[Bug 881147] Re: alt+f7 gain full access to a password protected account

2011-11-06 Thread Goldy
I REinstalled the lock screen package.
now I choose system lock screen to get the screensaver (real lock), then in
order to prevent freezing I click ctrl+alt+f4 to get the command line.

unfortunately choosing system logout switch user will STILL show
my 'protected' desktop to less then a second before demanding a
password, if stay on the screensaver will freez my desktop!

[Bug 881147] [NEW] alt+f7 gain full access to a password protected account

2011-10-24 Thread Goldy
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

On ubuntu 10.04, I choose System Disconnect Swich User,
then at the login screen I click Ctrl+Alt+F4 to get a command line over a black
screen. the problem: clicking Alt+F7 redirect back to my password 'protected'
desktop WITHOUT entering password!

How is it possible and how can I fix it?

Description:Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
Release:10.04

apt-cache policy login
login:
  Installed: 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu2.2

I expect to go back to the login screen, NOT skipping the password. the
whole idea of a password is to protect the data...

p.s
I can't use lock screen because it aventualy freeze my desktop, the only
release is the reset button.

[Bug 383843] [NEW] Contradictions packages

2009-06-05 Thread Goldy
Public bug reported:

The system workes perfect as long as I don't install certain packages.
I have no idea what those packages are, since the problems occur only after
install or after reboot.

Right now on my computer, Ubuntu 8.10:
1) On swiching language all 3 green led turn on / off, regardless of actually
pressing num lock, caps lock or scroll lock.
2) On minimaize, the window 'escapes' to the right-bottom corner. he doesn't
appear at the board.
I can't remember what packages I installed that cause that, so I can't solve
the problem.

Examples for know problematic packages:
1) On installing MOUSEEMU: the mouse pointer will get stuck on pressing any
key no green led will light.
2) On installing setserial /or controls configuration of serial ports:
Ubuntu will suggest to delete the application boards the computer will work
very slowly.

I suggest to mark the packages that came with the release as original: BOLD

[Bug 383843] Re: Contradictions packages

2009-06-05 Thread Goldy
** Description changed:

The system workes perfect as long as I don't install certain packages.
I have no idea what those packages are, since the problems occur only after
install or after reboot.
+ I suggest to mark the packages that came with the release as original: BOLD
thier names on the list /or mark in unique color.
+ other packages will get numbers according to the order they were installed by
the user, so he'll know what to delete if they cause any problems (separate
list).
+ That way I won't have to remember what packages I recently install that cause
the problems, since they survive upgrade.

+ I don't want to take the chance since I don't want to cause bigger problems.

  1) On installing MOUSEEMU: the mouse pointer will get stuck on pressing
any key no green led will light.
  2) On installing setserial /or controls configuration of serial ports:
Ubuntu will suggest to delete the application boards the computer will work
very slowly.

[Bug 381696] [NEW] Canonical becomes Microsoft

2009-05-29 Thread Goldy
Public bug reported:

More then a year ago I knew that the operating system that will run on my new
computer will NOT be of Microsoft,
After reading in some Linux forums, I decided to try ubuntu 8.04 . it was
PERFECT - I installed it couldn't be happier: no errors of any kind, I saved
my work ONLY as I finish above all: installed the system only ONCE.

8.10 had a problem booting: can be solved with acpi=off.
9.04 was released with the .dep bug (prevent booting).
Now, the beta versions of 9.10 expect ME, a non (official) programmer, to fix
the mistakes! If I need to tell you “on bug send auto message to programmer”
then I don't need to tell you.
I want to USE my computer: boot + work. Whay is too complicated for you to do?
What changed since 8.04? did you insert microsoft (ex-)workers into the
Canonical company?

How is it possible that 8.04 was perfect, as time pass Canonical
becomes more more “Microsoft like”? Please tell me: when will I see
the Canonical version for the blue screen, kernel32 gray message and
above all: reinstalling the system over over again??

Don't tell me “beta”! you already RELEASED TWO bugged versions. Do you
really belive in: “pepole will use microsoft or won't use computers”?

[Bug 375352] Re: Karmic desktop CD fails to boot because of different squashfs versions

2009-05-20 Thread Goldy
You are so right! complaining about a bug that prevent boot is worng,
but complaining about bugs for poor graphic, mouse pointer, wirless
undetect etc. is very right... again: 9.05 was realese with bug that
prevent booting!

Don't worry; I won't bother your system developers anymore: have fun
explaining yourself how you benifit from loosing users.

[Bug 375352] Re: Karmic desktop CD fails to boot because of different squashfs versions

2009-05-19 Thread Goldy
Valid for 2009-05-19 as well.

Please solve it! don't you want me to upgrade?
How is it possible that booting the system is not a no. 1 praiority? Don't
you want users to AT-LEAST get a non-graphic interface? How do you expect the
bug Microsoft has a majority market share (no. one!) to be solved, if the
simplest user must be a programmer? (fix his own bugs)

8.04 was perfect. 8.10 can be solved with acpi=off or pci=nomsi. 9.04 was
RELEASED WITH the .dep BUG, now it seems you broke all previous records by
giving me the clue: go back to windows.
I thought ubuntu is for the people, now I feel like paying for red-hat.

[Bug 376553] Re: Useless computer

2009-05-15 Thread Goldy
Not a specific: after any upgrade; it's possible that the boot process will
fail: droping to the shell command line that it (typing exit will
necessarily cause kernal panic).
I want the possbility to fix the problem by being able to upgrade as soon as
the problem being solved (next release).

OR: to save burn + boot from USB, it's better to have a program that
will simulate the ISO file, as if the computer has been boot from.

Do one of the above. Thanks.

[Bug 376553] [NEW] Useless computer

2009-05-14 Thread Goldy
Public bug reported:

Asumming the upgrade failed: I can't boot no metter what - after a while
drop to the shell command line.

I want you to program a fail-safe command: insted of having a useless
computer (one unbootable operating system), I want to be able to fix it
by: sudo do-release-upgrade so I could boot again in the future, as
the problem solved in next release.

For many very annoing reasons, all I have is a cards-reader a hard-

[Bug 297282] [NEW] $RANDOM is empty in a script launched with sudo

2008-11-12 Thread Goldy
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I worked on a script who generate mac address randomly and I remark the
$RANDOM variable is empty when I launch the script with sudo.

For example :

#/bin/bash

#Test random

echo \$RANDOM Test
echo
echo \$RANDOM = $RANDOM
echo
echo
###

In terminal :

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/prog$ ./random
$RANDOM Test

$RANDOM = 5625

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/prog$ sudo ./random
$RANDOM Test

$RANDOM =

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/prog$ sudo -s

$RANDOM Test

$RANDOM = 25614

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/prog# exit
exit
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/prog$ sudo -s ./random
$RANDOM Test

$RANDOM = 31066
