I have experienced the same issue trying to connect to a printer shared
by a system which resided on a Domain.  The system requires
authentication to connect to the printer, so it was not visible from the
SMB Browser [the system and domain are visible, but there are no
printers available on the system].

I was able to connect to the printer, though, by manually filling in the
field above where you enter your credentials
[<domain>/<server>/<printer_share_name>], then by entering my domain
login information.  You should get a confirmation message if you use the
validate button to ensure that the printer is accessible.
