[Bug 1966498] Re: kernel:[ 7548.242662] watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#2 stuck for 3203s! [kauditd:110]

2022-03-29 Thread Federico Foschini
I'm getting the same bug even on Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v2 @
2.10GHz, I'm starting to think it's not CPU related.

Am I the only one affected? Are there any logs which can help triage
this bug?

I've already tried using WINCRIS but without luck. I hope (for other

[Bug 1791407] Re: Thinkpad L570 UEFI destroyed after BIOS update

2018-09-10 Thread Federico Foschini
Sorry for the double comment.
I'm not sure if this is a fault of fwupd or the fact that lenovo released a
fault firmware; anyway I think Ubuntu should not push firmware updates along
normal system updates.

Bios updates are very dangerous (as shown in this bug-report) and even
Lenovo says on their official documentation to NOT update the bios
unless your system isn't working as expected.

[Bug 1791589] [NEW] [Lenovo Thinkpad L560/L570] Latest ubuntu bios upgrade bricks the computer

2018-09-10 Thread Federico Foschini
Public bug reported:

On Friday 7 Sep. a bios update was released through ubuntu software center in
Ubuntu 18.04.
I've attached a screenshot of the update to this bug report.

I've applied the update to a Lenovo Thinkpad L560 AND a Lenovo Thinkpad
L570 and after rebooting both computers started beeping and they died.

Now both laptop shows only a black screen and all the Lenovo suggested
procedures to restore the BIOS were unfruitful. The only solution
appears to send back the laptops to be repaired.

[Bug 389930] Re: grub menu does not display after cold boot on Toshiba laptops

Hi,
in my desktop since I've installed karmic (and grub 2) the grub menu never show
up during boot. It's automatically boot ubuntu. Luckily ubuntu is my only
operating system so it's not a big deal.

Today I've updated to Lucid and the grub2 menu still doesn't display, lucid
boot automatically but after the new splash screen my monitor turn black and
goes to power saving. The pc seem frozen and even the MagicSysrq does'nt work.
I need to get the grub menu to boot ubuntu without the splashscreen option to
see why my system hangs.

[Bug 193970] Re: iwl3945: Wireless can't be activated if kill switch was on at boot

2008-03-14 Thread Federico Foschini
I have a Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG like you :P. I think the
problem is in the driver because with ipw3945 (the proprietary driver) I
don't have this problem :P

2008-03-05 Thread Federico Foschini
Christian I tried network-manager 0.7 and it doesn't work. It gave me
this error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ nm-applet
nm-applet: symbol lookup error: nm-applet: undefined symbol:

And it wont start.

A lot of people report this bug in #ubuntu-it on freenode. I have no
idea why flashplugin-nonfree doesn't work
