[Bug 1914243] [NEW] coulnd able upgrade to 2020.04

2021-02-02 Thread Ganesh reddy
Public bug reported:

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This was likely caused by:
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
Please use the tool 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge
package to remove software from a Launchpad PPA and
try the upgrade again.

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to
investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will
contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and
'apt.log'.

[Bug 1604617] Re: dhclient does not send fqdn.fqdn for DHCPv6

2020-06-26 Thread Ganesh
Hi, This is not working for me.
I have installed dhcpd4.4.2 and dhclient4.4.2. I am using centos7 for server
and client.
My dhclient6.conf has below entries in it:
send fqdn.fqdn "hostname.domain.name";
send host-name "hostname";

But when I get a lease6 there is no any details about hostname/fqdn in
the dhcpd.leases file on the dhcp server.

Please help.

2019-01-11 Thread Ganesh Kharche
Hi Christian,

Thanks for the quick update. Now the problem has been solved. The issue may
arise due to upgrading Ubuntu in 18.04, during that period some of the
files have been misplaced.

[Bug 1610650] Re: can't sync sources

2016-08-16 Thread ganesh varma
This sync errors occur randomly and when i have reported this to Alan
Pope he contacted the system admins and the servers ran fine for a
couple of days after they have been restarted, but now it came back
again. For people who are experiencing 503 service unavailable error
this could also be of a low buffer size in git(mostly experienced when
syncing ndk repository). Whoever facing an issue while syncing
repository of above 2gb or more(in this case the ndk repo) change your
http.postbuffer to a higher value in git by running this command.

git config --global http.postBuffer 524288000 (you can also double this
value to 1048576000)

[Bug 1550481] Re: hpsa driver causing kernel panics on HP ProLiant DL385p Gen8

2016-02-29 Thread Ganesh Lakshminarayana
Please try diabling IOMMU from RBSU (System options->Processors->IOMMU
disable). When IOMMU is disabled, OS boots as expected. When IOMMU is
enabled, issue is seen.

2013-03-28 Thread ganesh
Public bug reported:

I wanted to translateVolume (%#x27;.0f%%)

and I am getting this error and not sure what is my mistake, I am
translating it into Assamese language its one of Indian languages

Re: [Bug 834476] Re: siletransfer to usb drive very slow in ubuntu 11.04

2012-07-30 Thread Ganesh
Hi
Actually I have upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 but the problem of slow
transfer of files from system to usb device still remains.I don't know
whether I have to raise the new bug report or not . Please suggest
thank You

christopher.penal...@gmx.com wrote:

Ganesh, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
 http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

 apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available? It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the
kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on
which kernel version specifically you tested.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
 tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment
as to why specifically you were unable to test it.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

Re: [Bug 989116] Re: Could not find ratings and reviews for application in ubuntu software centre after upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04

2012-04-30 Thread Ganesh
Hello Gary,
Thank you very much for the reply. Actually I had tried what you have told
but it didn't workout. I had also tried to reinstal the USC without much
help. But just two days back I have reinstalled PP12.04 and I am happy that
USC shows the ratings, recommendations and the books section actually
shows books.
Thank you very much for your time and support.

gary.las...@canonical.comwrote:

Hello Ganesh, and thank you for your report! Actually, the ratings and
reviews feature is a web-based service and so there is a small delay
while a background process is invoked to download the ratings and
reviews data. Please start Ubuntu Software Center again and give it a
bit of time, and then let us know if you still cannot see the ratings
data. If you still do not see them, there are further steps we can try
that will debug the problem. If you *do* see the data, please report
that back as well so that we can close this bug.

 Many thanks for your help!

[Bug 760131] Re: Power consumption raised significantly in natty

2011-09-30 Thread Ganesh S Hegde
i have not tested the patched kernel in natty but as far as oneiric goes
the power regression is significantly higher than it was ever in
Natty... i see 22 W idle and upto 34 W usage on normal browsing in
oneiric 3.0.0.11 which is the Oneiric Beta 2 kernel... it was mentioned
in #179 that the fix has been released, but despite having a first
generation core i3-370M processor. I cant report a duplicate bug about
the same issue . Please fix it in Oneiric or atleast keep a seperate
older kernel based on 2.6.37.6 or earlier seperately for laptop
users.

[Bug 858406] [NEW] in oneiric, unity dash is too slow when using ATI fglrx drivers in Maximum battery mode in powerplay settings

2011-09-24 Thread Ganesh S Hegde
Public bug reported:

when powerplay mode in fglrx driver is set to maximum battery
irrespective of whether its on AC or on Battery mode , opening the dash,
and searching becomes unusably slow, this issue was not existing in natty

1) Release 11.10 beta 2
2)fglrx:
  Installed: 2:8.881-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 2:8.881-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 2:8.881-0ubuntu2 0
unity:
  Installed: 4.16.0-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 4.16.0-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 4.16.0-0ubuntu2 0
3) the dash was very responsive in Natty regardless the Powerplay option in
fglrx Catalyst control center
4) the dash opens extremely slowly in oneiric , and typing the search query is
extremely sluggish when Powerplay option is set to maximum battery whether it
is on AC or on battery...

the workaround for the issue is to set the Powerplay option to Maximum
Performance Mode, which leads to normal performance but it will kill the
battery life as well as heat up the machine considerably more by running
the gpu in higher clock...

Re: [Bug 834476] Re: siletransfer to usb drive very slow in ubuntu 11.04

2011-09-08 Thread Ganesh
Hi
I tried to disable the wifi from the comand line
sudo rmmod r8192*
 but i got this message

ganesh@ganesh-HCL-ME-Laptop:~$ sudo rmmod r8192*
[sudo] password for ganesh:
ERROR: Module r8192* does not exist in /proc/modules
ganesh@ganesh-HCL-ME-Laptop:~$

so i disabeled it from the hardware switch (Fn+F11)which didn't improve the
copy time

then i captured the usbmon results which i have attached
then when i ran the 'dd'
which gave this
ganesh@ganesh-HCL-ME-Laptop:~$ sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/udisk/tmp
oflag=direct bs=120K count=2K
[sudo] password for ganesh:
dd: opening `/media/udisk/tmp': Not a directory

i also ran ran the old dd command you have given and this is the result
ganesh@ganesh-HCL-ME-Laptop:~$ sudo dd if=/dev/null of=/media/udisk bs=120K
count=1K
0+0 records in
0+0 records out
0 bytes (0 B) copied, 8.262e-06 s, 0.0 kB/s
ganesh@ganesh-HCL-ME-Laptop:~$
funny thing is i dont know what i am doing, i just followed your
instructions
plz suggest

Yes, do the same as before, just start to capture usbmon first, then run
 'dd'.

BTW, your disabling wifi should be good, but it is safe to do with
 below:

  sudo rmmod r8192*

  Dear Ming lei,
I am new to linux and ubuntu I have tried to follow the instruction as
given by the link you have provided hope this is what is expected from my
side i will be happy to hear from you if this is not how it is done plz
  suggest.

This is just what I expected, nice job, :-)

I have tried to capture the usbmon results as per the instruction. this
 what
i have listened on all the serial buses and the out is named 1.mon.out
  thanks

I only had a glance at the trace, and found some transfer is very slow,
 see below:

The slowest one(maybe) takes about 706ms to transfer only 120K bytes to
 your usb mass storage disk:

 /*CB: send out WRITE10 command*/
 8800b1fb2780 3396606803 S Bo:2:004:2 -115 31 = 55534243 2522
 00e00100 0a2a 4cdf c8f0 00
 8800b1fb2780 3396607106 C Bo:2:004:2 0 31

/*DATA: write out 120K bytes to usb mass storage disk*/
 880093a52480 3396607143 S Bo:2:004:2 -115 122880 = 30317762
 1000 18752006 e001 30306463 00772006 5d05
 880093a52480 3397313202 C Bo:2:004:2 0 122880

/*CS: get the ack from device*/
 8800b1fb2780 3397313366 S Bi:2:004:1 -115 13
 8800b1fb2780 3397313583 C Bi:2:004:1 0 13 = 55534253 2522
 00

Also there are other more slow transfers, see [1].

From 1.3 and 1.4, CPU takes long time to get CS, and looks like it is very
odd, maybe some device driver disabled irq for long time, so some
 suggestions for you:

 - someone reported realtek wifi driver may disable irq for long time
sometime, so please disable your wifi and do the file transfer test to
 see if there
 are any improvements.

 - if no improvements, run the tests below to post the reports:

 dd if=/dev/null of=/media/udisk bs=120K count=1K

/media/udisk is the mount point of your usb mass storage disk, please be
careful to do the tests since it may destroy your data in usb disk.

How did you disable the realtek wifi?

  ganesh@ganesh-HCL-ME-Laptop:~$ sudo dd if=/dev/null of=/media/udisk
 bs=120K
  count=1K

Sorry, maybe you should do the below:

  sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/udisk/tmp oflag=direct bs=120K
 count=2K,

and /media/udisk is the mount point of your usb disk, still capture
 the usbmon log
 for the 'dd' test.

Also you can use another usb mass storage to do the same test and see if
 there
 will be any changes.

How did you disable the realtek wifi?

  ganesh@ganesh-HCL-ME-Laptop:~$ sudo dd if=/dev/null of=/media/udisk
 bs=120K
  count=1K

Sorry, maybe you should do the below:

  sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/udisk/tmp oflag=direct bs=120K
 count=2K,

and /media/udisk is the mount point of your usb disk, still capture
 the usbmon log
 for the 'dd' test.

Also you can use another usb mass storage to do the same test and see if
 there
 will be any changes.

Re: [Bug 760131] Re: Power consumption raised significantly in natty

2011-09-02 Thread Ganesh S Hegde
i am running 3.0.3 compiled from source in natty , and not
experiencing any battery or heat issues... i get 11 -14 w max
consumption in ... and upto 19-20 W on AC,i have kept cpu freq to
'ondemand' and also i have turned on pcie.aspm=force, I guess the
issue is fixed in 3.0 kernel series i dint apply any patches, or
tweaks, just did a simple menuconfig.
the most important thing is laptop doesnt heat now (60 degrees in
2.6.37 v/s 55 in 3.0.3)
mine is a HP g42, Core i3-370M, 3GB DDR3,
hopefully i dint troll

On 9/2/11, fejes 760...@bugs.launchpad.net wrote:
Even if that were so, when my laptop goes into battery mode, with all of
the aggressive power saving modes throttling the CPU, etc, it's
unacceptable for it to be running so hot. I wouldn't normally care if
it's plugged in and sucking up power, but when the power is supposed to
be scaled back, it shouldn't be taking up more power ( even at the cost
 of decreased responsiveness.)

In any case, as of yesterday, after a kernel update, my laptop is now
consuming 14-17W of power when on battery, as opposed to the 19-25W it
was taking last week. While not as good as the 11-14W range I had going
with Maverick, it's an improvement. I don't recall seeing anything in
the kernel changelog that would indicate a change to the power
consumption, but I'm not a kernel expert. In any case, I have not
altered any of my power saving optimizations between the two tests, and
I had used the force acpi trick much earlier on.

If it stays this way for now, that's not a bad sign.

[Bug 709642] Re: acpid client disconnected restarts gnome session

2011-05-08 Thread ganesh
yup this also happens to me

when I checked file /var/log/syslog at the time I was logged out I have
this

May 8 10:38:42 username acpid: client [0:0] has disconnected

and also it (I don't know if it's just a coincidence) happens just at
the same time as I middle clicked on a link to open a new tab which
points to this link: http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/

Kind regards,

Ganesh

[Bug 630198] [NEW] package bandwidthd 2.0.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 2

2010-09-04 Thread Ganesh Kumar Thevar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bandwidthd

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx

Bandwidthd is always seen in the update manager and whenever i try to
download the package i get the following message - E:
/var/cache/apt/archives/bandwidthd_2.0.1+cvs20090917-3_i386.deb:
subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 2

Unable to install or upgrade the package. On attempting to remove package
through synaptic package manager I get the message that the package is in a bad
inconsistent state and hence need to be reinstalled. Since I am not able to
reinstall it I am caught in a vicious circle. Though i do not miss anything due
to bug in the package. I am not able to download VLC media player as it seems
to be dependent on Bandwithd.

I am also attaching the term.log file. I am doing so as I had come
across in some forum,
