[Bug 1924852] Re: Selected output device in Sound settings is not persisted across restarts
In my specific case I have two output devices: 1. an audio card integrated in the motherboard 2. and an external microphone that has a monitoring output jack Each of them results in two selectable options (there's always a second "Digital Output (S/PDIF)" prefixed one) in the Ubuntu settings for a total of 4. After startup the usb microphone is selected as the output device so I have to switch it to the integrated sound card analog output. (you can see details about each device in the `pactl list sinks` output in my "workaround" comment) Also whenever I connect my guitar amp (also acts as sound output) it is automatically selected as the active device and disconnecting it results in the microphone being selected again no matter what I had selected before connecting the amp. [Bug 1924852] Re: Selected output device in Sound settings is not persisted across restarts
It seems that whenever you connect a new device it is set as the currently active one. I suspect the device selected as active after the restart is simply the last one to load. I just tried this with 3 devices: 1. at first have device A and B connected to the computer and have B selected as active 2. connect new device C 3. I can see C becoming automatically the active device 4. disconnect device C from computer 5. A automatically becomes the active device all of the above was monitored by having the "Sound" panel of gnome- control-center opened and watching the "Output" > "Output Device" Combo- box changing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924852 Title: Selected output device in Sound settings is not persisted across restarts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1924852/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1838151] Re: Poor quality audio with modern Bluetooth headsets in HSP/HFP. Missing wide band speech support (Bluetooth A2DP codecs).
I understood that they need to deal with new codec inclusion, via GStreamer o other libs, and that writing code and manage a community is not a simple task. Said that, IMHO there are three big question with bluetooth and PulseAudio: 1. in these days we (probably most of us) are always on web conferencing and we need good audio quality in both direction, mic and speaker. Current bluetooth headsets are capable of using Bluetooth Profile HFP 1.6 with mSBC 16kHz audio encoding, this standard permit high quality voice conferencing and It was made in 2011...9 year ago. 2. Bluetooth Profile A2DP for listening only (music...) There are a lot of codec for high quality listen audio, es. SBC-XQ, aptX-LL, aptX-HD, aptX Voice and FastStream 3. Support for new version of Bluetooth / Profile. Ex #1 BT 5.3 with LC3 (Low Complexity Communications Coded (LC3)) codec. Ex #2 BT Profile HFP 1.8 with codec selection and Enhanced Voice Recognition Activation. [Bug 1082418] Re: [Fujitsu Lifebook AH532] UEFI firmware locks itself after installing Ubuntu in UEFI mode
Actually, this crap happened me many times and I was able to solve after burning a mobo just to figure out what was happening. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE DOING ANYTHING! When the system has not grub installed everything is ok, but after the install efi is destroyed. The only way to solve it is to jumper the two pins under the ram, it will reset cmos and efi. Then you have to create a freedos bootable usb stick with the bios updater on it. Pay attention that 1.x can't be updated to 2.x, so check twice for the exact bios version. Then flash the bios. Now reboot the computer. It will automatically check for any bootx64.efi in Boot folder in the efi partition. If you have something there, it will boot it. In the case you want to reinstall grub you can, but in order to AVOID TO REPEAT EVERYTHING just remove the efibootmgr and efivars packages, without them grub-install won't touch the efi entries. If you have any questions please ask, maybe i have some news since I am still trying to add a standard entry as i used to have. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Invalid ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082418 Title: [Fujitsu Lifebook AH532] UEFI firmware locks itself after installing Ubuntu in UEFI mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1082418/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1750937] Re: 4.4.0-116 Kernel update on 2/21 breaks Nvidia drivers (on 14.04 and 16.04) by an insufficient compiler!
Could we please know when this bug is going to be fixed at last? If is not uncommon, actually quite common I would say, to have a NVIDIA graphic card and a more recent version of GCC installed than the one in the Ubuntu distribution, which is quite old. And then the machine is broke when the new kernel is installed! All the fixes in the above risk breaking the machine irreparably. Even reinstalling Ubuntu from scratch may not work in the long run, if the bug is not fixed in the new kernel version, because one also need to use the most recent versions of GCC and thus the problem is bound to reoccur. And having to keep using kernel 112 also looks quite unsatisfactorily as a long term solution. [Bug 1734147] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 corrupting BIOS - many LENOVO laptops models
Lenovo z50-70 (20354) corrrupted bios, can modify only date and time. Lastest version of bios allready installed. I've only tried ubuntu 17.10. My luck is I've installed grub2, so from usb I can load conf and boot all my operative systems. No way to do something for rewrite from the laptop. So, if you can boot the uefi live usb, another workaround is take the disk and install grub (if you haven't one installed yet), and when you boot the usb press 'c' key and load the config file for grub. If anyone have a sane bios image, please dump it and public it, so I'll try to reflash the image on my bios. [Bug 1097937] [NEW] Suspension not working on HP Compaq CQ61-110SL
Public bug reported: It seems that the suspension is not compatible with my laptop. I've tried it with both Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10, even with a clean install of the O.S. (dual-boot with Windows 7). The computer has a 32-bit architecture. Behaviour: when resuming from suspension, monitor shows a black screen and, after some seconds, only the wallpaper (sometimes only the black screen), so that I have to force the shuting-down process, keeping pressed the shutdown key of the laptop. The model of the laptop, as the title says, is: HP Compaq CQ61-110SL. I hope that community will solve this, because I am only a newbie ;) If you need more information about this, just ask, thank you. P.S.
