[Bug 1897659] Re: Memory issues hangs the whole graphic system
The behaviour is that I stand up from my machine, and comeback a couple of hours later (desktop machine, no sleep or hibernation involved). When I come back it's unresponsive. It doesn't provide signal to the monitor, the keyboard "numlock light" doesn't even work. However I can ssh into it just fine, and work just fine inside. But no graphic system, and no way to really restart any process to get it back (everything I tried, at least). I normally end up issuing a `sudo shutdown now` (after sshing inside), which makes it work a while but DO NOT turn the machine off (it looks that whatever is hung prevents that). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897659 Title: Memory issues hangs the whole graphic system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-450/+bug/1897659/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB
Yes, this issue is mixed, people talking about those two problem. The original poster states one of the problem, though: "While copying many and large files to and from a USB drive, the system becomes incredibly slow and sometimes hangs.", which is illustrated by Mauro (mauromol) with the example of "mouse pointer freezing". I saw that too many times :( I'd totally buy the system copying files slower if I can still use it while working. Got here by trying to understand why "pip" exploded when tried to call "lsb_release" when being inside a snap (yes, no dpkg-query"). [Bug 1614265] [NEW] Mouse pointer shows to the bottom on the screen on some pad touchs
Public bug reported: When using normally the touchpad, sometimes it jumps to (mostly) the bottom of the screen. It jumps to any position in the bottom, not the corners. Also, sometimes it jumps to the top. This is not random jumping, or erratic movement. It jumps to the bottom on some touchs. I found that it's quite reproducible if you play a little with two fingers on the pad, not moving the pointer but just touching the pad with one finger, then with the other, then with the first, etc, in rapid succession. So, at some point I updated the system, and this behaviour stopped happening; tried a lot to reproduce it, and all that I got is the normal slowdown when you use disk a lot and try to use an app that suddenly needs to access disks. [Bug 1581651] [NEW] Xenial desktop unusable under simple I/O through USB
Public bug reported: Hello! After installing Xenial [0] I experience the following: when I do I/O through USB (to/from simple pendrives, or an external HDD I have), the desktop becomes unusable, because it goes very very unresponsive. With unresponsive I mean: - all windows go greyed out (like when it's failing to answer in time, as if the process inside that window locked up) - firefox and thunderbird start to pop up the typical "the script is taking too much to finis, want to kill it/continue/etc" (in whatever tab I'll be, so it's not the JS scripts (for once!) - the mouse pointer goes jumpy, not really following my hand movement - I see in thee indicator-multiload widget that CPU time is "wasted" in "waiting i/o"; which I confirmed looking at "top". So, in short: even while understanding that CPU would wait a little for i/o and that the system will be under a little load by writing a pen-drive, I find current situation beyond a normal experience. How can I start to debug this? What I can try? Can I provide you more info? Thanks! [Bug 1399401] [NEW] SmartScopesProxy should allow send the User Agent also when doing the remote-scopes request
Public bug reported: In the following call: SmartScopesClient.get_remote_scopes(): GET https://dash.ubuntu.com/smartscopes/v2/remote-scopes?locale=en ...the SmartScopesProxy is not sending the normal User Agent (with "partner", etc). The server receives 'Mozilla/5.0', which is not very useful. [Bug 1398788] [NEW] Music scope should stop relying on Grooveshark internal category ids
Public bug reported: Right now the Music scope uses the categories id from Grooveshark as part of the mechanism to aggregate results. But the categories id of remote scopes are only consistent between the categories and corresponding results. So it should stop relying on those ids. [Bug 1395901] [NEW] libreOffice calc formulas are loosing references when moving rows or cells
Public bug reported: Using LibreOffice Version 4.2.7.2 and also losing the Sheet Reference in cells. This is reproducible on old spreadsheets and new. After doing some testing, it is cause by the cut and paste of a cell. So I guess moving the contents of a cell is the same thing. It doesn't matter if the cell you cut and paste is reference or not. All sheet references are removed. Even if you have sheet references in cells on other sheets. All sheet references are removed, but the cell reference is still there. The cell data displayed doesn't change (very deceiving), but if you save and reload, the data now displays the new cell reference data. The only work around I have got, is to avoid the cut and paste steps, and do a copy paste and delete. [Bug 1181047] [NEW] Network timeouts in Raring
Public bug reported: I migrated to Raring two days ago (from Quantal, that came from a cleanly-installed Precise). Nothing else changed: it's a desktop machine plugged by ethernet to a modem connected through fiber to my ISP. In these two days I noticed a lot of timeout situations, when... - doing requests to upload photos to Flickr through flickrapi - scp'ing a file from an internal Canonical server - ssh'ing to a server of mine - when trying to do bzr branches from Launchpad As you may imagine, it's hard to know when they would happen. But they happen, consistently. And didn't happen at all before migrating. How can I start to debug this? Do you know about something that changed that could explain this? [Bug 1102727] [NEW] Shortcut launcher make bash to not read .bashrc
Public bug reported: I always had (well, since around Karmic), a shortcut in my environment, so when I hit ctrl-alt-2, the following snippet would be executed (or very very similar, now adapted to the python 2/3 duality): gnome-terminal -t "Python 2" -x bash -c python2 As you can see, this opens a terminal (titled "Python 2") which executes a bash, that executes python2. Why not make gnome-terminal to execute directly python2? Because as I'm executing bash, it'd read the .bashrc file that sets the PYTHONSTARTUP and PYTHONPATH environment vars. It always worked as I just described. After I migrated to Quantal this stopped working. It still executes a gnome-terminal, ending in the execution of python2 inside it, but somehow, the .bashrc file is not executed, as the executed Python doesn't have correctly set sys.path. I finally did: ind = appindicator.Indicator.new("example", "", appindicator.IndicatorCategory.APPLICATION_STATUS) ind.set_icon_theme_path("/home/facundo/temp/bugappind/") ind.set_icon("nice-test-icon") Marking this as invalid. ** Changed in: pygobject (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1015820 Title: appindicator does not use custom icon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pygobject/+bug/1015820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1015820] [NEW] appindicator does not use custom icon
Public bug reported: I have the following code snipet where I use a custom icon (see the 'assert', the icon *is there* in the theme), but then appindicator doesn't really use it. I put a commented out line for you to try it and see that the rest of the code is OK... if you use the icon name "indicator-messages", all works ok... if you use "nice-test-icon", it won't show the icon in the systray, :( Here's the code for a quick look, attached is a zip with both the code and the icon (a standard 16px PNG that I use in other project to put it in a systray, in gtk2 from python). Thanks for the help!! [Bug 989804] [NEW] Some icons does not appear in the systray
Public bug reported: If I enable the systray to all icons... $ dconf read /desktop/unity/panel/systray-whitelist ['all'] ...I see the icon for Deluge, but not for Pidgin, nor XChat, nor Turpial. I should see them all. Is there a way to debug this more than "I see it I don't see it"? Thanks!
