[Bug 1754199] Re: Mounted Volume ICON not displayed on desktop
I am experiencing the same problem on bionic. My system is an upgrade from artful. The NFS shares are mounted at: /media/sharename I don't know whether it is relevant, but I am still using the Unity 7 desktop on bionic. The shortcuts of the NFS mounts were visible in nautilus on artful, where I was also using the Unity 7 desktop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754199 Title: Mounted Volume ICON not displayed on desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1754199/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1756013] Re: 2 instances of onboard onscreen keyboard running and settings only applying to one
The main problem is that Onboard was not designed to work with GNOME3, that has restrictions, that Onboard can hardly bypass. (Onboard is also incompatible to Wayland, which is an additional issue.) There is a gnome extension for Onboard that slightly improves the situation, but a proper compatibility with GNOME 3 requires Onboard to be rewritten, having the restrictions of GNOME 3 in mind. A rewrite of Onboard started some time ago under the name of OnboardOSK; but I don't know what state OnboardOSK is in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1756013 Title: 2 instances of onboard onscreen keyboard running and settings only applying to one To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/onboard/+bug/1756013/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1672465] Re: Onboard doesn't work in Wayland
Hi Sebastien, First of all, thanks for you appreciating our team and we also hope to continue the cooperation with you. As Onboard has more features than Caribou, there already has been some demand for its integration into GNOME and people have also done some work on it; for example: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/33065735/replacing-gnomes-virtual-keyboard-with-onboard-hide-show-via-dbus-doesnt-wor In the meantime, Onboard is shipping an own extension for its integration into GNOME shell. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/gnome-shell-extension-onboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/onboard/+bug/1538627 The release for zesty does not fully support GNOME shell yet, but since Ubuntu has decided to switch to GNOME Shell and Wayland, these two items have become high priority for us and marmuta is currently actively working on the port. He told me that he made some progress, but he is better placed than me to give you details on it, so I leave it up to him. As far as I know, Lightdm is also being replaced by GDM, which will also be relevant for Onboard... [Bug 1664746] Re: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided)
Jeremy, I created a new debianisation for zesty. It is based on the debianisation of Onboard 1.3.0-1ubuntu1 currently in the main Ubuntu repo and gave it version number 1.4.1-0ubuntu1 so that it can be overwritten by 1.4.1-1ubuntu1 when synching from debian. I tried to follow your suggestions above and also looked at your debianisation of 1.4.1 for debian experimental: - The debian/changelog only has entries concerning the debian folder and the bugs that have to be closed. - I copied your onboard-common.install file moving some files to the doc directory. However, I removed the asterisk from from line 14, because we have to distinguish between the onboard-defaults.conf.example example file that can be moved to the doc directory and the onboard-defaults.conf file, which is not a doc file, when it is present. (onboard-defaults.conf is not present by default.) - I removed the patch that installs the onboard-defaults.conf file. - I used my updated copyright file Feel free to use and change it the way you like. We released onboard version 1.4.1 yesterday, which includes the gsettings overrides. [Bug 1664746] Re: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided)
Jeremy, don't worry about the email; it might also have gone lost. Concerning the settings problem: the patch I talked about, does not change anything in the source code; it adds an optional configuration file to the package, that gets taken into account only on the first start of Onboard. (This feature was added for distributions to have a way to adapt onboard to their wishes.) The ubuntu-settings package you indicated might be a replacement of the optional configuration file of onboard, assuming that it does not override the gsettings key on each update/installation of the ubuntu-settings package. Is this the case? I asked marmuta, who has been writing nearly all the onboard code these last years, to have a look at this. Finally, I prepared a new debianisation without the patch and a few other small changes, that I was going to submit to debian. I will attach the debianisation to this bug thread in case you or Mike are interested. The files with version number 1.4.0-1 are the files I prepared for debian unstable. If I should do anything differently than I did in the debianisations for debian, please let me know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664746 Title: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/onboard/+bug/1664746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1664746] Re: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided)
Thanks Mattia for your reply. In fact, the onboard package came into existence "many" years ago to have a working onscreen keyboard in Ubuntu and came to debian only years later. Ubuntu being the main target of the package, we used to create a release shortly before feature freeze in Ubuntu and submit it for sponsorship as I did this time. I noticed that the onboard package in zesty had switched to the version available in debian, but I assumed that it happened because the version number in debian was higher than the version number from the package inherited from yakkety. But I seem to have been wrong about the switch to the debian package being due to the version number. Thus, I will start looking at how to submit the new package to debian. By the way, thanks for the link about how to submit bugs to debian. The package I am going to submit to debian will however have the patch with the Ubuntu defaults settings removed; but I suppose that you will port the Ubuntu defaults patch from the current package to the new package when doing the sync with debian...

[Bug 1643700] Re: mousetweaks process does not get killed when entering desktop
** Description changed: This problem occurs on the current development version of zesty; it does not occur on any other Ubuntu version that is currently supported. Lightdm offers the possibility to start the default on-screen keyboard Onboard. Further, Onboard offers the possibility to start the hover click, which is provided by a process called mousetweaks. The hover click consists in having the system automatically perform a left click (and optionally other click types) shortly after the pointer stops moving. It is an accessibility feature for example for people that are not able to click with an hardware device, like mouse buttons. Here is how to start the hover click in lightdm: - Start the on-screen keyboard Onboard by using the accessibility menu at the top right. - Click on the key on the at the right of the Onboard layout that has a pointer as label; an additional column with keys will appear; these are the keys to control the hover click. - Click on the key at the bottom of the column that just appeared and that shows a pointer with a little clock. This is the key to start the hover click. In fact, it starts the mousetweaks process, that provides the hover click feature. The problem now is that the mousetweaks process started by Onboard in lightdm is still running after entering the desktop session. Here is the terminal output after entering the desktop session: $ ps -ef | grep mouse lightdm 1784 1 0 22:30 ?00:00:00 mousetweaks frafu 3584 3546 1 22:31 ?00:00:00 mousetweaks frafu 4324 3105 0 22:31 pts/500:00:00 grep mouse As you can see, the mousetweaks process started under lightdm is still - running and there is also a second mousetweaks process that was started - because the desktop session is configured to automatically start the on- - screen keyboard Onboard and Onboard is configured to start the hover - click. + running. [Bug 1601997] Re: Ubuntu 16.10 installer sets metadata_csum option on ext4 partition which is incompatible with other LTS Ubuntu versions
I have got a problem because of the non-matching features, too: I formatted a new drive with ext4 under Ubuntu 16.10 and added it to the fstab of my precise and trusty installations. These two LTS installations stop during the boot press giving me an error because e2fsck does not recognize the new features. (The problem does not occur for xenial.) As Norbert and Theodor above: e2fsprogs 1.43 should be backported to precise and trusty; especially now that the new features are enabled by default. In trusty, I am now using Daniel Mehrmann's PPA, which is offering a snapshot of e2fsck 1.43. Daniel Mehrmann's package does not build in precise because it seems to need a newer version of libc6. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1601997 Title: Ubuntu 16.10 installer sets metadata_csum option on ext4 partition which is incompatible with other LTS Ubuntu versions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/1601997/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1567301] Re: Untranslated buttons
Hi Sebastien, Marmuta fixed the problem in revision 2129 of trunk. Since it is already quite late in the xenial release cycle with all the freezes already enabled, especially the string freeze, I decided to create a patch that only adds the translatable attribute where it is missing. You can find the patch in the onboard update added to this bug thread. The onboard update is based on the onboard version currently in the xenial main repository. [Bug 1212736] Re: Touch screen: Right click should be emulated by long press, like under Windows 8 and Android
The click and hold to simulate a right click used to send the virtual right click before button release until march 2010. Changes in the X server forced the mousetweaks developer to move the virtual right click after the button release because as far as I understand, the X server stopped accepting virtual right clicks if the left mouse button had not been released. I don't know how the current X server would behave about this. Anyway, as far as I have been told, a real right click simulation by a left click and hold should probably be implemented at a deeper layer than mousetweaks. Another aspect for example making problems is that mousetweaks is not able to discard the real left button down before creating the virtual right click. One of the consequences is that it is not possible to perform a virtual right click on a multiple selection as the real left mouse click preceding the virtual right click deselects the items. By the way, mousetweaks tried to implement some kind of feedback to indicate when the user has hold the left mouse button long enough to issue the simulated right click: the pointer should fill up with a different color. However, this does not work reliably. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1212736 Title: Touch screen: Right click should be emulated by long press, like under Windows 8 and Android To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mousetweaks/+bug/1212736/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1546654] Re: Standard configuration proposal
@Sebastien Onboard might already offer what you are looking for. In fact, Onboard can read on its first run an optional defaults file. The purpose of this file is to allow distributions to configure Onboard to their wishes. The file is called onboard-defaults.conf and is installed by the patch in the onboard package available in the ubuntu repository. I am adding an updated version of the onboard package with docking and expansion enabled to this bug thread. In other words, with this updated version, onboard will be docked and stretched from left to right on fresh ubuntu installation (to be more accurate, I should have said on ubuntu installations, that did not run onboard yet). A few words about the onboard updates offered here: You might also wonder why I am providing two updates. In fact, I noticed that the patch in version onboard_1.2.0-0ubuntu1 had not been refreshed and was still referencing an older ubuntu version. Thus, I first created onboard_1.2.0-0ubuntu2 that refreshes the patch and then onboard_1.2.0-0ubuntu3 that adds docking and expansion accross the screen to it. You might wonder why the expand key is not enabled in the updated onboard-defaults.conf for portrait mode. It is not enabled because it is enabled by default for portrait mode. Maybe an additional final remark: There is also a way to force the settings in the defaults file on users that did already run onboard in the past. By setting the "use-system- defaults" gsetting key of onboard to true, onboard will read the defaults file when it starts up, write all the configuration settings provided in the file to the users gsetting keys and reset the "use- system-defaults" key to false. In other words, if an onboard package uses its post installation script to set the "use-system-defaults" key to true for all users, their onboard gsettings key will be overwritten with the values of the defaults file on the first onboard start after the installation of onboard. However, I don't think that it is a good idea to change the users configuration without notice and the updates I am attaching here do not contain such a script. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions; marmuta and myself will be glad to help if we can. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1546654 Title: Standard configuration proposal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/onboard/+bug/1546654/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
