[Bug 2079039] Re: signature stored on a nfs share not working with the snap

2024-10-13 Thread Georg Pelz
"browser.download.force_save_internally_handled_attachments" does seem to fix
the problem only on that system.
Then logging in on PC_A signatures are shown.
Logging out on PC_A and logging in on PC_B, signatures are not show.
Logging back in on PC_A signatures are back.
So this does not fix the problem as a whole, but it seems to be related somehow.

[Bug 2079039] Re: signature stored on a nfs share not working with the snap

2024-10-13 Thread Georg Pelz
Setting "browser.download.force_save_internally_handled_attachments" to
true, seems to fix the problem here. Don't know why, but after switching
"browser.download.force_save_internally_handled_attachments" to true the
last three days, the signatures did non disappear like they did before,
but the "/run/user/.." content was properly recreated after shutting
down and restarting the system.

I noticed that if I log out a user and log back in, the signatures work.
If I shut down, then start the system up again and then login, the signatures
do not work.

[Bug 1950703] Re: Keyboard input does't work in several apps with iBus running

2024-09-15 Thread Georg Pelz
Not sure this helps, but I had this problem with multiple users and some
not on Ubuntu 24.04 Desktop, figured out that using:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-im-module gtk-im-context-
simple

fixed the problem, after that and rebooting, keyboard input worked again
in Firefox, Thunderbird and Chromium. (needed to call this per account)

[Bug 2079039] [NEW] Signature link changed

2024-09-05 Thread Georg Pelz
Public bug reported:

We work in workspace with changing pcs. (home folders are in the network)
We migrated from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Desktop to Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS Desktop.
We use thunderbird 128.1.0esr-1 through snap.
Our signature all lie on an nfs mount (/var/nfs/oeffentlich/emailsignaturen/)
(fstab: nfs.mydomain:/var/nfs /var/nfs nfs4
_netdev,default), where everybody as read access (drwxr-xr-x 1 nobody nogroup
5,3K Aug 28 09:27 emailsignaturen).

After the update, Thunderbird no longer pointed to
"/var/nfs/oeffentlich/emailsignaturen/mysignature.html"
but to "/home/myuser/var/nfs/oeffentlich/emailsignaturen/mysignature.html".

Correcting this to "/var/nfs/oeffentlich/emailsignaturen/mysignature.html" by
directly editing the text, did not show an error, but the signature wasn't
shown.
Using the file open dialog and selecting
"/var/nfs/oeffentlich/emailsignaturen/mysignature.html" Thunderbird / snap
changed the link to:
"/run/user/2087/doc/e967c83e/mysignature.html"
Now the signature is shown, but only as long as I'm on the same pc.
When switching to another PC the linked file isn't there and I again have no
signature.

No clue, whether this is a thunderbird or snap issue, but this is really a pain!
Would be nice if this could be fixed.

[Bug 2061981] Re: chromium fails to start with non-standard home directory

Thanks for the suggestion, but the workaround:

does not work here.

fingers crossed
I more and more seems like that as soon something is migrated to snap it breaks
on way or the other.
Luckily Firefox snap works atm.,...

[Bug 1932297] Re: 8:6.9.7.4+dfsg-16ubuntu6.11 break pcx 1bit creation

2021-06-22 Thread Georg Pelz
I found a workaround by using an intermediate file which works with
20.04 and on my 18.04 system.

first crop&co, but output to .gif using:
convert -crop 1200x800+1+1 +repage -rotate 180 -crop +2+1 +repage -rotate -90
-bordercolor white -border 1x1 -resize 1200
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_test.gif -colorspace Gray -depth 1 -colors
2 -depth 1 upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_bw.gif

file upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_bw.gif
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_bw.gif: GIF image data, version 89a, 1200 x
1800

then convert the new .gif to pcx using:
convert upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_bw.gif
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx

file upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx: PCX ver. 3.0 image data bounding box
[0, 0] - [1199, 1799], 1-bit colour, RLE compressed

-> no clue, why the additional step is necessary, but it fixes the issue for me.
May be the workaround also helps to figure out what changed in imagemagick that
breaks the direct gif->pcx conversion with the cropping&co.

2021-06-21 Thread Georg Pelz
Okay, I tried it on another 18.04 system and there the calls work
properly.

When running the calls on my desktop system (20.04) I get:
$ dpkg -l | grep imagemagick

$ convert -crop 1200x800+1+1 +repage -rotate 180 -crop +2+1 +repage
-rotate -90 -bordercolor white -border 1x1 -resize 1200
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_test.gif -colorspace Gray -depth 1
-colors 2 -depth 1 -colorspace Gray
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx

$ file upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx: PCX ver. 3.0 image data bounding box
[0, 0] - [1199, 1799], 3 planes each of 8-bit colour, RLE compressed

so there I got the issue too. :/

-> I'll do some more and try to figure out what the difference between my two
18.04 server systems is. But from the looks of it, it's something unique to
some of my systems and not a general imagemagick bug like I feared.

Thanks for checking.

before the update calling:

convert -crop 1200x800+1+1 +repage -rotate 180 -crop +2+1 +repage
-rotate -90 -bordercolor white -border 1x1 -resize 1200
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_test.gif -colorspace Gray -depth 1
-colors 2 -depth 1 -colorspace Gray
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx

to modify UPS labels to send them to my label printer worked fine.
file upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx
properly returned:
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1_mitalterVersion.pcx: PCX ver. 3.0 image
data bounding box [0, 0] - [1199, 1799], 1-bit colour, RLE compressed

now calling the same calls returns a:
upsversandauftrag_etikett_1848655-1.pcx: PCX ver. 3.0 image data bounding box
[0, 0] - [1199, 1799], 3 planes each of 8-bit colour, RLE compressed
and a file which can't be fed to my label printer.

file size of the old output was 135K, while the new one is 619K.

Only way to fix this so far was going back to 8:6.9.7.4+dfsg-16ubuntu6
(8:6.9.7.4+dfsg-16ubuntu6.9 wasn't available) and hold any updates for
those packages. :/
