[Bug 1686713] Re: [SRU] 2.25

2017-05-11 Thread Federico Gimenez
While addressing https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy/+bug/1689332 the team
decided to freeze the ubuntu-core snap and publish the current stable to
all the channels, this prevents the error provoked by the new 2.25
package.

This was the only blocker, the rest of the verification was good:

+ Verified bugs associated to the SRU affecting the user interface
+ Executed manual tests described in [1]
+ Verified new features from the changelog [2] affecting the user interface
+ Executed automated spread tests on xenial [3], yakkety [4], zesty [5]

2017-05-09 Thread Federico Gimenez
During the verification we found
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy/+bug/1689332, snapd team considers
that this is serious enough to block the release.

[Bug 1681799] Re: [SRU] 2.24

2017-04-21 Thread Federico Gimenez
Thanks Mathieu! :)

I've done also the verification of the package on trusty, xenial,
yakkety, and zesty:

+ Verified bugs associated to the SRU affecting the user interface
+ Executed manual tests described in [1]
+ Verified new features from the changelog [2] affecting the user interface
+ Executed automated spread tests on xenial [3], yakkety [4], trusty [5], zesty
[6], errors in zesty related to [7] (not a regression, the problem happens too
with 2.23.6+17.04.1 and seems to be related to the lack of entropy on the test
machines)

[Bug 1677622] [NEW] missing ramdisks in latest amd64 kernel snap

2017-03-30 Thread Federico Gimenez
Public bug reported:

While running the snapd suite using the amd64 kernel snap from the beta
channel (rev 59) we got this error running [1]:

2017-03-30 09:36:41 Error preparing
linode:ubuntu-core-16-64:tests/main/snap-auto-mount :

[ ... ]
Create a ramdisk with the testrootorg-store.account-key assertion
+ mkfs.vfat /dev/ram0
/dev/ram0: No such file or directory
mkfs.fat 3.0.28 (2015-05-16)

There are no /dev/ram* files on the ubuntu-core system, not sure if this
is intended and we should adapt to it. It was created with:

$ sudo /snap/bin/ubuntu-image --image-size 3G -c beta -O . ./models/pc-
amd64.model

and, once logged to the ubuntu-core system, the version:

$ $ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 4.4.0-67.88-generic 4.4.49

Thanks,

very useful to at least have the meta/hooks directory implicitly

[Bug 1626617] [NEW] console-conf does not allow to set up dns for static ip

2016-09-22 Thread Federico Gimenez
Public bug reported:

There's no way to setup DNS info for static IP configuration, which
leads to broken name resolution:

fgimenez@localhost:~$ cat /etc/netplan/00-snapd-config.yaml

fgimenez@localhost:~$ cat /etc/resolv.conf

[Bug 1623579] Re: [SRU] 2.15.2

2016-09-20 Thread Federico Gimenez
Verification done following [1], all steps performed, specifically:

+ Executed manual tests described in [2] and [3]
+ Done exploratory testing (install/uninstall snaps, connect/disconnect
interfaces, search, list)
+ Verified new features:
  + interfaces/apparmor: allow reading /etc/environment
  + interfaces: allow special casing for auto-connect until we have assertions
(checked autoconnection of canonical-livepatch)
  + interfaces/apparmor: allow reading /etc/environment
  + interfaces: disable auto-connect in libvirt interface
  + snap: (re)add --force-dangerous compat option
+ Verified actual upgrade from 2.14.2 to 2.15.2 and uninstall
+ Checked interaction with classic apt install and update of debs
+ Installed/uninstalled snaps and debs from gnome-software center (using sudo)

[Bug 1612362] Re: [SRU] 2.12

2016-08-17 Thread Federico Gimenez
** Description changed:

  This is a new version of snapd.

  The changelog for 2.12 is available here
  https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/2.12/debian/changelog, the raw
  git changelog is available here:
  https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/commits/2.12 (note that the debian
  changelog is auto-generated from the merges of the git commits so there
  is usually no need to look at the raw git commits).

  The snappy team released a new 2.12 micro release that we want SRU into
  xenial. The new process described in
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SnapdUpdates was used and we have done
  integration-tests on the snappy images, autopkgtests on classic and unit
  tests.

  The following automatic tests are run:
  - travis unit tests https://travis-ci.org/snapcore/snapd/branches (check for
2.12 here)
  - travis/spread based integration/system tests:
https://travis-ci.org/snapcore/snapd/branches (check for 2.12 here under
"spread")
- - jenkins autopkgtests
http://162.213.35.179:8080/job/snappy-by-tag-autopkgtest/14/
+ - jenkins autopkgtests
http://162.213.35.179:8080/job/snappy-by-tag-autopkgtest/16/
  - jenkins integration tests:
http://162.213.35.179:8080/job/snappy-by-tag-integration-test/17/

  The following additional tests were performed:
  """
  - adt-buildvm-ubuntu-cloud
  - customize the resulting image: "sudo apt install snapd && sudo snap install
hello-world && hello-world.env && sudo snap remove hello-world" (ensures the
base image has the old debs and the daemon has some state)
  - adt-run --source snapd_2.12.dsc --- adt-virt-qemu
adt-xenial-amd64-cloud.img: PASS
  """
  This included the upgrade from 2.0.11 as part of the autopkgtest run. There
are also various snaps installed/removed (including installing and running
ubuntu-calculator-app in xvfb) and run as part of the auto pkg test, including
reboots to ensure that the system keeps working over reboots.

  After installing the new snapd it was ensured that apt is unaffected by doing:
  """
  - sudo apt install -y hello && sudo apt remove -y hello
  """

  After installing the new snapd gnome-software was used:
  """
  - install "http" (snap) and remove it again
  """
  All worked as expected.

[Bug 1599799] Re: snapd > 2.0.2 fails on yakkety

2016-07-15 Thread Federico Gimenez
This is the test executed [1], with [2] the snapbuild binary should be
generated. Not sure why it's not present after the test exits in your
case, I can find it running locally (yakkety, autopkgtest 4.0.2, command
line: "adt-run --unbuilt-tree . --apt-upgrade -s --- qemu ~/adt-yakkety-
amd64-cloud.img", image generated with adt-buildvm-ubuntu-cloud).

You can generate the snapbuild binary following the steps in the test,
set the GOPATH environment variable as in [3] and run [2] from the
project's root, it will be available in $GOPATH/bin/snapbuild. Let me
know if that works for you.

Thanks,

Sorry, I mistakenly sent the binary path for allsnaps systems, there
should be a copy of the snapbuild binary in the testbed in the paths
/usr/bin/snapbuild and $AUTOPKGTEST_ARTIFACTS/build/bin/snapbuild after
a test run.

Cheers,

[Bug 1599799] Re: snapd > 2.0.2 fails on yakkety

2016-07-14 Thread Federico Gimenez
Hi Pitti, thanks a lot for looking into this. About your questions:

* Where do you get this "basic.snap" from?

It is built from the source files, from the root of the project
something like:

integration-tests/bin/snapbuild integration-tests/data/snaps/basic .

That should generate a basic_1.0_all.snap file in the current dir.

* How can you tell it to just run a single test, or immediately stop after the
first failure?

To run a single test:

SNAP_REEXEC=0 ./tests.test -check.vv -check.f

AFAIK we are not able to stop after the first failure.

Cheers,

2016-06-24 Thread Federico Gimenez
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1591148 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591148

Hey Kyle, sorry for not dropping a comment here explaining the reasons
for marking this a duplicate. In the other bug all the problem came from
the kernel, not the distro or the arch, as the error message states. The
default linode kernels are compiled without apparmor support, and that
made snap install fail for every snap. Once I replaced that kernel with
the distro one, which includes apparmor support, all went fine.

The error message and the behaviour in this case are the same (kernel
needs apparmor 2.4 compatibility patch, unable to find suitable fs in
/proc/mounts, and hanging forever after trying to install a snap), seems
to me like the same problem but of course it can come from a different
issue, please feel free to remove the dupe if you think it needs proper
research.

Thanks!

[Bug 1583085] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release

2016-05-27 Thread Federico Gimenez
Hi Brian, I've already verified the resolution of bug 1574829, please
let me know if something is still missing.

About the Packaging QA section in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SnapdUpdates I
didn't contribute to the doc but it seems to refer to QA of the new
package, which is what we have done, not packaging specifically for QA.
I'll contact the author for him to confirm anyway.

Thanks,

[Bug 1574829] Re: snappy install requires root or login, but doesn't tell you so

2016-05-27 Thread Federico Gimenez
With the 2.0.5 package:

$ snap install hello-world
error: access denied (snap login --help)

$ snap login --help
Usage:
  snap [OPTIONS] login email

The login command authenticates on snapd and the snap store and saves
credentials
into the ~/.snap/auth.json file. Further communication with snapd will then be
made
using those credentials.

Login only works for local users in the sudo or admin groups.

[Bug 1583085] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release

2016-05-25 Thread Federico Gimenez
FWIW apart from the autopkgtest suite executed successfully on our ci
environment we have done successful manual exploratory testing of these
commands:

* snap install (including reboot)
* snap remove
* snap interfaces
* snap interfaces connect
* snap interfaces disconnect
* snap changes
* snap change
* snap find
* snap list
* snap abort
* snap login
* snap logout

Thanks,

2016-03-11 Thread Federico Gimenez
Hi Martin :) we are getting the same "/tmp/adt-run-wrapper: command not
found" error eventually (1/30 more or less) while executing tests that
involve a reboot on snappy's scalingstack instances [1] (VPN required),
please let me know if I can provide any further info.

Thanks!

[Bug 1441023] [NEW] Allow to preserve powerd-cli on cleanup (ssh virt-server)

2015-04-07 Thread Federico Gimenez
Public bug reported:

Currently powerd-cli gets killed in the cleanup action of ssh-setup/adb.
For some tests (power meter related) the daemon should be running after
finishing so that the screen doesn't turn off.

Given the great flexibility of adt-run an alternative script which
doesn't pkill powerd-cli on cleanup can be used, but it would be very
useful if we can specify somehow that powerd-cli should be preserved
without having to fork the default adb script.

Thanks!

[Bug 1423491] [NEW] Can't locate installed perl modules while executing the phone sanity tests

2015-02-19 Thread Federico Gimenez
Public bug reported:

When executing the sanity tests on the phone with a command like:

adt-run --timeout-short=600 -B --unbuilt-tree=$PWD --output-dir
~/workspace/ust --copy ~/.config/ubuntu-sanity-
tests.conf:/home/phablet/.config/ubuntu-sanity-tests.conf --setup-
commands 'mount -o remount,rw /' --setup-commands 'apt-add-repository -y
ppa:canonical-platform-qa/selenium' --setup-commands 'apt-get --no-list-
cleanup update -o Dir::Etc::SourceList=/dev/null' --setup-commands
'sync; sleep 2; mount -o remount,ro /' --- ssh -s adb -- -p

I'm getting the error:

Can't locate Dpkg.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Dpkg module)
(@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/perl/5.20.1
/usr/local/share/perl/5.20.1 /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/perl5/5.20
/usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/perl/5.20
/usr/share/perl/5.20 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /tmp/adt-
run.fhCiGm/deps/usr/bin/dpkg-architecture line 25.

The tests use the perl script 'dpkg-architecture', which depends on the
Dpkg perl module. dpkg-architecture is pulled by the dpkg-dev package,
which depends on libdpkg-perl, the later installs the Dpkg perl module
under the deps directory (in the previous example, /tmp/adt-
run.fhCiGm/deps/usr/share/perl5), but this is not by default in the @INC
paths for perl scripts.

As a workaround, setting the PERL5LIB environment variable to /tmp/adt-
run.fhCiGm/deps/usr/share/perl5 seems to solve the issue.

Thanks!

** Affects: autopkgtest (Ubuntu)
