In case somebody else lands here, also to mention that for proper ordering (workaround #3) you need not only to fill in the correct 'track count' but also to fill in the correct disc number and sync across all songs, possibly even resync the artist and album fields. I don't know if this helps but the same happens to me too when launching pidgin from the messaging menu at the top right. Confirmed. On default settings it behaves properly. Memory leak starts when I disable Grid or enable window preview if this is of any help.
