I can confirm this on a geforce 6600 with the 180 series drivers in
jaunty. applications loaded on the second xserver screen show up on the
first - makes simple things like trying to use my tv-out to watch a

[Bug 63718] xchat spellcheck bad interperatation

2006-10-03 Thread Gord Allott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat

Bug in xchat 2.6.6-0 for dapper.
rather simple bug, typing words like "shouldn't" or "can't" break the spell
checkers parsing of the text input, it marks the words as misspelt though they
are spelled correctly.
it also offers the same word as a suggestion, lets take shouldn't for a case
study, if you type it you will get it marked as bad, it will offer "shouldn't"
as a correct spelling, clicking that will replace "shouldn't" with
"shouldn't't" and it will mark the "shouldn" part as bad again.

it seems obvious that the ' char is the cause of the problem but it might
happen with others as well that are less obvious.

[Bug 383228] [NEW] PIL fails when trying to parse a streaming png file

2009-06-03 Thread Gord Allott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-imaging

PIL 1.1.6-3ubuntu1 fails when operating on an png file from its parser() method
with
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/Image.py", line 961, in histogram
self.load()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 189, in load
s = read(self.decodermaxblock)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/PngImagePlugin.py", line 365, in
load_read
return self.fp.read(bytes)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 300, in read
data = self.data[pos:pos+bytes]
TypeError: 'NoneType' object is unsubscriptable

this python script will expose the bug:
#!/usr/bin/env python
import PIL.ImageFile
imgfile = open('foo.png')
p = PIL.ImageFile.Parser()

while 1:
data = imgfile.read(1024)
if not data:
break
p.feed(data)

img = p.close()
img.histogram() # simple operation on PIL.Image object, should work but fails
on png files

Attached is a patch that fixes this, a lack of any bug
tracker/development contact for python-imaging upstream necessitates it
being here. Bug exists on 9.04 definatly

[Bug 278356] Re: video not playing on youtube or any video site and my sound is working perfectly

2009-01-01 Thread Gord Allott
Confirmed the same behaviour here, 8.10, flash-nonfree, epiphany-gecko.
Works in firefox okay but half the video sites just plain don't load.
Might be a flash codec issue or something, iplayer low quality plays
fine for example but high quality won't load. no youtube video will
load.

[Bug 132163] Re: blender causes X to restart if 'Extra Effects' enabled

2007-08-28 Thread Gord Allott
running compiz (desktop effects) with 3d applications is knowen to be
buggy, lots of applications will work slower and some will just not run
at all. this will hopefully change in the future with certain xorg
developments but for now it is recomended to just disable desktop
effects before running 3d applications

[Bug 83833] Re: include Google in the "Look up" menu

I don't think this really counts as a bug as no where does it explicitly
state that pressing enter without selecting a smart bookmark will search
google automatically, its just a neat conveniance feature. also having
google as a smart bookmark allows you to put a dedicated google search
entry bar by draging the smart bookmark to the toolbar.

2007-08-28 Thread Gord Allott
I don't think this really counts as a bug as no where does it explicitly
state that pressing enter without selecting a smart bookmark will search
google automatically, its just a neat conveniance feature. also having
google as a smart bookmark allows you to put a dedicated google search
entry bar by draging the smart bookmark to the toolbar.

[Bug 58097] doublescan in dapper Xorg seems to be broken

2006-08-29 Thread gord allott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Using a RELISYS TE77 monitor and a rage 128 pro (fury maxx [r128 driver])
graphics card doublescan mode in xorg seems to be broken.
doublescan mode is supposed to scale up lower resolutions but double the size
of each pixel (such as 400x300 to 800x600) what seems to happen instead is that
the double resolution is setup fine but each pixel is only stretched on the x
axis, resulting in whatever application you are using having half the vertical
size it should.

tested with the same hardware with Ubuntu 5.04 and Ubuntu 5.10. both
generate the same modelines but work fine. This only happens with mode's
that use doublescan.

[Bug 383228] [NEW] PIL fails when trying to parse a streaming png file

2009-06-03 Thread Gord Allott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-imaging

PIL 1.1.6-3ubuntu1 fails when operating on an png file from its parser() method
with
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/Image.py", line 961, in histogram
self.load()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 189, in load
s = read(self.decodermaxblock)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/PngImagePlugin.py", line 365, in
load_read
return self.fp.read(bytes)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 300, in read
data = self.data[pos:pos+bytes]
TypeError: 'NoneType' object is unsubscriptable

this python script will expose the bug:
#!/usr/bin/env python
import PIL.ImageFile
imgfile = open('foo.png')
p = PIL.ImageFile.Parser()

while 1:
data = imgfile.read(1024)
if not data:
break
p.feed(data)

img = p.close()
img.histogram() # simple operation on PIL.Image object, should work but fails
on png files

Attached is a patch that fixes this, a lack of any bug
tracker/development contact for python-imaging upstream necessitates it
being here. Bug exists on 9.04 definatly

Attached xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log:

Attached xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log:

[Bug 63718] xchat spellcheck bad interperatation

2006-10-03 Thread Gord Allott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat

Bug in xchat 2.6.6-0 for dapper.
rather simple bug, typing words like "shouldn't" or "can't" break the spell
checkers parsing of the text input, it marks the words as misspelt though they
are spelled correctly.
it also offers the same word as a suggestion, lets take shouldn't for a case
study, if you type it you will get it marked as bad, it will offer "shouldn't"
as a correct spelling, clicking that will replace "shouldn't" with
"shouldn't't" and it will mark the "shouldn" part as bad again.

it seems obvious that the ' char is the cause of the problem but it might
happen with others as well that are less obvious.

[Bug 383228] [NEW] PIL fails when trying to parse a streaming png file

2009-06-03 Thread Gord Allott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-imaging

PIL 1.1.6-3ubuntu1 fails when operating on an png file from its parser() method
with
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/Image.py", line 961, in histogram

  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 189, in load

return self.fp.read(bytes)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 300, in read
data = self.data[pos:pos+bytes]
TypeError: 'NoneType' object is unsubscriptable

this python script will expose the bug:
#!/usr/bin/env python
import PIL.ImageFile
imgfile = open('foo.png')
p = PIL.ImageFile.Parser()

while 1:
data = imgfile.read(1024)
if not data:
break
p.feed(data)

img = p.close()
img.histogram() # simple operation on PIL.Image object, should work but fails
on png files

Attached is a patch that fixes this, a lack of any bug
tracker/development contact for python-imaging upstream necessitates it
being here. Bug exists on 9.04 definatly

Confirmed the same behaviour here, 8.10, flash-nonfree, epiphany-gecko.
Works in firefox okay but half the video sites just plain don't load.
Might be a flash codec issue or something, iplayer low quality plays
fine for example but high quality won't load. no youtube video will
load.

2007-08-28 Thread Gord Allott
I don't think this really counts as a bug as no where does it explicitly
state that pressing enter without selecting a smart bookmark will search
google automatically, its just a neat conveniance feature. also having
google as a smart bookmark allows you to put a dedicated google search
entry bar by draging the smart bookmark to the toolbar.

2009-01-01 Thread Gord Allott
Confirmed the same behaviour here, 8.10, flash-nonfree, epiphany-gecko.
Works in firefox okay but half the video sites just plain don't load.
Might be a flash codec issue or something, iplayer low quality plays
fine for example but high quality won't load. no youtube video will
load.

first - makes simple things like trying to use my tv-out to watch a

[Bug 383228] [NEW] PIL fails when trying to parse a streaming png file

2009-06-03 Thread Gord Allott
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-imaging

PIL 1.1.6-3ubuntu1 fails when operating on an png file from its parser() method
with
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/Image.py", line 961, in histogram
self.load()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 189, in load
s = read(self.decodermaxblock)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/PngImagePlugin.py", line 365, in
load_read
return self.fp.read(bytes)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 300, in read
data = self.data[pos:pos+bytes]
TypeError: 'NoneType' object is unsubscriptable

this python script will expose the bug:
#!/usr/bin/env python
import PIL.ImageFile
imgfile = open('foo.png')
p = PIL.ImageFile.Parser()

while 1:
data = imgfile.read(1024)
if not data:
break
p.feed(data)

img = p.close()
img.histogram() # simple operation on PIL.Image object, should work but fails
on png files

Attached is a patch that fixes this, a lack of any bug
tracker/development contact for python-imaging upstream necessitates it
being here. Bug exists on 9.04 definatly
