[Bug 2072385] [NEW] not able to upgrade to ubuntu 24.x04 due to lack of ubuntu-minimal on system

2024-07-06 Thread Gautam Menon
Public bug reported:

the error message I receive says the following:

After updating your package information, the essential package 'ubuntu-
minimal' could not be located. This may be because you have no official
mirrors listed in your software sources, or because of excessive load on
the mirror you are using. See /etc/apt/sources.list for the current list
of configured software sources.

[Bug 1904850] [NEW] Gnocchi plugin fails to load when there is issue with Keystone connection

2020-11-19 Thread Gautam Prasad
Public bug reported:

When openstack services are restarted and Keystone is not fully up or is
up but failed to respond the connection request, then Gnocchi publisher
plugin fails to load.

I am not sure if the Gnocchi publisher can be refactored to allow plugin
to load initially and initialize/retry for keystone connection later
when it becomes available.. ?

Openstack release: ussuri.

2018-12-05 Thread Nikhil Gautam
I don't know why Manjaro 18 (Gnome) works for me?maybe I got lucky ;-);
clean install, no damn boot args, everything works( brightness keys,
trackpad on advanced, etc), power management works like a charm.

At first, I had a WiFi bug, which was fixed when I updated Manjaro using
ethernet connection.

My laptop is Acer Aspire A315-41(Ryzen 5 2500u).Also, there will be no
WiFi issues if you can use KDE version, but just find it very buggy and
slow, so kept using Gnome

Can I have a final solution to this problem??

I have the same Acer Aspire A314 with Ryzen 5 2550u, 8 GB RAM and 1TB
HDD.

I tried multiple times and with different distro including the latest
Ubuntu 18.10 and Manjaro Linux, still face the problem.

If someone breakbtge fix down to a few simple steps which I can follow,
it will would be highly appreciated.

[Bug 1376970] Re: Segmentation fault when launching nam executable

2017-06-10 Thread gautam sahu
How to Install NS-2.35 in Ubuntu- 15.10 / 16.04 Step-by-Step

Refer : https://youtu.be/c5zjM5d7hMI
OR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5zjM5d7hMI=6s

Install NS2

First, check that the universe repository is enabled by inspecting
'/etc/apt/sources.list' with your favourite editor. You will need to use sudo
to ensure that you have permissions to edit the file.
1.)sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
If universe is not included then modify the file so that it does.
2.)deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu wily main universe
After any changes you should run this command to update your system.
3.)sudo apt-get update
4.)sudo apt-get install ns2

Install Nam
5.)sudo apt-get purge nam
6.)wget --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.2; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/4.0.1"
"http://technobytz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/nam_1.14_amd64.zip;
7.)unzip nam_1.14_amd64.zip
8.)sudo dpkg -i nam_1.14_amd64.deb
9.)sudo apt-mark hold nam

If you are facing problem for nam then follow step from 5 to on-words.

2011-06-16 Thread Anurag Gautam
I don't think so this can be a reason. In my case i was working with 3-4
normal application and it get auto logged off just after login.

Requesting to developers to check this issue, as this getting irritated
day by day. Also there is issue of hang while leaving system idle for
20-30 min.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 517505, so it is being marked as such. Please look at
the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you
can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug.
Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in
the other report. Please continue to report any other bugs you may find.

As noted in bug #517505, the workaround for this problem is:
 1. Quit the Ubuntu One client. From the applet select Quit. Then open a
Terminal (Applications Accessories Terminal) and run the following to
 quit the syncdaemon.

 u1sdtool -q

 2. Delete the old metadata. In a Terminal run.

 rm -rf ~/.local/share/ubuntuone

 3. Start Ubuntu One as you normally would Applications Internet
 Ubuntu One

[Bug 157310] Re: cannot get usr5410 wireless card to work

2009-04-26 Thread Gautam Rupak
New here. I am not sure if I should file a new report as it concerns
Ubuntu 9.04. I had a similar problem with Ubuntu 8.10.

Installed 9.04, the problem is still there. What I find is that if the
card is inserted then Ubuntu freezes, and doesn't install. After
installation, it hangs in the boot process. If I insert it after
booting, the system hangs.

I am trying it on a Dell inspiron 4150 laptop. At this point it is a
bit hard to provide any details because the system freezes when I insert
the card.

I can try to gather the details that are pertinent in several stages
between the freeze if the experts let me know what information they
need.

[Bug 172745] Suspend to RAM Trouble - Time Dependent

2007-11-29 Thread Gautam
Public bug reported:

My happiness with the Suspend feature just got a dose of reality. If I
keep it in suspend mode for extended periods of time, say over an hour,
it refuses to wake up. I get 'Linux' in yellow written near the top
left, in text mode, and the only way out is a hard boot.

I cannot, for the love of money, figure out how a short, say a few
minutes, suspend and a long suspend differ.

My bad. I'm running Gutsy on a Lenovo 3000 G400 laptop [1] with:

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Broadcom 4311 Wireless Card with the ndiswrapper.

Please let me know if there's any further information I can send your
way.

I did add the hpet=disable option to the end of /boot/grub/menu.lst but
it does not make a difference and cat /proc/timer_list | grep Clock
Event Device still shows Clock Event Device: hpet
