[Bug 2077960] [NEW] frequently loosing keyboard in some apps + WORK AROUND
Public bug reported: Hello, Since I upgraded my machine to Ubuntu 24.04, I frequently loose keyboard in some applications. - Using mouse in the affected application works perfectly but hitting keyboard keys does not input anything. - When it starts, some applications works others do not. - Closing & Reopening affected app does not solve the problem. - Re-running the app with "dbus-launch " makes it work temporarilly again. - WORK AROUND *Running "ibus start" makes everything work again.* - (When it happened to Firefox, it seemed that I couldn't enter anything in the initial "Master Password" dialog box, but then I could enter whatever I wanted in the URL bar of FF !?!) *Seems that ibus is very unstable...* Not sure what to provide as info. [Bug 1884525] Re: Cannot start calibre
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1898904 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1898904 Hi there, I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug #1898904. Here the error is NOT "AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'cancel'" BUT "PyCapsule_GetPointer called with incorrect name". I upgraded my Linux Mint 20 this morning & got the error in this bug not the other one. The bug is there since 06/2020 & we are 12/2020. Does this means that Calibre is not usable for all Ubuntu (&derivates) uses for ~6 months?!? I find it strange... If it would be the case, this bug would have received a LOT more votes/attention, no? Whatever, this bug is very blocking for me as I use Calibre a lot to read/convert books and comics. I've installed the latest standalone binary build of calibre as recommended by @eschwartz and it works seamlessly (I used `wget -nv -O- https://download.calibre-ebook.com /linux-installer.sh | sh /dev/stdin install_dir=~/calibre-bin isolated=y` to install it as user for testing purposes). Can someone tell me (or point me to documentations that explain) how I could create a wrapper package that executes this script and how I can ask Ubuntu's maintainers to replace the current faulty package from the repos by such a wrapper package? [Bug 1903514] [NEW] can't associate due to strange notification usage
Public bug reported: Hi, When I try to pair my computer with my phone, using "Make Discoverable" on the computer an "associate with" on the phone, the phone displays a PIN to be accepted and I click it. In parallel, the computer displays a desktop notification (XFCE pop-up notification here) that SAYS the PIN must be accepted, but clicking the pop-up does nothing (apart making it disappear) and there's no place where I can accept the PIN in any menu in blueman... Thus the operation always ends up failing (and blocking the phone for any new BT operation until a timeout occurs)... When I do the converse: pair my phone with my computer, only yhe phone displays notifications to be accepted and it works flawlessly... ** Affects: blueman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903514 Title: can't associate due to strange notification usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blueman/+bug/1903514/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi, This bug is back in Document Viewer/Evince(*) 3.36.7, at least under Linux Mint 20 Ulyana. [Bug 1865363] [NEW] nm-applet unstable behaviour when multiple AP have the same name
Public bug reported: Hi, I'm using a public wifi network to access the internet (in the spirit of FON - https://fon.com/). Let's name it XXX. There are multiple access points with the same name that "offer" this network. Many are in conflict with one another, using the same channel. Also, each AP is regularly switching channel, so I cannot associate a channel to a bssid and work with bssids instead of network name. nm-applet manages this situation very badly: - nm-applet seems to select the AP with the strongest signal, even if it is in conflict with 10s of others APs, leading to a very bad connexion, while still displaying an icon showing very good signal; - Also, as a consequence of its selection, quite often, nm-applet switches from one AP to the other, creating very instable situations, leading to even worse connexions throughput; - Trying to solve the problem, I saved the network, modified the connexion manually to fix one channel (let's name it YYY1), saved the connexion as "XXX-c[han]YYY1", then disconnected. Then I reconnected to the network, but nm-applet seemed to have switched to another AP using another chanel (YYY2), so I repeated the operation, and saved a "XXX-c[han]YYY2" network. Now, nm-applet, in its list of available networks, now randomly displays either simply "XXX", or at times "XXX >" (with a triangular char showing that there are sunetworks available) with "XXX-channelYYY1" are "XXX-channelYYY2" as sub networks. In the second case, if I select the network with less/no channel conflict, then the connexion is quite good and stable. > As can be seen in the attached picture, in the terminal, there are many access points available for XXX network, several using channel 11 or 7. As can also be seen there are 2 saved networks in nm-applet "Edit networks", one fixed to chan7, one fixed to chan11. However, nm-applet just lists "XXX" in its list of available networks... - Finally, there is no simple way in "Edit connections" to copy an existing configuration, so I cannot easily create a connection for each possible chanel. So, even if point above would be solved and nm-applet always display the avaliable "XXX-c[han]YYY" sub networks, I cannot simply create an entry for each channel and manually select the channel that is less in conflict than the others, based on my script that lists all the APs and the channels they use. Does anyone has a solution to this kind of situation? ** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "nm-applet does not present saved networks as available" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1865363/+attachment/5332360/+files/2020-03-01-190718_1600x900_scrot.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1865363 Title: nm-applet unstable behaviour when multiple AP have the same name To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1865363/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1833474] Re: Radom & frequent total crashes since upgrade to 19.04
Hi all, I've managed to track down where the problem comes from. CONTEXT - I use one of my neighbors' access point/portal to access internet (based on FON principle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fon_(company)). - Since the access point is not that close from my apartment, I baught and use an external Wifi adapter with a (supposed to be) 5DBi antenna. This is the exact following "ALFA" model: https://www.dx.com/p/alfa-awus036nh-network-ralink-3070l-wifi-network-card-2000mw-alfa-wireless-wifi-usb-adapter-with-5dbi-antenna-white-2053330.html - In order to be able to put this device outside my window, I plug it to my computer via a 2m USB armored cable, similar to this one (with the characteristic little bump / fuse?) https://mpshop.tn/3035-thickbox_default/rallonge-usb-male-femelle.jpg I tried with several cables (non-armored ones or longer cables, armored or not). All lead to kernel not recognizing the device or intermittent disconnection from the AP or disappearing of the device after a few minutes. The chipset is apparently detected as a RaLink and the kernel tells me it uses the 'rt2870.bin' firmware: [27393.587771] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 6 using xhci_hcd [27393.753513] usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=148f, idProduct=3070, bcdDevice= 1.01 [27393.753519] usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [27393.753523] usb 1-1: Product: 802.11 n WLAN [27393.753526] usb 1-1: Manufacturer: Ralink [27393.753528] usb 1-1: SerialNumber: 1.0 [27393.883944] usb 1-1: reset high-speed USB device number 6 using xhci_hcd [27394.044554] ieee80211 phy2: rt2x00_set_rt: Info - RT chipset 3070, rev 0201 detected [27394.055744] ieee80211 phy2: rt2x00_set_rf: Info - RF chipset 0005 detected [27394.056214] ieee80211 phy2: Selected rate control algorithm 'minstrel_ht' [27394.098722] rt2800usb 1-1:1.0 wlx000f0032e9c8: renamed from wlan0 [27394.150888] ieee80211 phy2: rt2x00lib_request_firmware: Info - Loading firmware file 'rt2870.bin' [27394.150937] ieee80211 phy2: rt2x00lib_request_firmware: Info - Firmware detected - version: 0.36 [27395.779361] wlx000f0032e9c8: authenticate with e4:9e:12:cf:e8:09 [27395.790695] wlx000f0032e9c8: send auth to e4:9e:12:cf:e8:09 (try 1/3) [27395.792593] wlx000f0032e9c8: authenticated [27395.798527] wlx000f0032e9c8: associate with e4:9e:12:cf:e8:09 (try 1/3) [27395.801965] wlx000f0032e9c8: RX AssocResp from e4:9e:12:cf:e8:09 (capab=0x401 status=0 aid=1) [27395.804884] wlx000f0032e9c8: associated [27395.805216] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlx000f0032e9c8: link becomes ready Under Linux (XUbuntu 19.04), everything works fine (detection of networks/connection to networks/upload&download), apart the fact that the computer totally freezes/crashes in less than 2 hours as soon as the ALFA device is plugin. When I use the computer without the ALFA device plugged, everything works fine (tested reaching a 12 days uptime!) Under windows (10 1903) everything works fine whatever the conditions (there's no crashes, even with the ALFA device plugged, tested reaching 24hrs uptime - sorry, I'm not able to use Windows more than that ;)...). So my (informed) guess is that there's a bug either in Linux's RaLink module or 'rt2870.bin' firmware. How can I provide more details, so that the bug is corrected ? PS: I don't see how this is not a security issue: a computer that freezes brutally and in a non recoverable manner (CTRL-ALT-DEL & SysReq are useless) 1) reflects a very big problem in some module/firmware code, that probably can be related to a buffer overflow of some kind which could be exploited locally/remotely to take control of the machine 2) has a very strong probability to lead to data corruption (as it is clear that apps/fs/disks are not shutdown correctly) 3) even if it is not the case, being potentially able to voluntarily (locally or remotely) execute the part of the code that crashes the machine, i.e. perform a Denial of Service, is very serious problem... [Bug 1795433] [NEW] Some XFCE 4.12.4 custom keybindings not working
Public bug reported: Hi, A few weeks ago I installed Ubuntu 18.04.1 on my old desktop computer. I assigned a few keys via XFCE's menu Application > Settings > WindowManager > Keyboard, including Ctl-Alt-a to "maximize window". This worked for a few weeks, but this morning I dist-upgraded the machine (didn't do it for ~1-2 weeks) and it does not work anymore. When I assign "maximize" to Ctl-Alt-b, it works again, but not when I switch again to Ctl-Alt-a. I have cleared almost all the other keybindings, with no more luck This key sequence seems to be intercepted somewhere in the lastest version of XFCE (4.12.4). Indeed, when the "Window Manager" settings window is opened, and I type Ctl-Alt-a, I see the "style" pane blinks. In other windows Ctl-Alt-a selects/blinks the first available button. So it seems Ctl-Alt-a is interpreted as something like "select (first) pane/GUI element". ** Affects: xfce4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1795433 Title: Some XFCE 4.12.4 custom keybindings not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4/+bug/1795433/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1698332] [NEW] Why is there no 'Downgrade to...' options in the popup menu on lines?
Public bug reported: There's a very useful tool: "Upgrade to Polyline/Bezierline". It allows users that have created a single segment line, to add a segment to get around an object that would come across the line. Unfortunately, if the user draws a line, then selects this option by error, there is no way of "Downgrading to" a single segment line, apart destroying the polyline and re-creating a fresh new single segment line. I understand that "Downgrading" is not easy as information is lost and managing that (and related user new interactions) might be too much to pain for the developers for the utility of the new service. I think an option solve this problem could be to completely get rid of this whole idea of "Up/Downgrading to", and simply always allow the user to Add/Remove corners/controls. - If a corner is added => transparently switch to Polyline - If a control is added => transparently switch to Bezier - If there is only 1 segment/control and it is removed => transparently switch to single segment line Wouldn't that gretly simplify the user experience at the expense of a very low quantity of code to add? ** Affects: dia (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1698332 Title: Why is there no 'Downgrade to...' options in the popup menu on lines? [Bug 1698153] [NEW] unselect group => cannot select an element
Public bug reported: When I select a group and hit CTRL-Shift-g to ungroup it, what occurs is that the elements are ungrouped and each element is selected. This is wanted. However, when I then click on an individual element (because I want to modify this single one before re-grouping the elements), instead of selecting this element and unselecting the others, this simply does nothing. As a consequence, I have to *first* unselect all the ex-group elements (e.g. by clicking somewhere in a blank spot), *then* select the individual element I want to change. This more than triples(*) the number of mouse clicks necessary for a simple edition of an element, the is far from productive... [Bug 1697448] [NEW] calendar: how to manage multiple calendar files?
Public bug reported: Hi, I'm using BSD's "calendar" to print dates of interest at each opening of a terminal (in fact, of a shell...). As you can guess, I need the number of entries to be as low as possible in order not to pollute my screen. For the moment, I use "calendar.french", but there are too many entries there. I'd like to use only the files "/usr/share/calendar/fr_FR/calendar.fetes and "/usr/share/calendar/fr_FR/calendar.jferies". I've tried with multiple "-f" options, but then "calendar" defaults to its basic behaviour: using "calendar.all". My first remark is the following: I think there's a bug here since it does not warn the user that there is an error in parsing the command line. My second remark is : does anyone knows an option/trick I could use to open multiple calendar files? [Bug 1679740] [NEW] memtester crashes computer
Public bug reported: Hi, I wanted to test my RAM, so I installed memtester. On my machine with 2*4GB RAM, I typed in: $ memtester 8GB 10 Immediately, the computer got frozen... According to the docs (man page): "memtester will malloc(3) the amount of memory specified, if possible. If this fails, it will decrease the amount of memory requested until it succeeds" So, apparently, memtester succeeded reserving 8GB. I would be glad to understand how, since: 1. My machine just has that amount physically, but with the OS+other running software, only 5794044 bytes are free 2. I have set up some paranoïd configurations so that no user process can request more than 2GB: $ ulimit -m 2097152 How is it possible that memtester did not got rejected by the OS when asking for more memory than available? How is it possible that memtester did not got rejected by the user process's limits? How to prevent memtester (and any other software) to crash my system by simply greedily asking for memory? ** Affects: memtester (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1679740 Title: memtester crashes computer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/memtester/+bug/1679740/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1679732] [NEW] ThB 45.8 uses 100%CPU and its windw freezes on start
Public bug reported: Hi, This morning I dist-upgraded my Ubuntu 17.04 and got ThB 1:45.8.0+build1-0ubuntu1 installed. Since then, when I start ThB it start using 100% CPU (1 full core) and the window freezes. I have no other solution than kill -9 to stop it... FYI, I have 3 email accounts and 2 google calendars (thus required extensions), plus passwords saved but protected by a Master passwd. BTW, I still have the same problem I've reported countless times over the last couple of years: since I have 3 emails+2 calendars, everytime I start ThB , I'm facing 5 popups to enter my master passwd... [Bug 1679722] [NEW] blank lines added betweeen normal output lines?
Public bug reported: Hi, I've been using the 'calendar' tool from this package for several years now without any problem. A few month ago (after I upgraded to Ubuntu 17.04, if I recall correctly), I've noticed a very annoying change: now, between every 'normal' output lines, is added a blank line. This makes the output very large where it is not useful. Also, I found absolutely no way to remove these extraneous outputs... This is particularly annoying since I'm calling calendar from my .bashrc , and now I've almost a quarter to a half the screen already used when I open a terminal... Now, my output looks like: $ calendar -f ushollidays Apr 04 Tandy Corp. acquires Radio Shack, 1963 (9 stores) Apr 04 Martin Luther King assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, 1968 Apr 04 NATO Established, 1949 Apr 04 Gandalf visits Bilbo Now, my output looks like: Before it looked like: $ calendar -f ushollidays Apr 04 Tandy Corp. acquires Radio Shack, 1963 (9 stores) Apr 04 Martin Luther King assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, 1968 Apr 04 NATO Established, 1949 Apr 04 Gandalf visits Bilbo Could you please restore the previous output, or at least add an option to remove the additional useless blank lines? [Bug 1643506] Re: Upgrade to Ubuntu 16.10 results to crash at launch
Hi again, In case anyone finally decides to read this page some day... OK I got the problem and solution... I switched to Ubuntu 17.04 and the problem is still the same. So I asked for help on the project page: https://github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/issues/2135 Their remark lead me to find indications on the web that QupZilla 1.8 uses libwebkit that has become a pile of crap, and that users HAVE TO switch to QupZilla 2.x branch, which uses libwebengine: http://blog.qupzilla.com/search?updated-min=2017-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&updated-max=2018-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&max-results=3 Would be great if the Ubuntu team would realize the problem and release a package with QupZilla 2.x/libwebengine5 instead of the non-working pile of crap that QupZilla 1.8/libwebkit has become... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643506 Title: Upgrade to Ubuntu 16.10 results to crash at launch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qupzilla/+bug/1643506/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1643506] Re: Upgrade to Ubuntu 16.10 results to crash at launch
Hey guys, It's been almost 3 weeks that this bug report is sitting here and there's absolutely no answer from anyone, whereas it is very critical since the software isn't running at all... What is happening to you guys? I'm reported the bug directly to the QupZilla team (isn't there an automatic process to do that?) https://github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/issues/2135 In the process, I've found this page: https://github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/wiki/Bug-Reports It says: Make sure, that you have installed the latest QupZilla release. For QtWebkit-Engine: Version 1.8.9, released November 11, 2015 For QtWebEngine: Version 2.0.1, released June 8, 2016 I have absolutely no idea how to check what are the versions installed on Ubuntu 16.10, but that might be the key to the problem... ** Bug watch added: github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/issues #2135 https://github.com/QupZilla/qupzilla/issues/2135 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1643506 Title: Upgrade to Ubuntu 16.10 results to crash at launch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qupzilla/+bug/1643506/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1622494] [NEW] nm-connection-editor asks passphrase but does not connect automatically
Public bug reported: Hi, When I log into my Ubuntu (dist-upgraded today), I see a pop up a dialog (from seahorse?) that asks for my passphrase. I assume it is called by the nm-connection-editor/NetworkManager/the related tray icon for network management), since it's the only thing that requires this kind of passphrase right now. I enter the correct passphrase, then then nothing happens, no network is connected to. However, I've at least one wifi network that is configured to "Automatically connect to this network when it is available" and that wifi network IS available. Hi again, @brad-figg: Since whole computer is totally frozen (even SysReq keys do not work), I indeed cannot run apport. @sbeattie: since the problem resides in the kernel, and the computer is totally frozen, I assumed that this was a security issue, as an attacker could locally/remotely freeze the computer... [Bug 1403938] Re: Sound problem with firefox
Again, noticed a "funny" behaviour: When I open an HTML5 sound/video (e.g. from jango.com) in FF, an entry for it appears in pavucontrol. If I mute this, then close the FF tab, the entry in pavucontrol remains, whereas it disappear as soon as I close the window/stop the music when I don't mute anything. Even more funny: If I open another FF tab on with another HTML5 sound/video, then change its volume, to set it to a different value as the other, then I close this new tab, then the old entry is removed, but the new entry remains! [Bug 1602180] [NEW] no megamv?
Public bug reported: Hi, I'm still having trouble to get used to the fact that the synopsis for "megaput" is not "megaput " or that you have to manually create the dest dir before doing a megacopy. Thus, I often end up with all my files being uploaded to the /Root of my mega account. Unfortunately, there is no "megamv" command to help me reorganize my stuff. The only solution is to rm then upload again or to use the web interface. That's a pity. Could you implement a megamv command? Also, using megafs + mv command does not work :{ ** Affects: megatools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602180 Title: no megamv? [Bug 1602175] [NEW] quick search
Public bug reported: Hi, It's been a long time I wanted to report this VERY ANNOYING bug, but I forgot. The bug is as follows: - Do a Quick Search with "/", using all uppercase word, for example "ARRAY" in page: http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2002/12/05/RAID.html - Realize that Quick Search is case insensitive - Hit CTL-f to switch to "Full" Search - Click on "Match Case" - Realize that the switch lowercased your query text... Whereas you asked for the settings of the search to be changed I still don't know if it's the switch to "Full" search or the click on "Match case" that lowers the query text, but that's very annoying If I click on this button it's clearly because the current settings of the search did not work and I want to change it, not because I'm a stupid jerk and I need the machine to decide for me what I want to do... ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Hi, It's been a long time I wanted to report this VERY ANNOYING bug, but I forgot. [Bug 1580219] Re: screen switches off
I find it quite incredible that no one as reacted to this bug, either to confirm it or to correct it... I'm not the only one to have a dual screen with an Haswell architecture (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5200U). Am I? However, in case someone has the same problem, I found the workaround: you have to return to a working kernel, in my case: 4.2.0-35-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP. Since it is not in the repositories for 16.04 LTS, you have to get it manually (and the dependencies, fortunately there are few linux/linux-image/linux-extras/linux-headers) from: http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/kernel/ and install them manually with: dpkg -i or gdebi... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1580219 Title: screen switches off To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1580219/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1580219] Re: screen switches off
Trying to reconfigure Xorg not to use the intel driver, I ran: Xorg -configure :1 This just gave me a black screen with a mouse pointer... Since using the keys to switch workspaces lead to changes in the mouse pointer, I understood that my apps where still there, but not displayed... I used C-A-Suppr to restart and it worked. But this clearly means that the Xorg intel driver IS BROKEN, so please DO SOMETHING... [Bug 916591] Re: The browser causes 20-40% CPU load when displaying an animated gif
I have the same problem, but on an old dual-core desktop machine, firefox takes up to 105% CPU (or more) and often freezes the whole machine. A typical example is when sufing the: http://izismile.com/ web site and open a few tabs with some of its pages. There's always a moment where you open a page like: http://izismile.com/2016/06/03/page,2,daily_gifdump_30_gifs.html and the whole firefox / computer freezes. Interestingly, just opening a single tab with the page: http://izismile.com/2016/06/03/page,2,daily_gifdump_30_gifs.html alone does not seem to cause any problem. Also, using about:config and all its options to clean up memory (GC/CC/Minimize) does not help... So I assume there is a memory leak somewhere that reveals itself under high usage. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/916591 Title: The browser causes 20-40% CPU load when displaying an animated gif To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/916591/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
