[Bug 2067945] Re: Restart after resume from suspend

2024-06-15 Thread FM33
I tried "systemctl suspend" and it reproduced the issue right away. It
must be the command that gnome shell's menu is triggering. So, I will
keep using pm-suspend as a workaround until the issue is fixed.

[Bug 2067945] Re: Restart after resume from suspend

2024-06-14 Thread FM33
I will need to test it longer to be sure, but the issue seems not to
happen when suspending using "sudo pm-suspend" command from gnome-
terminal (the command is from pm-utils package).

2024-06-03 Thread FM33
Public bug reported:

Regularly, quite often actually, ubuntu 24.04 restarts after resuming

usually shows during boot/shutdown. This is not the only issue with
ACPI/suspend.

[Bug 1969959] Re: Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)

2022-04-24 Thread FM33
In my case the screen stayed black with a few color spots and it happens only
with X.org
By clicking directly on "install ubuntu", I could install and it booted fine. I
noticed performance issues and tried X.org session and got the display bug
again. While I had selected "Auto logon", I had to use recovery mode to get
back on wayland with :
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf
and edit WaylandEnable=
There is also a line for auto logon by the way.
Unfortunately, with wayland I'm experiencing frequent freezes and I am falling
back to Focal on this machine.
Edit : This is an intel machine (Celeron N3150)

[Bug 1874718] [NEW] display scale bug in snap apps when using fractionnal scale

[Bug 1642198] [NEW] preference freeze

2016-11-16 Thread FM33
Public bug reported:

Edit -> Preferences -> Content
Click "Advanced" from "Font & colors section"

Firefox hangs with, then message :
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can
stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script
continue.
Script: chrome://mozapps/content/preferences/fontbuilder.js:23

Click continue and Fx remains unresponsive then loops back to the same
message.

Happens with Fx 49.0.2 and Nightly 53.0a1 (2016-11-15) (64-bit) with clean
profile.
Ubuntu 16.04 amd64.

In the same time, a similar issue appeared in thunderbird beta and
earlybird : It stops responding for a long time when using preference
dialog and compose window is broken.

I went there to figure out why default font on some sites looks like this :
https://framapic.org/h0P9CQ1u3FCi/WQDhRYVhfA0e.png
This is recent too.

Why everything is going wrong with all mozilla softwares at the same
time and is affecting most (all?) versions ?

2016-05-09 Thread FM33
Public bug reported:

Hello,

When system starts using swap massively (~1GB of 8GB available), the system
freezes a few time later and require to press the reset button.
It is happening when using rawtherapee (latest version from github).

I think rawtherapee may have a bug with memory usage, according to my
experience in 14.04 with RT gtk2 version (not stressing swap), but the
system should not freeze when using swap.

vm.swappiness = 0
8GB RAM

[Bug 1574266] Re: Xorg freeze

2016-04-29 Thread FM33
This bug is much worst in 16.04 than it used to be 14.04 :
Happens very often and freezes the system completely 4 times of 5 instead of
just hang display for 30 seconds.

+1 themroc
Downloaded manually from wily (1.16). Will try it tomorrow but I'm not afraid,
it should work. I experienced in the past that this package is very portable
between ubuntu and even debian versions.

No more issue in 15.10
May be because of setting up TearFree intel option.

[Bug 1528376] Re: Unexpected software rendering for 3D

2015-12-22 Thread FM33
I tried adding xorg-edgers ppa and upgrade. This made things worse : Logs out
immediately after login.
So I installed 15.10 that seems to work finer, but with another random display
issue :

[Bug 1528522] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-12-22 Thread FM33
Frequency of reproduction has spaced. After having it 5-6 times in the
first 30min, I could use the machine without incident for almost 2
hours, and then ~2h again after this last incident. Then I shut the
machine down normally.

[Bug 1316913] Re: wrong keybord layout at system start

2014-09-03 Thread FM33
A script i put in my startup applications to automate the workaround. Replace
xkb:fr::fra' by your own kb if not french.
Display your actual config with dconf read
/desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines.
Also customize set xkbmap fr.

#!/bin/sh
sleep 6
if [ -n $(dconf read /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines | grep eng) ]; then
   dconf write /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines
['xkb:fr::fra','xkb:fr:oss:fra']
   set xkbmap fr
   sleep 0.5
   echo $(date)  ~/TMP/bug_ibus_wa.log
   compiz --replace
fi

[Bug 1320456] Re: Wrong keyboard layout after login

2014-08-09 Thread FM33
Wrote a script to automate the workaround :

#!/bin/sh
sleep 5
if [ -n $(dconf read /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines | grep eng) ]; then
   dconf write /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines
['xkb:fr::fra','xkb:fr:oss:fra']
   sleep 0.5
   compiz --replace
fi

Customise it with your own locale and add it in startup applications.
Run dconf read /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines in a terminal to see
what is your actual value.

[Bug 1316913] Re: wrong keybord layout at system start

2014-06-05 Thread FM33
There is a hidden tool, ibus-setup that can fix it, but the settings are
regularly reset to default by update-manager.
Run ibus-setup as normal user,
Second tab, check the personalise checkbox,
Remove english (that is bolded and at the top of the list - that's abnormal).

[Bug 1320456] [NEW] Wrong keyboard layout after login

2014-05-17 Thread FM33
Public bug reported:

Hello,

The keyboard layout is azerty (fr) in lightdm, but after login it
switches to qwerty (en) and i need to click the first entry in the
keyboard indicator to have it back to azerty. I do have only french and
french variante layouts in the keyboard layout list.

Side effect : Compiz has to be restarted to take the change for
shortcuts like super-w.

[Bug 1316913] Re: wrong keybord layout at system start

2014-05-13 Thread FM33
I can confirm the issue for another machine, and another bug related to this
one :
While w key is not at the same place in qwerty against to azerty, after
selecting french layout, compiz do not take care of the change so the super-w
shortcut do not work until compiz is restarted with compiz --replace. Pressing
super-z works (where w key is in qwerty layout).

Hello,

Don't care about nemo packages in this list : i did not update them for
stability reason.

Same problem here on one machine of three. Added layouts : French and

installed by default in addiction to the one (fr) selected during
install, but it doesn't solve the issue.

[Bug 1315012] [NEW] No sync notify on usb storage eject

2014-05-01 Thread FM33
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Since Trusty, nautilus and nemo do not warn anymore when write process
is not ended on eject for USB storages. I need to manually open a
terminal and run 'sync' command.

Steps :
Connect USB stick
Copy a big file
Click eject/unmount button on right of the device name immediately after the
close of the copy dialog.
No dialog shows up.
Run 'sync' in a terminal : The command ends after a few minutes.

[Bug 998360] Re: 07ca:a815 af9015: random detection issue

2013-11-14 Thread FM33
I found a way to restrict the bisect to november 2011 according to the
dates in http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ but the build
process fails because a 'debian directory is missing.

$ git log --after 2011-11-01 --before 2011-11-30  log_nov2011
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good 45f74482a05df8aa9253ec0b228648cbad3dd7e8
$ git bisect bad a493f1a24a496711d96b91c4dc0a1bd35eb6954b
Bisecting: 5283 revisions left to test after this (roughly 12 steps)
[37be944a0270402f9cda291a930b0286f6dc92f5] Merge branch 'drm-core-next' of
git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux

debian.master/changelog do not exist. Skipped this step

$ fakeroot debian/rules clean
/usr/bin/fakeroot: ligne 178: debian/rules: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type

I don't understand
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#Why_did_the_folders_debian_and_debian.master_disappear.3F

Do i need to give up the idea of restricting to november 2011 changesets
or is there a way around this ?

[Bug 998360] Re: 07ca:a815 af9015: random detection issue

2013-11-09 Thread FM33
I ran this :
$ git log --oneline Ubuntu-3.1.2-030102..Ubuntu-3.1.3-030103
fatal: ambiguous argument 'Ubuntu-3.1.2-030102..Ubuntu-3.1.3-030103': unknown
revision or path not in the working tree.

So i tried this :
git log Ubuntu-3.1.0-2.3..Ubuntu-3.2.0-1.1 | less
Working, but :
git log --oneline Ubuntu-3.1.0-2.3..Ubuntu-3.2.0-1.1 | wc
  11401   93126  705392

Is there a way to be more specific / doing this precisely for 3.1.2 to
3.1.3 ?

2013-09-29 Thread FM33
I tried with oneiric live on usb for more than 10 days without
reproducing. I figured out that the issue pretty occur on colds boots
(and resume from suspend/hibernate). I never had the issue again in
precise while it was booted by restarting from oneiric. Then, after
finishing the oneiric testings, when the problem occured in precise i
tried to restart instead of unplugging and it worked too.

Then i ran new tests with latest saucy live : It never works, even
unplugging several times. Logs infos :

I can't say it because this machine had precise for first OS.
It was working fine on the former machine with Ubuntu 11.10 and is still
working on Mint Debian Ed with 3.2 kernel.
Former PC hardware : Motherboard Asus P5ND2SE, GPU Nvidia (with proprietary
driver in Ubuntu and now Nouveau in LMDE). Can't tell more details about bios
or gpu model for now because the PC needs repair.

Re-tested it in saucy live. Works better than previous test : The device

because linux-firmware-nonfree package is not installed by default.

[Bug 998360] Re: af9015: random detection issue

2013-08-30 Thread FM33
A web search led me to discover that the firmware provided with ubuntu
is out of date, despite the fact that the most recent was released in
2010 :

$ md5sum /lib/firmware/dvb-usb-af9015.fw
dccbc92c9168cc629a88b34ee67ede7b  /lib/firmware/dvb-usb-af9015.fw

$ md5sum dvb-usb-af9015*
dccbc92c9168cc629a88b34ee67ede7b  dvb-usb-af9015(1).fw
4e0e7d65ab961d02fe5d5625c0393d47  dvb-usb-af9015(2).fw
f6c1dfb5c2c890b438771918d66ee2be  dvb-usb-af9015(3).fw
532b8e1eabd3b4e9f8ca084b767e4470  dvb-usb-af9015(4).fw
5c2da8881b8be5161c7db8ef94711cf5  dvb-usb-af9015.fw  == Most recent from
http://palosaari.fi/linux/v4l-dvb/firmware/af9015//

Just replaced it and crossing fingers. I'll wait to check if it solves
the issue before trying the (non downgradable) bios update.

[Bug 1146967] Re: Parcellite Applet-Indicator Disappears and Won't Come Back Until Reboot

2013-04-16 Thread FM33
Is it only parcellite software icon that disappear, or some other
applications ?

I have a bug in precise, where all classic tray icons (gnome2-like)
disappear frequently from unity panel. The only way to restore them is
restarting compiz by running compiz --replace in alt-F2 prompt.

Maybe it's the same for you ?

[Bug 998360] Re: af9015: random detection issue

2012-07-31 Thread FM33
I saw a new error message af9015 did not find the firmware file and found a
track here with google :
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-906892-start-0.html
Do you insert the device before or after the filesystem is mounted. If the
driver is built-in and you insert it before the filesystem is mounted (read:
the device is there at boot), it's impossible for it load the firmware, because
it's on the yet-to-be-mounted filesystem.

but i don't know what to do to check is it is the problem, or how to
change the moment when the firmware is loaded.
