[Bug 1692215] Re: package grub-pc 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.10 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2017-05-20 Thread Geoff Riley
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1692175 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1692175

To be clear on my previous comment, the fix recommended is adding a semicolon
on line 699 of
  /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-pc.postinst
(use sudo with your favourite text editor)

Changing:
  if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" lt-nl 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.10 then
into
  if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" lt-nl 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.10 ; then

…and then instructing pdkg to complete the configuration with:
  sudo dpkg --configure grub-pc

Correction suggested for efi version in LP: #1692175 comment #8 appears
to also be a fix for this package.

[Bug 1692215] [NEW] package grub-pc 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.10 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2017-05-20 Thread Geoff Riley
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 16.04LTS. Automatic package updater indicated grub2 needed
updating. When it finished it said there was a problem and asked if I
wanted to report it. After clicking 'Report it' no further action was
taken at that time. I have just rebooted, and the 'there was a problem'
dialog box reappear, this time clicking 'Report it' elicited a password
prompt and eventual display of this page.

My system appears, on the surface, to be working correctly at the
moment, but I have not done much since the reboot.

Bug report #1692175 sounds similar but is for the efi version of grub.

[Bug 980895] Re: Xscreensaver 'interferometry' crashes session

2012-06-03 Thread Geoff Riley
Yes, it's still happening. I came to see if anyone had a solution for
it: apparently not.

I'm seeing exactly the same problem as shadowfirebird when I worked down
through the screensavers on 12.04 Precise after upgrading from 11.10
Oneiric.
