[Bug 999076] Re: mdadm 0.9 metadata at the end of the disk confuses grub
I did a reboot now without the spare (i did all this because i had a remote server without grub ;) ) and after the reboot from kernel 2.6 to kernel 3.2 adding the spare worked for some reason. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/999076 Title: mdadm 0.9 metadata at the end of the disk confuses grub To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/grub/+bug/999076/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 999076] Re: mdadm 0.9 metadata at the end of the disk confuses grub
I still have troubles here. I found out something interesting: I used zero-superblock with --force on the disk and the partition, and i used dd to zero over the end of the partition and disks. It works now, but when i add the spare-drive to the RAID i get the "error: found two disks with the index 4 for RAID md0." again. When i remove the spare and zero the superblock, it works again.

[Bug 625169] Re: ubuntu server 10.04amd64 fails to boot after installation on lvm+raid5
I solved the problem, it has two related bug reports here, but I can't find them anymore. The problem was that apparently fdisk has a bug, which lets it create partitions which are 1 cylinder larger than the disk. If you install raid on such a system anything could happen. The raid will not start or randomly etc. I solved it by manually creating the 4 primary partitions on the disks with fdisk and than used the standard server install to setup raid+lvm on it. works like a charm. -- ubuntu server 10.04amd64 fails to boot after installation on lvm+raid5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625169 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Hi, I did a fresh install of ubuntu 10.04 server-amd64 yesterday on a new machine with 4 identical s-ata drives in it. - I configured the drives to form a raid5 - then put lvm on it - then made three partitions: swap, / (ext4) and /srv (ext4) i used the standard installation routine for this. after installing and not choosing any additional packages (except for postgresql and samba) i rebootet and the boot process failed with the message (not 100% accurate). "Gave up waiting for root device." The device was "/dev/mapper/lvmOnRaid-root" What do to? I have TBird 2.0.0.8 installed, I just thought it was 2.0.0.6 because the aboutpage says that. I have contact with the developer of the extension who just released 0.3.0 which features Auto-Update and doesn't need any additional extensions any more. [Bug 52667] Re: Thunderbird doesn't support RFC-2369 based Reply-To-List
Ok, sorry, I just figured out I made a mistake: Reply-To-List works, but only when you have configured thunderbird to show _all_ headers. When you select "normal" headers, the button get's greyed out, cause the extension doesn't find the List-Post header anymore. Apparently Thunderbird makes only the visible headers available to extensions. I have another extension installed "Display mailinglist headers" which also only works with all headers displayed. I'm definitely sure, that in Thunderbird 1.5 both extension worked, no matter how the "Show Header"-option is set. -- Thunderbird doesn't support RFC-2369 based Reply-To-List https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52667 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 85886] gdmchooser breaks gnome-switch-user
Public bug reported: Hi, I configured GDM to show the chooser by default, so I can select the computer I want to connect to. When I connect to the local host Gnome starts and everything works fine. When I use the shutdown menu in Gnome, I'm offered the option "Switch User", which does not work. It brings me back to the gnome-screensaver every time instead of starting a new GDM.
