[Bug 1776381] Re: lxc-test-api-reboot will hang with autopkgtest
It might be a duplicate of https://github.com/lxc/lxd/issues/4485 (which is fixed in 3.0.1, now in -proposed I believe). [Bug 1765699] Re: lxd fails to start main process, yet waitready doesn't bail out
Regarding systemd-specific logic, AFAICT we already have some systemd- specific code for socket activation (see lxd/util/http.go:GetListeners). I think that conditionally leveraging what systemd offers (in case LXD is managed by systemd), wouldn't be a bad idea, and the strategy proposed by Dimitri sounds robust. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1765699 Title: lxd fails to start main process, yet waitready doesn't bail out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxd/+bug/1765699/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After debugging it seems the root of the problem is in the landscape.monitor.usermonitor.UserMonitor._reset method which is called upon resynchronization, but doesn't wait for a new session ID to be available (the session ID is obtained asynchronously by the code in landscape.broker.client.BrokerClientPlugin._resynchronize). [Bug 132485] Re: Storm should try to support two-phase commit where possible
Hi Stuart, thanks for the comments! Okay, let's go for modified commit() and rollback(). I will make tpc off by default in ZStorm and have a way to configure it per-store, because you might don't want to have it on for all stores, for example if they set the isolation level to autocommit (tpc is not supported), something like zstorm.set_default_tpc(name, flag), and maybe have a way to configure it per-transaction too. Regarding begin(), I think we need it because the ZStorm machinery needs to call it when during register_store_with_transaction, afaiu you need to call the DB API level tpc_begin() before issuing any query in the transaction. So prepare() alone is not enough, unless we are fine with ZStorm accessing the raw connection directly via store._connection._raw_connection (but that doesn't seem great). My idea would be to add a Storm-level Xid class, that you can instantiate passing the standard XA arguments (format, transaction_id, branch_qualifier). Then you can pass Xid instances to store.begin(), and they would be handled transparently. If you think we should move this to the mailing list, I'll do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132485 Title: Storm should try to support two-phase commit where possible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/landscape/+bug/132485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 132485] Re: Storm should try to support two-phase commit where possible
Hi there! I'd like to revive this bug. Since version 2.3, the pyscopg2 driver implements the two-phase commit extension of the DB API specification version 2.0. So I'm keen to pick it up and implement Storm's support for two-phase commit on top of the DB API 2.0 interface. The idea would be to add a prepare() method to the Store class, as proposed by earlier comments in this bug. Invoking prepare() on a backend that doesn't support the DB API two-phase commit extension would raise NotSupportedError, as recommended in comment #4. Then commit() or rollback() would transparently perform the second phase of the commit, if prepare() was called, as suggested in comment #1. We might also want to have a begin(transaction_id) method on the Store class, accepting a unique string identifier. This would call the backend's tcp_begin() DB API method under the hood, and can be used by transaction managers. Integration with ZStorm would be done using the above API, and probably adding something like a set_tpc(flag) method to ZStorm to enable/disable two-phase commit (it would be off by default). Another option would be to explicitly add two new methods, e.g. tcp_commit() and tcp_rollback(), to clearly mark the difference with commit() and rollback(), though I'm not sure how useful that would be and what the possible use cases are. Thoughts? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132485 Title: Storm should try to support two-phase commit where possible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/landscape/+bug/132485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 610744] Re: Update jaunty, karmic, lucid and maverick to landscape-client 1.5.4
I've updated the upstream status of the bugs to "Fix released". The one you report (bug 605079) was indeed erroneously still not marked as "Fix committed" and so it got automatically shifted to milestone 1.5.5 by a script that we run at the end of the milestone. I didn't find any other bug with the wrong milestone though, note that we push a new SRU only every two releases, so in this SRU there bugs targeted to both 1.5.3 and 1.5.4, hope it's fine. As mentioned on IRC, I didn't create tasks for all the bugs because at some point someone told me that it was fine to do that for the main SRU bug only, for reducing the overhead. [Bug 610744] [NEW] Update jaunty, karmic, lucid and maverick to landscape-client 1.5.4
Public bug reported: Landscape Client 1.5.4 has been released. We would like to get these changes into Maverick, Lucid, Karmic and Jaunty. As far as released version of Ubuntu are concerned, the required pieces of information for the needed SRU follow (as laid out in the "Procedure" section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates). === Statement explaining the impact === This release sports both bug-fixes and new features and we would like to make sure all of our supported customers (even those on Jaunty, Karmic and Lucid) have access to these improvements. The notable ones are: 1) The Eucalyptus management plugin now reports the output of the 'euca- describe-availability-zones verbose' command, which includes information about the available instance types and the maximum number of each instance type that the cloud can support. 2) Check if the package directory exists before trying to check the package changer lock in the dbus-proxy. This fixes a bug when upgrading a dbus-landscape which never registered. 3) Allow an LDS server to bootstrap new cloud instances with its own CA, which is picked up by the client, written to a file on the instance, and used in subsequent exchanges with the server. 4) Skip loopback interface when reporting device info. 5) Disable landscape-sysinfo when load is more than 1. For more details see Bug #599338, Bug #603514, Bug #605079, Bug #608314, and Bug #608278 (all mentioned in the debian/changelog of the proposed packages). === How the bug has been addressed === We have been following the development procedure laid out in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandscapeUpdates === Patches === The three branches for the new landscape-client jaunty, karmic and lucid source packages are attached to this bug, and were derived from lp:ubuntu/jaunty-updates/landscape-client lp:ubuntu/karmic-updates/landscape-client lp:ubuntu/lucid-updates/landscape-client respectively. === Detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug === N/A === Discussion === All the source packages have been subject to the QA process detailed in the LandscapeUpdates document linked above. === How the bug has been addressed === We have been following the development procedure laid out in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandscapeUpdates ** Affects: landscape-client Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Update jaunty, karmic, lucid and maverick to landscape-client 1.5.4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/610744 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The notable ones are: 1) A new network-sysinfo plugin shows the IP address for all active network interfaces when the sysinfo system runs. 2) The reboot-required plugin now also reports information about which packages requested the reboot. 3) A new network-activity plugin collects information about network traffic. 4) The various Landscape client processes now communicate with each other over Unix sockets using the Twisted AMP library, instead of the former DBus-based mechanism. For more details see Bug #272344, Bug #538253, Bug #574810, Bug #284662 (all mentioned in the debian/changelog of the proposed packages). === How the bug has been addressed === We have been following the development procedure laid out in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandscapeUpdates === Patches === The three branches for the new landscape-client jaunty, karmic and lucid source packages are attached to this bug, and were derived from lp:ubuntu/jaunty-updates/landscape-client lp:ubuntu/karmic-updates/landscape-client lp:ubuntu/lucid/landscape-client respectively. === Detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug === N/A === Discussion === All the source packages have been subject to the QA process detailed in the LandscapeUpdates document linked above. [Bug 551672] [NEW] Can't connect to d-bus after upgrading from Hardy to Lucid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dbus After upgrading from hardy to lucid, the old dbus-daemon process is still running and hasn't been replaced by the new one (this will effectively happen after the reboot). However before the system its reboot, any new process that needs to connect to d-bus will fail, because the path of dbus-daemon-launch-helper has changed. Please include a symbolic link in the dbus package to fix this, like /usr/lib/dbus-1.0/dbus-daemon-launch-helper -> /lib/dbus-1.0/dbus- daemon-launch-helper In this way the old dbus-daemon process can still find the dbus-daemon- launch-helper binary. ** Affects: dbus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Canonical Desktop Team (canonical-desktop-team) Status: New -- Can't connect to d-bus after upgrading from Hardy to Lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/551672 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 533830] [NEW] FFe: Package Twisted 10.0.0 for Lucid
Public bug reported: Twisted 10.0.0 has just been released. It fixes over one hundred bugs that were present in the 9.0 release. See http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/browser/tags/releases/twisted-10.0.0/NEWS?format=raw for full release notes. We've retain backwards compatibility with all of the APIs, unless they were deprecated over a year ago. Every change to Twisted is thoroughly code reviewed and no change can get in without full unit test coverage. In terms of testing, we regular run our full test suite on various permutations of our supported platforms. Results available here: http://buildbot.twistedmatrix.com/boxes-supported. The Launchpad team have also verified that Launchpad works with the new Twisted with no code changes. Since Twisted is mostly a library, I have no screenshots. Note that although the version number has had a big jump, that's simply because we use the major number to indicate the year of release. It doesn't indicate massive new features or refactoring. Packages will follow shortly. [Bug 497536] Re: [SRU] Update intrepid, jaunty and karmic to landscape-client 1.4.0
** Description changed: Binary package hint: landscape-client Landscape Client 1.4.0 has been released. We would like to get these changes into Karmic, Intrepid and Jaunty. The required pieces of information for a SRU follow (as laid out in the "Procedure" section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates). === Statement explaining the impact === New features have been developed since the versions of Landscape Client that are currently in Intrepid, Jaunty and Karmic. We would like to make sure all of our supported customers (even those on Intrepid and Jaunty and Karmic) have access to these features. The notable ones are: 1) Support for release upgrades. From the Landscape web UI, it's now possible to issue a system upgrade between to subsequent Ubuntu releases (e.g. from jaunty to karmic), which will be performed using the regular update-manager code in non-interactive mode. 2) Report Smart locking information. The client will now report the server about Smart locks set on the system, which the Landscape UI is going to display with a special icon. 3) Several bug fixes which improve the overall user experience. For more details see Bug #456124, Bug #340843, Bug #465846, Bug #476418, - Bug #369000, Bug #450629, Bug #455217, Bug #462543, Bug #463321 and Bug - #488108 (all mentioned in the debian/changelog of the proposed - packages). + Bug #450629, Bug #455217, Bug #462543, Bug #463321 and Bug #488108 (all + mentioned in the debian/changelog of the proposed packages). === How the bug has been addressed === We have been following the development procedure laid out in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandscapeUpdates === Patches === The three branches for the new landscape-client intrepid, jaunty and karmic source packages are attached to this bug, and are were derived from lp:ubuntu/intrepid/landscape-client lp:ubuntu/jaunty/landscape-client lp:ubuntu/karmic/landscape-client respectively. === Detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug === N/A === Discussion === All the source packages have been subject to the QA process detailed in the LandscapeUpdates document linked above. -- [SRU] Update intrepid, jaunty and karmic to landscape-client 1.4.0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497536 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi, I was not able to reproduce this problem. From what version of python-smartpm where you upgrading exactly? Note that there are two versions of python-smartpm now in intrepid, the one in the stock released and the one in intrepid-updates (1.1.1~bzr20081010-0ubuntu0.8.10.1 and 1.1.1~bzr20081010-0ubuntu1.8.10.0 respectively), I tried to upgrade both of them against python-smartpm 1.2-0ubuntu1.9.04.1 from karmic, and everything was ok. It would help to have see the full dist-upgrade logs, you can fine the in /var/log/dist-upgrade, if you could tar and attach all the contents of that directory it would be appreciated. -- package python-smartpm 1.2-0ubuntu1.9.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: From 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491158 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
