[Bug 1682779] Re: monodevelop crashes on creating a new project
I had the same problem this morning, and was close to changing to some other development environment, until an memory came to me. I remembered the night before, I had been doing some system maintenance, and for some odd reason, I felt a need to rename the projects folder from "mono projects" to "mono-projects". So before trying to open a previous project again, I opened the preferences window for MonoDevelop, (edit>preferences) and under the "Projects>Load/Save" section, there it was... it still had the original folder name in the "Default Solution location" text-box. So I added the hyphen, saved it, and restarted MonoDevelop ... now it's back to working like a champ. Hope that helped, or at least gave someone the hint needed to find their own solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1682779 Title: monodevelop crashes on creating a new project To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/monodevelop/+bug/1682779/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 607560] Re: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise
Same problem here. Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit / 2.6.35-28-generic Disk one, Seagate barracuda 500 gig - ext4 - sda3 on / Disk two, Samsung spinpoint 500 gig - ext4 - sdb1 on /home I tried booting into the recovery mode with the shell and networking. After a few seconds nothing, no jdb2. No disk activity at all running iotop. This is the only time jdb2 did not access the disks. After this I followed these instructions and on my system it worked: ~ We can confirm that our ext4 partition is running a journal with: (where X is the partition number, sda1,2,3,4 etc) $sudo dumpe2fs /dev/sdaX | grep has_journal Disabling journaling is rather easy, the only drag is that to make structural changes to a filesystem, the filesystem cannot be mounted with read/write privileges. So, run a live cd, open a terminal and enter: $sudo tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/sdaX And it's done. Now when you boot, the change will be noted and the disk will be checked for errors. When the system is finally up we can run this again to confirm that in fact ext4 is running without a journal. $sudo dumpe2fs /dev/sdaX | grep has_journal should now return nothing. With this quick fix, no more constant IO peaks. ~ The tune2fs man page has this entry about 'has_journal'. -O [^]feature[,...] Set or clear the indicated filesystem features (options) in the filesystem. More than one filesystem feature can be cleared or set by separating features with commas. Filesystem features prefixed with a caret character ('^') will be cleared in the filesystem's superblock; filesystem features without a prefix character or prefixed with a plus character ('+') will be added to the filesystem. The following filesystem features can be set or cleared using tune2fs: has_journal Use a journal to ensure filesystem consistency even across unclean shutdowns. Setting the filesystem feature is equivalent to using the -j option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607560 Title: jbd2 writing block every 5 - 10 seconds, preventing disk spin-down and making noise -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 519068] Re: gtkpod crashes when export of selected tracks from database
Same thing, I'm exporting a smart playlist to an SD card. It will sometimes finish with the progress bar, but never transfer the files. [Bug 496435] Re: upgrades of the grub-pc package can overwrite wrong MBR
Bump. I can attest that this symptom is present in release Lucid. I performed an over-the-wire upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04. On reboot, got the symbol `grub_puts_' not found error. Interestingly, although there are two SATA HDs in this machine (one spinning media, one solid-state), the BIOS enumerates the SSD first, the BIOS boots off the SSD, the grub rescue mode enumerates the SDD as (hd0), and the 2.6.32-22 boot files are at (hd0,1)/boot. When the upgrade was running, /dev/sda was the SDD. I don't find any way that the grub install/setup during the upgrade could have become confused about which drive was supposed to get grub installed on it, nor any evidence that the drive enumeration would have changed. (The spinning disk, sdb, a.k.a. (hd1), has my 5.somtething - 9.04 repeatedly over-the-wire upgraded image and files, which is still attached since I'm not convinced I have all my settings transferred over...) (time passes) Huh. Booting from the spinning disk gets a grub2 style menu that can boot into 10.04 on sda. Now how do I fix it so grub's in the right MBR? (time passes) Trying sudo grub-install --root-directory=/ /dev/sda as per http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1014708 , linked by Jack Fariss (#14). Reboot. Change BIOS boot order to boot the SDD (sda, hd0) first again. Reboot. Success! So, for no apparent reason the 10.04 upgrade seems to have pushed grub onto the MBR of 10.04 or possibly the lingering 9.04 grub on sdb's MBR was able to find the 10.04 images and boot them. Either way... -- upgrades of the grub-pc package can overwrite wrong MBR https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 177154] Re: cdrtools is undistributable
Submitter asserts The CDDL contains restrictions not present in the GPL without citation, making the assertion nonactionable. Does there exist a clear and detailed argument about the incompatibility asserted? I find in other places that the use of CDDL'ed smake to build is identified as a blockage. GPL v2 requires the build scripts, but not the build tools be distributed. GPLv2: The source code for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it. For an executable work, complete source code means all the source code for all modules it contains, plus any associated interface definition files, plus the scripts used to control compilation and installation of the executable. Including the smake scripts appears to be required. Including (binary or source) smake in the OS distribution may or may not be required by the next sentence in the GPLv2: However, as a special exception, the source code distributed need not include anything that is normally distributed (in either source or binary form) with the major components (compiler, kernel, and so on) of the operating system on which the executable runs, unless that component itself accompanies the executable. (As an aside, ..., forking smake seems far more likely to be a successful project than cdrkit has ever been.) GPL v3 requires the build scripts and explicitly allows the nondistribution of smake: The “Corresponding Source” for a work in object code form means all the source code needed to generate, install, and (for an executable work) run the object code and to modify the work, including scripts to control those activities. However, it does not include the work's System Libraries, or general-purpose tools or generally available free programs which are used unmodified in performing those activities but which are not part of the work. smake seems to qualify as a generally available free program which is not part of the work and therefore its inclusion does not seem to be required under GPLv3. Overcoming the smake blockage seems straightforward. Assuming the other unidentified blockages are similarly trivial, forward motion seems easy. Without actually identifying these other blockages, it is impossible to classify them as trivial or not. So, what are the asserted blockages, in sufficient detail that they can be evaluated? -- cdrtools is undistributable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 352150] Re: ipw2200: Firmware error detected. Restarting
Hi there, After reading up more on the bug in google I found this link http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=75612 . After attempting the hwcrypto=0 option i noticed that it did help a little bit, but it did not fully fix the problem. I was still getting disconnected. When I originally posted this I was using a Linksys WRT160Nv2 for an access point, since then I have swapped out for a ubiquiti networks nanostation 2 ( http://www.ubnt.com/products/nano.php ). In both instances I was using WPA2. The nanostation 2 is a 802.11 b/g. The WRT is a 802.11 b/g/n. I'm 99% sure I tried to use the mixed mode at first ( b/g/n ) on the Linksys, and moved it to BG-mixed shortly after I bought it. Since I've setup the nanostation 2 I moved the encryption from WPA2 to WPA for an old windows machine and in either configuration I haven't had a single problem with firmware's restarting, or bandwidth throughput, or any kind of connectivity problems. -- ipw2200: Firmware error detected. [Bug 352150] [NEW] ipw2200: Firmware error detected. Restarting
Public bug reported: Hi, I just updated from 8.10 to 9.04 beta and I am seeing ipw2200: Firmware error detected. Restarting. in dmesg. My wireless card under 8.10 would constantly drop out and disconnect me from my 802.11 b/g/n WPA2 encrypted network. I have two laptops ( Thinkpad x40 x41 ) that use this same card and both show this problem. So far ( a few hours at most ) I have had better throughput bandwidth wise and better connectivity ( I'm not seeing network manager trying to re-associate every 10 or so minutes ).
