[Bug 1263540] Re: Apt-get reports NO_PUBKEY gpg error for keys that are present in trusted.gpg.

2015-02-22 Thread EvilSupahFly
So, if I understand the response from the gpg-mailing-list correctly,
the limit is 40 keys in total, essentially? Is there a way to increase
that without mucking about with the source?

I started getting the "gpg: keyblock resource resource limit" error
after adding a few testing PPAs related to Kali, but I don't have any
zero-length files to remove as they are all in use.

To fix this, I guess I would have to remove the PPAs and their keys, or
create some kind of specialized chroot or VM, which, I guess isn't so
bad, really, but it's a bit of a pain.

doesn't support kernels higher than 3.16.x, and I'm running 4.0.4.

[Bug 1155561] Re: Unity Launcher sometimes fails to reveal on mouse move (autohide)

2013-09-28 Thread EvilSupahFly
I'm having the same problem. I tried to "reset" the launcher by
disabling autohide then re-enabling it, but it didn't help. Only thing
that works for me is hitting the "Super" key which my Dell mistakenly
labled with the Windows logo.

[Bug 1210814] [NEW] Issues with WINE on Beta Saucy

2013-08-10 Thread EvilSupahFly
Public bug reported:

Testing out Saucy, and having package dependency issues with WINE. Tried
to reinstall, but that fails. When I try to install, APT complains about
unmet dependencies, and when I try to meet the requirements manually, it
complains about more, then eventually complains about conflicts between
things it said were required earlier.

Terminal output log: http://pastebin.com/R6tAnKC2

I can't even do build-dep without errors, making me think twice about
building from Source:

root@optiplex:~# apt-get build-dep wine1.5
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Picking 'wine1.6' as source package instead of 'wine1.5'
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libgphoto2-2-dev : Depends: libgphoto2-2 (= 2.4.14-2.3ubuntu2) but
2.5.2-0ubuntu2 is to be installed
 libsane-dev : Depends: libtiff5-dev but it is not going to be installed
   Depends: libgphoto2-6-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Build-dependencies for wine1.5 could not be satisfied.

I've tried running APT for "wine", "wine1.4", "wine1.5" and "wine1.6"
with the same result every time. APT says something is missing, and when
I try to install that something it says it can't because something ELSE
is missing, and it keeps going around like that: Something is missing
but I can't install it because it conflicts with something else that's
required but missing.

** Affects: wine1.4 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

How well will this patch work with the 1.7x branch?

The staging version looks good. I'm going to test it this weekend.

[Bug 1489855] Re: Change to mount sequence order breaks persistence on casper-rw partitions

2018-01-19 Thread EvilSupahFly
On ext4, the journal is written to the same location over and over
again, which can have a seriously negative impact on the lifespan of the
flash memory. If you want your USB stick to last longer, consider using
ext2 instead because it doesn't use journaling. Otherwise, well done
Pankaj!

[Bug 554307] Re: linux-boot-prober yields wrong uuid for kernel root parameter

2016-01-19 Thread EvilSupahFly
Yesterday, I installed KALI beside my existing Ubuntu 15.04, and I'm
still seeing this issue. When I ran 'update-grub' from Ubuntu, all menu
options boot Ubuntu but with problems. When I ran 'update-grub' in KALI,
everything changes to KALI but also with problems.

I have one common dedicated boot partition which loads the respective
Kali or Ubuntu partitions with Kali being on a completely different HD:

$ blkid
/dev/sda1: LABEL="BOOT" UUID="883242e7-e8da-40d2-aab7-40a2f771aa6b" TYPE="ext4"
PARTUUID="fa43222a-01"
/dev/sda3: UUID="5bb6dc47-4b57-4610-9e4d-6d4e604a171f" TYPE="swap"
PARTUUID="fa43222a-03"
/dev/sda4: LABEL="UBUNTU" UUID="dcd42ae2-281e-4101-9d64-fb0301c6eb37"
TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="fa43222a-04"
/dev/sdb1: LABEL="KALI" UUID="c5f8b7c2-82b6-4c22-a69e-6b4954ee5d5f" TYPE="ext4"
PARTUUID="d60d1859-01"
/dev/sdc1: LABEL="HOME" UUID="8d6dae46-274c-4401-89dd-26c536549ebd" TYPE="ext4"
PARTUUID="e7e0802f-01"

To fix this, I had to manually change the UUID's in /boot/grub to
reflect Ubuntu and Kali userland respectively.

We've all been annoyed by the ontological paradox at times, but without it,
we never would have made such important scientific discoveries as
transparent aluminium. To learn more about the ontological paradox, consult
your local library, then go back in time and turn out to be the author of
the book your younger self just read.

[Bug 554307] Re: linux-boot-prober yields wrong uuid for kernel root parameter

2016-08-02 Thread EvilSupahFly
Marking grub.cfg read only doesn't work - I tried that at first.

I make a backup copy of my grub.cfg before doing kernel updates, run the
updates and update-grub as normal, then compare the changes to the
backup, and manually re-edit where needed to ensure smooth booting -
before I ever boot a new kernel, and so far, I haven't had any problems.

Part of my final solution ("Final Solution") was to create a dedicated
boot partition, install grub2 to it, allow it to run update-grub to
write the changes, run blkid to get the correct UUIDs, then manually
edit grub.cfg to correct the UUIDs referenced incorrectly to the ones
they should have been.

Here's my grub.cfg (in part), starting at about line 149, which I
modified using the above approach, and which allows me to boot between
Ubuntu and Kali, complete with the "safe mode" option for each:
