[Bug 1451564] Re: Single-click not working

2016-03-04 Thread Graeme Pietersz
For me it does not work in Kdevelop and, most irritating of all, the
file picker.

[Bug 1411180] Re: 1814:3290 [HP 240 G1 Notebook PC] WiFi does not show networks after updates

2015-01-28 Thread Graeme Pietersz
I have not tried any other kernels and I am not sure which I was running
before the problem occurred, but I have realised that the problem is
intermittent - it happens on boot and the only solution is to reboot. As
I have not had the laptop long (a month) so I cannot confirm that the
problem occurs only with particular kernels.

Reverting to kernel 3.16.0-23-generic does fix it. WIll experiment with
other kernels and see what does and does not work.

[Bug 1411180] [NEW] RTL8111/8168/8411 does not show networks after updates

2015-01-15 Thread Graeme Pietersz
Public bug reported:

After applying updates today my network card is still detected, but no
networks are listed.

dmesg output ends in

[ 542.297959] ieee80211 phy0: rt2800_wait_wpdma_ready: Error - WPDMA TX/RX
busy [0x0068]
[ 543.900163] ieee80211 phy0: rt2800_wait_wpdma_ready: Error - WPDMA TX/RX
busy [0x0068]
[ 543.900172] ieee80211 phy0: rt2800pci_set_device_state: Error - Device

reverting to kernel 3.16.0-28-generic did not make any difference.

[Bug 1305586] Re: Lock screen is unusable when some windows have a keyboard/mouse grab

2014-05-18 Thread Graeme Pietersz
I appear to have the same problem when playing Battle for Wesnoth in
full screen mode. Its fairly clear that the Battle for Wesnoth window
has grabbed the mouse because some clicks produce game sounds.

The mouse pointer cannot be moved to the top of the screen, so I cannot
interact with switch user or anything else in that bar.

Evan, my disconnet time is much shorter.

I now have an issue that may or may not be related to the kernel
upgrade: unity-panel-services takes 100% of a CPU after running for a
few minutes.

** Description changed:

Since I upgraded to Saucy my RT3290 wifi disconnects after a while and,
cannot reconnect. Networks are visible but connecting fails.

Rebooting fixes it for a few minutes, then it disconnects again.

[Bug 1245819] Re: RT3290 driver keeps disconnecting.

2013-10-30 Thread Graeme Pietersz
Seems to work with 3.12 kernel, although I have not yet had it running
very long. There have been no unexpected disconnects, and it reconnects
after suspend (which previously required removing and reloading the
module).

2013-06-10 Thread Graeme Pietersz

the box.

It still does not have bluetooth support.

[Bug 863834] Re: [regression] Suspend on lid close broken on Oneiric

2012-12-09 Thread Graeme Pietersz
Also affects Perfect as of a recent (not sure exactly when) update.

Not the sort of behaviour that should change without a version change
IMO. This could lead to some laptops overheating/catching fire etc. so
not a good idea at all.

[Bug 1031225] [NEW] compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in dee_model_get_tag()

2012-07-31 Thread Graeme Pietersz
Public bug reported:

This appears to be a regression similar to #840758

Details in apport appear very similar, but it refuses to upload bug for
precise. The crash is intermittent. The usual trigger is calling up the

[Bug 162654] Re: ipw2200 needs to be reloaded after suspend

2009-04-06 Thread Graeme Pietersz
I have the same problem with iwl3945, but worse as it hangs altogether
on resume.

I did not notice it earlier because I do not often user wireless, and
have the kill switch on (in which case there is no problem).

Unloading on suspend appears to fix this, but I have not yet tested it
while actually connected to a network so I do not know if that would
still cause a problem.

[Bug 129725] Re: hibernate makes ps/2 to usb keyboard connection fail

2009-03-10 Thread Graeme Pietersz
Still happening in Intrepid.

There is another bug I saw recently about a keyboard that did not work
if plugged in after boot. Unfortunately I cannot find it, but I think it
is the same problem. It has something to do with the current available
to USB devices on plugging in.

In my case the keyboard stops working after suspend to RAM (have not
tried hibernate yet), and does not work if plugged in after booting -
which is why I think it is one problem.

[Bug 278288] Re: Failure mounting encrypted partition when fsck ran

2009-03-03 Thread Graeme Pietersz
This also happens in (Intrepid derived) Linux Mint Felicia. I was going
to report it there but having discovered its an upstream bug I think it
more appropriate to add the info here.

If it shuts down uncleanly (which it did thanks to the screen saver
freeze bug), the root partition is correctly checked an cleaned, but I
then get an error message that the filesystem on /dev/sda6 (the /home
partition) is not recognised. Skipping the check got me to a boot screen
with /dev/sda6 not mounted. Rebooting got the check run on it - I think,
but it only happened once.

The same thing happend when the regular boot time check happened. Skip
and reboot got it back to normal.

[Bug 64487] Re: Usplash in edgy results in out of range error

2007-04-21 Thread Graeme Pietersz
Same problem with Edgy and SiS video. The LCD complains of a 86.6Hz
vertical refresh (its limit is 75).

Dapper used to use too low a resolution and it looked a little ugly.
This is much worse.

I tried work around this by not using usplash, but an update overwrote
Grub's menu.lst and turned it on again.
