Ubuntu-Gnome 13.10 install (from scratch) Gnome-next ppa Gnome-staging ppa TLP from https://launchpad.net/~linrunner/+archive/tlp TLP properly manages my power settings, and gnome-shell suspends via its menus, via the system hotkeys and resume properly brings up the network. New crazy thing I just experienced! I woke the system from suspend (which I had suspended from the key combination), 20-30 seconds later, the screensaver did it's lock thing (while I was using the machine, it wasn't idle), I hit a key, it lit up and I typed in my password, 30 seconds later again, it did it again. When I unlock it again... NetworkManager miraculously woke up and connect to wifi! I had not noticed this previously because it took so long and I would usually have killed NetworkManager first.. That is a very interesting observation, I also use TLP to control my battery/AC transition of settings. Okay, well I managed to test with 3.9.7-030907-generic from the kernel mainline source. Now, the keyboard backlight is completely off on cold boot, the function keys do nothing, and the screen backlight keys change it very very slowly and no longer trigger the OSD of the brightness changing. The /sys/class/leds/asus::kbd_backlight/brightness item is now missing as well. I'd like to test this out right now, but the combination of xorg-edgers, intel's driver ppa and 3.10 results in no X for me currently. I will try again when the next -rc release(or intel updates) comes out in the hope that it gets fixed up.
