[Bug 225368] [NEW] custom category for telephone, im, url and addresses
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I'm sorry for some bad expressions in this text, but my mothertounge in german: I switched to Ubuntu from Mac, where i used Addressbook (included in Mac OS X) for organizing my contacts. I already used Outlook on Windows before switching to Mac, and when i first started Addressbook on Mac I was really suprised to have, what a allways wanted to have: a really felixble addressbook. What i mean, is that there you can put a tag for every entery in the contact in order to organize it better. It also helps you to remind of the meaning of certain information. For example some people heave several private or work numbers. Therefore you can give custom tags like private, number in offce ord private, number in the gardenhouse, etc. it's acctualy even more important for worknumbers or even addresses. For example, today studens have more than two private addresses, like one of the house of the partens, one of the grandparents, one of the girlfriend, etc. What i want to say in general, that it would be great if you could improve Evolution in future in this way, that you can make it more flexible, and you are not just bound to the given fileds and categories, etc. Of course i understand, that most of the categories are specified by the vCard-format, but as i browsed through these specifications, i'm sure that you can nevertheless make it more flexible! I already thought about writing my own webdatabaseApp for implimantig these ideas, but i don't want to reinvent the wheel! I would like to use Evolution in future! If you wish I will try to find out together with you what should be changed to make Evolutionaddressbook more flexible! ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- custom category for telephone, im, url and addresses https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/225368 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
