[Bug 1274425] Re: [UX302LG] black screen on boot

2014-03-08 Thread Gabriel Diosan
I have a similar issue on my desktop. When I boot, most of the time all
I get is a black screen with no login window. I can change to a terminal
prompt (ctrl + alt +F2) to reboot the computer. Sometimes I can boot to
the login screen and use the OS normally but this is probably about 25%
of the time.

GPU: AMD Radeon HD7770

[Bug 1283634] [NEW] Text for selected applications in Ubuntu Software Center on Ubuntu Gnome is difficult to read

2014-02-22 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

When selecting an application in Ubuntu Software Center running on
Ubuntu Gnome 14.04, the text is white. This makes it very difficult to
read. The text should change to a darker colour. Not sure if the bug
should be placed against Ubuntu Software Center or another component but
the software center is where the problem shows up.

Screenshot attached shows VLC selected. The white text is difficult to

[Bug 400008]

2013-02-15 Thread Gabriel Diosan
I have thrown some money at the bounty too. Looks like a good idea.
Would be good if the recent documents menu only show documents specific
for each component? For example, recent Writer documents only when
accessing the Open Document from within Writer and Calc documents only
when accessing the Open Document from within Calc? Just a thought.

[Bug 1027043] Re: soffice.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in std::listLink, std::allocatorLink ::remove()

2012-07-26 Thread Gabriel Diosan
The crash usually shows itself in Impress. It seems to happen less often
in the other components.

To reproduce the crash I do the following:

1. Start Libreoffice Impress;
2. Make some changes and close Impress;
3. Click on Discard changes.

The crash does not happen every time. It usually happens 1 in every 10
or so times that you repeat this sequence.

Hi Remi

I tried running vlc -A dummy and vlc --noaudio but the system would
still lock up on both occasions. I notice that the cpu usage would often
increase when the system would lock up. Also, with the noaudio option it
took longer for the system to lock up.

I have attached the kern.log file. If this is not the right file, let me
know where I can find the right one. I have also tried running vlc -v
from terminal when playing the file. I have attached a text file with
the output which I copied from terminal.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 843981] [NEW] vlc locks up system when playing video

2011-09-07 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

This is a problem with the latest version of VLC (version 1.1.11) in
Ubuntu 11.10 Beta.

I started playing an MP4 version of Sintel to test out VLC and after
about 1 minute the whole system locks up. After a few seconds it comes
back and then locks up again a while later. I am running ubuntu in a
virtual machine so I don't know whether this makes any difference.

I have checked a number of system logs but nothing jumped out at me.

VLC in Ubuntu 11.04 had a memory leak which was resolved, I am not sure
whether this issue is related to that memory leak or whether it is
separate issue.

I should also note that this only appears to have been a problem on my
test install after installing some updates to VLC on 05 September.

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 840189] [NEW] some icons in LXPanel appear to be too tall

2011-09-03 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

Not sure if this qualifies as a bug but I thought I would report it and
see how we go.

Certain icons on LXPanel (version 0.5.8) look to be a little too tall.
The file manager icon and Chromium icon look fine but things like
Libreoffice icons and Audacious look a little too big. I have attached a
screenshot to show what I mean.

Increasing the height of the panel does not help. The top of some of the
icons still appear to be too high. The top of the icons should probably
be one or two pixels below the top of the panel. This is the case for
some icons but not all it seems.

[Bug 840201] [NEW] libreoffice menu buttons are not visible when clicked in Lubuntu 11.10

2011-09-03 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

I installed Libreoffice and the package Libreoffice-gtk in Lubuntu
11.10 beta. When starting any of the Libreoffice programs and clicking
on the top menu buttons, the text disappears and all you see is white.
The text in the actual menu itself appears fine but the top text (e.g
File, Edit, View, Insert ect) is not visible. I have attached a
screenshot as it is a bit hard to describe.

It looks like a bug in Libreoffice-gtk but I am not 100% sure.

[Bug 839280] [NEW] transmission slow to start

2011-09-01 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

Transmission 2.33-0Ubuntu2 takes quite some time to start when first
launched. The current transmission (version 2.13) in Ubuntu 11.04 starts
much faster.

No crash report is generated and starting Transmission the second time
is faster. I'm not sure whether the new version of Transmission is doing
something in the background that the current version is not or whether
it indeed is a bug.

[Bug 836640] [NEW] apps shortcuts in Dash do not work

2011-08-29 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

After clicking on the Dash icon, none of the top row (Media Apps,
Internet Apps, More Apps and Find Files) work. Clicking on them just
closes Dash. This is not the expected behaviour. Everything else in Dash
appears to work correctly.

No crash is reported by Apport and I am not sure where to get the
relevant logs. Had a quick look in var/log/ but nothing dealing with
Dash jumped out at me.

[Bug 836669] [NEW] gnome-screenshot only captures wallpaper

2011-08-29 Thread Gabriel Diosan
Public bug reported:

When trying to grab a screenshot of the entire desktop, gnome screenshot
only grabs the default Ubuntu wallpaper (not the one in use) and none of
the panels. It does capture the mouse pointer.
