine for me.

-
And yes, I think you need to report this to Ubuntu's package maintainer.

I am closing this ticket, because it seems to me that it is caused by a
 bad build.

[Bug 1004494] [NEW] Job not run message after any attempt to run a job using bconsole

2012-05-25 Thread Evgeniy
Public bug reported:

Job not run message after any attempt to run a job using console.
A job still can be run if run like:

 * run job=jobname yes
Steps To Reproduce * run

It shows me the job parameters and asks: yes/mod/no?

Whether I enter yes or mod, it answers me Job not run.
Additional Information The problem may be related to the director or to the
bconsole.
I cannot run a job using bat too because of a bat's bug.

I filed the bug here: http://bugs.bacula.org/view.php?id=1873
and got the decision that the bug is because of a bad build and it is not
present in the main source tree.

[Bug 886404] [NEW] Regression bug: deja-dup doesn't scheduled backup

2011-11-04 Thread Evgeniy Kirov
Public bug reported:

I've been using deja-dup since 11.04, I've upgraded to 11.10 and now I
have to run backup manually because the application doesn't do this
automatically.

Automatic backup option is checked, I also tried to reset all deja-
dup's settings with dconf-editor and clear my backup destination folder
— no result. I still have to click Back Up Now every day.

[Bug 791972] Re: Sound freezes with bluetooth headset after updating on 2.6.39 kernel

2011-08-10 Thread Evgeniy Dyakonov
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected natty running-unity

** Description changed:

As I upgraded to 2.6.39-0 kernel, bluetooth audio (via a2dp) stopped
working properly. It was working fine in 2.6.38-8.

My headphones are detected and configured by pulse, but the audio skips
as if it's spending half of each second paused. Music is buffered so
that after I click stop on audioplayer (or other sound source) the audio
  continues until it's caught up.

It seems, that single solution is go back on 2.6.38-8 for now.
