[Bug 1958391] [NEW] SSSD internal DNS resolver is broken when using Cisco Anyconnect VPN client
Public bug reported: Hi everyone, I am facing an issue with SSSD internal DNS resolver (I was able to reproduce this issue with SSSD versions 2.2.3 coming with Ubuntu 20.04 and version 1.16.1 coming with Ubuntu 18.04) when I am using Cisco Anyconnect VPN client. SSSD is not detecting the new DNS servers setting up by Cisco Anyconnect client and keeps using previous ones. DNS is managed with systemd-resolved and the /etc/resolv.conf file is a symlink to /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf file (I am not using the internal DNS stub resolver). When Cisco Anyconnect client connects to VPN the /etc/resolv.conf symlink is renamed to /etc/resolv.conf.vpnbackup and a regular file /etc/resolve.conf is created with DNS servers to use while on VPN. When Cisco Anyconnect client disconnects from VPN the /etc/resolv.conf.vpnbackup is moved back to /etc/resolv.conf. I have checked this with inotifywait (I only kept interesting parts): /etc/ MOVED_FROM resolv.conf /etc/ MOVED_TO resolv.conf.vpnbackup /etc/ CREATE resolv.conf /etc/ OPEN resolv.conf /etc/ ATTRIB resolv.conf /etc/ MODIFY resolv.conf /etc/ CLOSE_WRITE,CLOSE resolv.conf ... /etc/ MOVED_FROM resolv.conf.vpnbackup /etc/ MOVED_TO resolv.conf I can workaround this issue by changing the way SSSD detects DNS changes (stop using inotify and poll the /etc/resolv.conf file every 5 seconds) with option try_inotify set to false but I guess this can impact performance (even though I don't think this should be a big impact). The SSSD team told me that my issue is the same issue as this one https://github.com/SSSD/sssd/issues/1031 Newer SSSD versions have already been fixed. Will it be possible to backport: patches - https://github.com/SSSD/sssd/commit/0c5711f9bae1cb46d4cd3fbe5d86d8688087be13 to version 2.2.3 (Ubuntu 20.04) - https://github.com/SSSD/sssd/commit/758b99590a8e1f69b4487fad9cf343525797e05f to version 1.16.1 (Ubuntu 18.04) Thanks for your help :) ** Affects: sssd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958391 Title: SSSD internal DNS resolver is broken when using Cisco Anyconnect VPN client To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1958391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

A workaround is proposed, that consists in exporting WEBKIT_FORCE_SANDBOX=0 before running Evolution. This works. Notice I have Apparmor enforced. Disableing Apparomor for usr.bin.evolution also works around the problem. Both are not required, either one is sufficient. [Bug 1817338] Re: HDMI sound output not available
Ok, trying to rephrase the problem :-) I have a laptop (Thinkpad T430s) hooked on a dock, then an HDMI monitor with embedded speakers (Asus MX27AQ) on the dock. Before upgrading to 19.04 ongoing release, I was able to choose HDMI speaker as sound output, from the sound setting in Gnome shell. Now, I can't get sound on the monitor anymore, only laptop speakers are working. If I choose the HDMI/Displayport option in the gnome sound settings, it wont change anything. When this option is selected, if I click on the test button, it will display a window with "click a speaker to test", but NO speaket to choose from (only the "user" icon). [Bug 1713313] Re: Unable to launch pkexec'ed applications on Wayland session
Are there any plans to move forward and try to coordinate applications rewrite/adaptation ? I'm not in love with wayland, but isolating graphical applications for each other seems a legitimate concern (see https://theinvisiblethings.blogspot.com/2011/04/linux-security-circus-on-gui-isolation.html for example). Now that Ubuntu has given up on Wayland by default, I'm afraid there is now less incentive for transitioning to the security model wayland wants to impose. So what? [Bug 1776679] [NEW] Nautilus crashes when dragging files into a subfolder

[Bug 1690085] Re: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks
Hi, I'm getting the same issues on several identical builds, with an ASUS prime X370-PRO motherboard. It's very hard to analyze since it happens randomly every other week, and it leaves no logs. It seems that the freeze happens at idle after very high memory load (observation after logging CPU and RAM loads). [Bug 1628956] Re: From v49.0, Firefox needs read access to @{PROC}/net/arp
Motivation for this new requirement is: ## Why Each particular network your computer and browser run in has its own set of network conditions, routers, proxies and MITM situations. Changing between networks also changes proxies. Intercepting or explicit, willing or unwilling, HTTP or even HTTPS with custom installed trust-roots. This makes the web content cache, the cookie store and others to save contents from one network that is potentially different than what is received over other networks. It can lead to content pollution and information leaks, on purpose by malicious actors or just by mistake. see the details here https://bug1240932.bmoattachments.org/attachment.cgi?id=8709691 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1628956 Title: From v49.0, Firefox needs read access to @{PROC}/net/arp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1628956/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 109434] Re: Installing a server for a game automatically auto-inits and runs every boot.
On Ubuntu 16.04, I was hit by the unexpected (by me) behaviour of wesnoth-server, and noticed it just now (after probably 6 month running the server on each boot. My first idea was to go to /etc/default/wesntoh, looking for a ENABLE=1, but there is none. So I think that: - the fact that the server will run on each boot should be much more obvious on installation - there should be simple way to disable it (something like /etc/default/wesnoth) I support the view that installing a game server is most of the time for playing a network game occasionally, and running a permanent game server is probably a less frequent use case (which might require explicitly enabling the server on boot) (notice this bug was opened... 8 years ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109434 Title: Installing a server for a game automatically auto-inits and runs every boot. [Bug 1566944] Re: dnsmasq profile prevents LDX container to launch
In the initial bug report against LXD, S. Graber suggests that maybe "The apparmor dnsmasq profile should only apply to the system wide daemon (/etc/init.d/dnsmasq) and not to other daemons". Not sure what to think about it... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566944 Title: dnsmasq profile prevents LDX container to launch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1566944/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1552764] Re: Eclipse and SWT are very slow/hang on a fresh 16.04 install (gtk3/swt issue)
This is definitely a problem with SWT and the version of GTK3 that ships with 16.04. the problem also arises with for example Gantproject (https://www.ganttproject.biz/download) or Digdash Studio (proprietary BI tool). Exporting SWT_GTK3=0 works around the issue, but most SWT applications will fail by default on Xenial. ** Summary changed: - Eclipse is very slow/hangs on a fresh 16.04 install (gtk/swt issue?) + Eclipse and SWT are very slow/hang on a fresh 16.04 install (gtk3/swt issue) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1552764 Title: Eclipse and SWT are very slow/hang on a fresh 16.04 install (gtk3/swt issue) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/java-common/+bug/1552764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
