According to Table 10.1 Special Character Escape Sequences [1]. If
debconf dialog can't be input unprintable character, We can easily and
safely escape single quote to resolve this issue.

i have same problem on my Ubuntu 11.10 amd64 desktop since release,
i use lxterminal instead gnome-terminal, but still happen!

Hardware: Intel Core2Duo E5200,  4G RAM

go to System Settings (Control Center), you will see Common Tasks in
left panel, click "Set Preferred Applications" and change Web Browser to
Google Chrome, it works to me.
