[Bug 996916] Re: postgresql packages in the removal blacklist making it hard to upgrade
No need to remove all postgres packages, removing postgis should be enough. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996916 Title: postgresql packages in the removal blacklist making it hard to upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/996916/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 996916] Re: postgresql packages in the removal blacklist making it hard to upgrade
It's 2020, and 4 years after reporting it (there https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release- upgrader/+bug/1594355) I am once again facing this bug upgrading from 18.04 to 20.04 because of postgresql-11-postgis-3. When is someone going to have a look at it?
[Bug 1594355] Re: Upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04: Could not calculate the upgrade
The upgrade went fine, I had to reinstall postgresql-contrib after that though. sudo apt-get install postgresql-contrib-9.2 sudo apt-get install postgresql-contrib-9.4 Then I was able to drop and recreate postgis extension in psql. This issue can be closed, sorry for the noise. I'd like to suggest to add the name of the blocking package to the error modal though, it would have saved me a lot of time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1594355 Title: Upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04: Could not calculate the upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1594355/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1594355] Re: Upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04: Could not calculate the upgrade
After a look at `/var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log` it looks like postgis was in fault. sudo apt-get remove postgresql-9.2-postgis-2.1 sudo apt-get remove postgresql-9.4-postgis-2.1 Allow the upgrade to launch (it will install postgresql-9.5-postgis-2.2) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1594355 Title: Upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04: Could not calculate the upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1594355/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1594355] Re: Upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04 stopped during new repository configuration
Description of the bug updated to provide error messages. Please tell me which log to check to know what caused the `Could not calculate the upgrade` message. ** Description changed: - A error message appeared saying the upgrade cannot continue and will - stop, asking me to report this problem with `ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release- - upgrader-core`. + The system asked me for an upgrade, I accepted. + + I first had this information message: + ``` + Third party sources disabled + + Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled.
