[Bug 1754125] Re: Rhythmbox stays running in the background after quit

2019-10-19 Thread GNAServicesInc
This all comes down to a truly awful and bad patch Ubuntu adds that in
effect breaks the program.

It's not upstream, so it's easy to fix

https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=rhythmbox

Comment out 05_hide_on_quit.patch in the series files

Probably could be setup to build with PPA for a fixed version

[Bug 1844024] [NEW] No exit and fails to quit when closed. .

2019-09-14 Thread GNAServicesInc
Public bug reported:

No exit and fails to quit when closed. .

Step to reproduce.

Step 1. Launch Rhythmbox

Issue. No exit or quit option under the file menu. Simply one deceptive close
option.

Step to reproduce.

Step 1. Close Rhythmbox

Issue. Rhythmbox is still running.

This is entirely unacceptable malware like behavior and makes the program
unsuitable for use or distribution.

This issue seems to be limited to bad patches in the Ubuntu version.

We also need:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 19.04
Release:19.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or
by checking in Software Center

  Candidate: 3.4.3-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.4.3-1ubuntu1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
3) What you expected to happen
To be able to close the program after opening it.
4) What happened instead
The program must be killed every time I want to close it.

[Bug 1733251] [NEW] Nautilus Quick Search Slow with Irrelevant Results

2017-11-19 Thread GNAServicesInc
Public bug reported:

Prior to updating to artful (Nautilus 3.26.0) using the quick search
took no noticeable time.

Now its broken. It takes a long time, pulls in all sorts of folders from
outside the search path, and and is in effect, useless.

It seems that the quick search now incorrectly initiates a full system
wide and beyond search when it should be using quick search and not
leaving the current folder.

This non-standard / broken behavior results in what used to take zero
time now being a fruitless and pointless endeavor. This makes the
program pointless for anything but the most basic of usage and makes it
near impossible to navigate larger or complex file structures.

[Bug 253119] Re: PPA packages do not show a changelog in update-manager

2016-06-01 Thread GNAServicesInc
Its been 8 years.

At this point is seems like they are not going to fix it for whatever
reason.

Also, I'm sorry, but no. Having something be broken is never an
acceptable means of passing information to the end user. Period.

And now, with change logs collapsed by default, this is beyond pointless
to not have fixed.

Worse yet, IMO, it gives Update Manager appearance of appearance of
being buggy, sloppy, and thrown together. (That is a real shame)

It's the details like this that make the entire OS feel polished or not.

[Bug 1550790] [NEW] Opened Filepath incorrect

2016-02-27 Thread GNAServicesInc
Public bug reported:

Opened Filepath incorrect when dragging and dropping a folder into the open

Selected folders are ignored when opening a file path.

To recreate the bug:

Open gdmap.
File->Open...
drag a folder into the choose folder window (Drag and Drop)
Press "Open"
The incorrect direction is opened.

Included a patch that fixes the bug.

** Affects: gdmap (Ubuntu)

of the chooser which is not the same as the currently-selected folder.

[Bug 1242982] Re: Can't open in new window

2013-10-23 Thread GNAServicesInc
Sebastien , do not miss understand me, I love Ubuntu. The idea of
having to switch to something else because of this has sort of ruined my
day. I do not want to do it. It is just that for me, and I am sure for
some other people as well, being able to open a file in a new window is
something too fundamental to my workflow and is annoying beyond words.

After reading the comments in the GNOME bug for their 'Reasons' ... I
am at a loss for words. This change is a poor choice to say the least.

If Ubuntu plans to add a patch to this package to revert this change
or make a better file browser of their own, I would be very excited to
hear that.

[Bug 1050188] [NEW] nautilus-open-terminal here exits as soon as it is opened.

2012-09-12 Thread GNAServicesInc
Public bug reported:

On 12.10 beta, Ever since the update to 0.19-2build2 nautilus-open-
terminal here exits as soon as it is opened. (To clarify what I mean,
when I right click and choose Open in Terminal a terminal window will
flash open and then closed ) No *.crash file is created and I can not
seem to find where nautilus-open-terminal logs errors because nothing is
reported to any file in /var/log or in my home folder when this happens.

Today I tried booting off the daily live CD with open-terminal-here
installed on it and same thing. It exits right after it opens.

If you have any suggestions on where I can find useful debugging
information / or what steps I should take to get more helpful
information on this bug I would be more then happy to collect the
information.

Thank you.

[Bug 1020758] Re: gedit crashed with signal 5 in _XReply()

2012-07-04 Thread GNAServicesInc
My bug report dose not contain a .crash file because apport already
unpacked the .crash file into the files (Registers.txt.. etc etc. ) it
attached to this report, so your statement is rather confusing to me.
I am not going to file a new bug report with the same information.

[Bug 961823] [NEW] System locks on boot

2012-03-21 Thread GNAServicesInc
Public bug reported:

My system just updated to Linux (3.2.0-19.31) (I am running precise)

After the update it said I needed to restart. I restarted and the system
just sat at a blank purple screen and would not respond to input such as
ctr-alt-del. After some time I pulled the power and tried again, same.
So I went into grub and booted into 3.2.0-18 and that worked. 3.2.0-19
worked prior to the .31 update.

I am not sure what to do to get you good debugging info because I can't
find any logs about the event. It will not let me use the ubuntu-bug
linux because the old 3.2.0-18 is no longer official and 3.2.0-19 no
longer boots.

[Bug 930007] [NEW] When booting with 32GB ram linux fails to find optimal mtrr when i915 (HD 3000) has 512 MB Ram

2012-02-10 Thread GNAServicesInc
Public bug reported:

I have an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, W/ BIOS 1101, 32GB of RAM and I am running
Ubuntu precise 12.04.

In the BIOS you can set the amount of memory for the iGPU, the HD3000
GPU built into my i7-2600K.

I just upgraded to 32GB of ram. Before the upgrade, I had this set to
512, had mtrr_spare_reg_nr=1 and everything worked fine. After the
upgrade: mtrr_cleanup: can not find optimal value, please specify
mtrr_gran_size/mtrr_chunk_size etc. No matter what I set
mtrr_spare_reg_nr to I got this error. However, I found that if I
turned the amount of memory for the iGPU down to 256, everything works
again.

The dmesg and other info for when the setting was at 512 can be found
on the Post I made before i discovered that changing the iGPU to having
256mb would fix it at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11677053

After changing iGPU to 256, here is the /proc/mttr
/proc/mtrr
reg00: base=0x0 (0MB), size= 2048MB, count=1: write-back
reg01: base=0x08000 ( 2048MB), size= 1024MB, count=1: write-back
reg02: base=0x0bf80 ( 3064MB), size=8MB, count=1: uncachable
reg03: base=0x1 ( 4096MB), size= 4096MB, count=1: write-back
reg04: base=0x2 ( 8192MB), size= 8192MB, count=1: write-back
reg05: base=0x4 (16384MB), size=16384MB, count=1: write-back
reg06: base=0x8 (32768MB), size= 512MB, count=1: write-back
reg07: base=0x82000 (33280MB), size= 256MB, count=1: write-back
reg08: base=0x82fe0 (33534MB), size=2MB, count=1: uncachable
reg09: base=0x0d000 ( 3328MB), size= 256MB, count=1: write-combining

and the dmesg is attached.

[Bug 929974] [NEW] Can not highlight or copy text, such as pkg descriptions

2012-02-09 Thread GNAServicesInc
Public bug reported:

I just installed a fresh copy of precise, 12.04, from the daily CD
(02/09/2012) and it has software-center 5.1.8

I have found that I can not highlight or copy text, such as pkg
descriptions. I do not know if this is a bug or intentional but either
way it is not very convenient.

** Affects: software-center (Ubuntu)

[Bug 920662] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGABRT in __libc_message()

2012-02-09 Thread GNAServicesInc
Sorry I just noticed your reply. I just clean installed the daily CD
from 2/9/2012. I will report back if it happens again, so far no
problems.

I am not sure what I could do to try to reproduce the bug other then
rebooting a lot because it just sort of happened after booting. If you
have any suggestion I am willing to spend some time trying to run it
down, it's just that I really have no idea what to do.

If it dose not happen in the next couple of days I think we can assume
it is no longer an issue.

[Bug 904534] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_cairo_set_source_pixbuf()

2012-02-09 Thread GNAServicesInc
When I reported the bug, the steps to reproduce were, use gedit. This
was actually such a problem that I moved to an earlier version of gedit,
I use gedit a lot. However I just clean installed today (new HDD) and
I should know soon if this is still a problem. If it happens again I
will try to put together specific steps for reproducing the bug.

2011-08-03 Thread GNAServicesInc
I tried, I hope this is helps.

I have also found that the problem is directly tied to it prompting me
for my password. If I run gksu in the terminal to launch it, then it
never crashes. So the crash dose not happen when renicing, it happens
when getting prompted for the password to renice.
