[Bug 1614806] Re: This package breaks "ark" rar support

2016-10-15 Thread Gavin Sharpe
This bug seems to be present on Kubuntu 16.10 also.

Attempting to open a rar file gives "No suitable plugin found.
Ark does not seem to support this file type."

Ark 16.04.3

dpkg -s shared-mime-info | grep Version
Version: 1.7-1

I have installed rar, unrar, p7zip-rar. I can extract files from the
command-line but not from Ark.

[Bug 1573347] Re: Amarok's "Recently Added Albums" applet is empty

2016-04-23 Thread Gavin Sharpe
Some extra info after testing:

Version 2:2.8.0-0ubuntu9 as well as having the broken applet, the app
uses over 400MB of ram on startup whereas the older version
2:2.8.0-0ubuntu7 only uses 60MB of ram.

For the moment I've downgraded and pinned Amarok so I can use it
properly.

After using Gwenview and then exiting the app, the process stays in

Actually, further to my previous comment I notice that I only have
XRender available, if I select OpenGL it still crashes.

After booting into -19, I pressed SHIFT+ALT+F12 and it re-enabled
desktop effects and they've stayed on since.

[Bug 1299499] Re: kwin crashes on desktop startup with wobbly windows enabled

2014-03-29 Thread Gavin Sharpe
This seems to be similar to what happened to me. It occurred since
updating to 3.13.0-20-generic. If I boot into 3.13.0-19-generic Kwin
does not crash and desktop effects work.

I've been using the patched package from comment #26 for the past 48+
hours and haven't had any crashes or lockups. It seems to have fixed it
here.
