[Bug 841409] Re: GEdit is the only choice as Calendar application in Default Applications dialog
Ok, this bug seems to disappear when a proper calendar application is installed (e.g. Maya in my case) (see the attached screenie). Also, this is a bug is not a gedit one (captain obvious), cuz gedit's category are: Categories=GNOME;GTK;Utility;TextEditor; and no: Categories=GTK;Office;Calendar; It's most likely caused by the fact that there is no out of the box calendar app which makes me think - is there really a need for Calendar application in Default Applications dialog? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/841409 Title: GEdit is the only choice as Calendar application in Default Applications dialog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/841409/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 963140] Re: Dash picking a really odd color with default wallpaper
There is a dirty way to fix it: Go to /usr/share/backgrounds and rename warty-final-ubuntu.png to whatever-you-want.png (as in whatever name you want). Doing that will fix the bug, but will make it unavaivable in the OTB wallpaper list, so go to /usr/share/gnome-background-properties and edit the ubuntu-wallpapers.xml. The first entry is the default wallpaper, rename "/usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png" to "/usr/share/backgrounds/whatever-you-want.png" After that reboot and it should be fine. However according to @om26er (and I'm willing to agree with him), the BG color is written in libgnome-desktop there must be a problem somewhere in that code. A few days ago it was saved in dconf now its moved to libgnome-desktop and the issue started after that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/963140 Title: Dash picking a really odd color with default wallpaper To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/963140/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sure thing. I start any gnome session (Unity, Pantheon, Gnome-Shell etc...) and they all look broken. And by broken I mean: GTK 2 apps look ugly (they use some fallback GTK 2 theme, see the equalizer on screenshot I originally attached) The fonts are not the fonts I've selected via Gnome-tweak-Tool (I use the default Ubuntu font configuration), GTK 3 apps have text below the icons in their toolbars, although I've not enabled that. (see the screenshot I've attached to this comment) In Unity GTK 3 apps (not GTK 2) have a menubar + appmenu. Every app has a "working middle-click" :) For example an app without the "New window" quicklist is Minitube. [Bug 916114] Re: middle click should close app and not open new window
Right, but if the icons to the apps that have "New Window" quiclists get patched and others don't a UX inconsistency appears, middle clicking on the non-quicklisted apps will open new instance and middle clicking on the quicklisted will close them. And apart from introducing inconsistent behaviour this can be kinda confusing and makes the user remember which apps has the "New Window" quicklists and which doesn't. [Bug 916114] Re: middle click should close app and not open new window
Right, all things considered here: To close an app the user can A) Click the "close button" or B) Right click on the launcher and then click on "Quit". To open a new instance of an app the user *must* A) Middle click on the app icon on the launcher. Surely some apps have "New window" in their quicklists menu, but not all of them. And even if all of the default apps have the "New Window" quicklists, what happens with those that does not come out of the box. It's impossible that EVERY app to be patched to have such quicklist. So re-assigning middle-click to "close" instead of "new instance" will remove the only way to open new window for EVERY app, which I daresay will not be a good call :) P.S. [Bug 912682] Re: Compiz add transparency to titlebar along with the panel
Thinking of what @CassidyJames said and from pure design point of view I don't consider transparent titlebars to be a good idea, because they break the consistency with the window bellow them *BIG* time (Win 7, anyone). That means even if this ... well whatever it is becomes a feature (gets fixed to look nice with all themes, buttons should stay opaque etc...) it should not come enabled out of the box. Also, if "panel transparency" also affects the thumbs of the overlay scrollbars, that's gotta be a bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912682 Title: Compiz add transparency to titlebar along with the panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/912682/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 912682] Re: Compiz add transparency to titlebar along with the panel

[Bug 912682] Re: Compiz add transparency to titlebar along with the panel
Well, there is not an option for titlebar opacity in CCSM, which kinda indicates that this is more of a bug, but even if that's a fact, I still consider it more of a feature. [Bug 764321] Re: Please add launcher quicklist for banshee
Sorry about the attachment complication, next time I will attach the .desktop files and the screenshot separately ;) And the is only one .dektop file in the tarball - banshee.desktop, I dropped the Firefox quicklist thing due to the fact that there is already such a bug and Bilal Akhtar is his 'fixer'. As far as testing goes I've tested it on two machines runing the latest and greatest Unity and Banshee quicklists work like a charm (screenshots included at the tarball), the .desktop file is strange, because quicklist syntax is bit different from an ordinary .desktop file syntax. Here is the included stuff in the .desktop file: X-Ayatana-Desktop-Shortcuts=Play;Pause;Stop;Previous;Next;Preferences [Play Shortcut Group] Name=Play Name[bg]=Изпълнение Exec=banshee --play TargetEnvironment=Unity [Pause Shortcut Group] Name=Pause Name[bg]=Паузиране Exec=banshee --pause TargetEnvironment=Unity [Stop Shortcut Group] Name=Stop Name[bg]=Спиране Exec=banshee --stop TargetEnvironment=Unity [Previous Shortcut Group] Name=Previous Name[bg]=Предишна Exec=banshee --previous TargetEnvironment=Unity [Next Shortcut Group] Name=Next Name[bg]=Следваща Exec=banshee --next TargetEnvironment=Unity [Preferences Shortcut Group] Name=Preferences Name[bg]=Настройки Exec=banshee --show-preferences TargetEnviroment=Unity Hoping I've cleared things up ;) If you have any recomendations to be added to the quicklists I'm listening :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/764321 Title: Please add launcher quicklist for banshee -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: - One of the things that has been bugging with Unity is the lack or - quicklists for the default apps. Firefox has only a "New Window" - quicklist and Banshee has no quicklists at all. Surely this quicklists - can be added with editing the .desktop, but it would be way better if - they come by default. Check the - .desktop files attached. I know it is not a lot actions I've added but I - am planing to add more today.
