2024-09-25 Thread Graham Inggs
This bug was fixed in the package mandos - 1.8.17-1
Sponsored for Mandos Maintainers (mandos-maintainers)

---
mandos (1.8.17-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release.
  * debian/control (Package: mandos/Depends): Fix "mandos: Depends on
transition package gnupg2" by removing "gnupg2 |".  (Closes: #1055402)
  * debian/control (Source: mandos/Build-Depends): Fix "Please switch
Build-Depends to systemd-dev" by preferring systemd-dev to older
systemd (Closes: #1060546)
  * Fix "reportbug: mandos-client does not include gpg-agent in initramfs"
by first trying the new library name, libgpgme11t64 (Closes: #1077927)
  * Fix "mandos-client postrm purge can mysteriously fail" by making sure
that the maintainer scripts do not output anything to standard output
(Closes: #1079588)
  * debian/mandos-client.postinst (update_initramfs): Add "1>&2" to
invocations of update-initramfs and /etc/kernel/postinst.d/dracut.
(add_mandos_user): Add "1>&2" to invocations of usermod, groupmod, and
adduser.
(create_keys): Add "1>&2" to invocations of mandos-keygen,
gpg-connect-agent, certtool, and openssl.
(create_dh_params): Add "1>&2" to invocations of certtool and openssl.
Add "--force" option to "rm".
  * debian/mandos-client.postrm (update_initramfs): Add "1>&2" to
invocations of update-initramfs and /etc/kernel/postinst.d/dracut.
  * Fix "mandos lost mandos.service systemd unit" by getting the correct
directory names from pkg-config (Closes: #1069689)
  * debian/mandos-client.dirs (usr/lib/sysusers.d): Removed.
  * debian/mandos.dirs (lib/systemd/system, usr/lib/tmpfiles.d,
usr/lib/sysusers.d): Removed.
  * debian/rules (PKG_CONFIG): New; copied from Makefile.
  * (override_dh_installdirs-indep): New; run dh_installdirs twice:  first
normally, and again for the systemd unit file directory and the
directories for the "tmpfilesdir" and "sysusersdir" variables from
pkg-config.
(override_dh_installdirs-arch): New; create directory for the
"sysusersdir" variable from pkg-config.
  * debian/mandos.dirs: Change D-Bus policy directory
"/etc/dbus-1/session.d" to "/usr/share/dbus-1/session.d".
  * debian/mandos.maintscript: New; remove the old D-Bus policy file.
  * debian/mandos-client.README.Debian: Fix spelling.
  * debian/mandos-client.README.Debian: Remove unnecessary word "simply".
Also add instructions on how to add the --connect= options to
mandos-client when using dracut.
  * debian/mandos-client.postrm: Also shred(1) tls-privkkey.pem, just like
with seckey.txt.
  * debian/mandos-client.postinst (update_initramfs): When using dracut,
but the initramfs image file does not yet exist (due to the kernel
package not having been configured), create a new empty file with the
correct permissions, so that dracut will use the correct permissions
when creating the initramfs image file.
  * debian/control (Package: mandos/Depends): Add "libgnutls30t64" as an
alternative to libgnutls30.
  * debian/mandos-client.lintian-overrides: Change to new lintian "pointed
hints" syntax.

[Bug 2077420] Re: [FFe] R Bioconductor 3.19 transition

2024-09-09 Thread Graham Inggs
Removal of the last 32-bit binary packages happened in Debian on 2024-09-08.
A big chunk of the packages have already migrated to testing.
A couple of autopkgtest regressions can be seen now, which hopefully will be
resolved soon.

Barring any objections, I'll go ahead with this towards the end of the
week.

[Bug 2078275] Re: Please remove pmix on 32-bit architectures

2024-09-07 Thread Graham Inggs
The reverse-dependency from slurm-wlm-basic-plugins on armhf is gone
now.

$ reverse-depends src:pmix
Reverse-Depends
===
* libopenmpi-dev(for libpmix-dev)
* libopenmpi3t64 [amd64](for libpmix2)
* libopenmpi3t64 [arm64 armhf i386 ppc64el riscv64 s390x]
* slurm-wlm-basic-plugins [amd64 arm64 ppc64el riscv64 s390x]

Presumably, libopenmpi3t64 being shown twice is due to the different
versions in oracular and aracular-proposed.

$ rmadison libopenmpi3t64
 libopenmpi3t64 | 4.1.6-7ubuntu2| noble/universe | amd64,
arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x
 libopenmpi3t64 | 4.1.6-7ubuntu2| oracular/universe  | amd64,
arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x
 libopenmpi3t64 | 4.1.6-13.3ubuntu2 | oracular-proposed/universe | amd64,

[Bug 2078275] Re: Please remove pmix on 32-bit architectures

2024-09-06 Thread Graham Inggs
This also blocks migration of openmpi 4.1.6-13.3ubuntu2.

$ reverse-depends src:pmix
Reverse-Depends
===
* libopenmpi-dev(for libpmix-dev)
* libopenmpi3t64 [amd64](for libpmix2)
* libopenmpi3t64 [arm64 armhf i386 ppc64el riscv64 s390x]
* slurm-wlm-basic-plugins [amd64 arm64 armhf ppc64el riscv64 s390x]

pmix still has dependencies on armhf, let's see if these are resolved by
recent migrations.

[Bug 2072750] Re: hwloc 2.11.0-2 stuck in proposed as it requires libnvidia-compute-550 (>= 550.90.07)

2024-09-05 Thread Graham Inggs
hwloc-contrib should work with any version of the Nvidia drivers, and
should not have a versioned-dependency on the version it was built
against.

nvidia-graphics-drivers-NNN packages used to ship debian/libnvidia-
compute-NNN.shlibs to allow this, so that libhwloc-contrib-plugins would
have a dependency on the virtual package libnvidia-ml1, instead of
libnvidia-compute-550 (>= 550.90.07), as above.

In an attempt to work around this, I uploaded:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hwloc-contrib/2.11.0-1ubuntu1

However, this upload was not installable on arm64, because there is
currently no Nvidia driver for arm64 that Provides: libnvidia-ml1

[Bug 2078244] Re: ceph: Does not respect compiler flags for Python extensions

2024-09-03 Thread Graham Inggs
However, the change in that commit from:

set(cflags ${COMPILE_OPTIONS})

to:

set(PY_CFLAGS ${COMPILE_OPTIONS})

Doesn't seem a likely cause of the error.

Looking at the build of 16.2.9-0ubuntu0.21.10.1 in Impish:

[ 93%] Generating
../../../lib/cython_modules/lib.3/cephfs.cpython-39-x86_64-linux-gnu.so
cd /<>/src/pybind/cephfs && env CC="/usr/bin/cc

-D'__Pyx_check_single_interpreter(ARG)=ARG ## 0'" CXX="/usr/bin/c++"
LDSHARED="/usr/bin/cc -shared" OPT="-DNDEBUG -g -fwrapv -O2 -w"
LDFLAGS=-L/<>/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/lib
CYTHON_BUILD_DIR=/<>/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/src/pybind/cephfs

/<>/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/lib/cython_modules --build-platlib
/<>/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/lib/cython_modules/lib.3

We can see the hardening flags are already missing, even though it still
has the older Distutils.cmake.

[Bug 2078244] Re: ceph: Does not respect compiler flags for Python extensions

2024-09-02 Thread Graham Inggs
Evidently, COMPILE_OPTIONS does not get generated by cmake. ;-)

In one of my my attempts, I tried changing:

set(PY_CFLAGS ${COMPILE_OPTIONS})

to:

set(PY_CFLAGS ${CMAKE_C_FLAGS})

but every flag ended up with a trailing \ and gcc choked, and my cmake-
fu is not strong.

For *our* builds, nothing gets appended to PY_CFLAGS, so dropping
CFLAGS="${PY_CFLAGS}" does not miss anything. However, I agree this is
not upstreamable.

I will try to take a another look at this.

[Bug 2077420] Re: [FFe] R Bioconductor 3.19 transition

2024-08-30 Thread Graham Inggs
Debian are still waiting on removal of 11 or so 32-bit binary packages.
This is obscuring the autopkgtest results. I prefer to wait a bit
longer before starting this, in case some packages need new uploads to
fix autopkgtests, so we don't need to sync the same packages multiple
times.

I am currently looking at this, and hopefully can provide a patch soon.

I'd like your opinion on whether this would be worthwhile.

[Bug 2078244] [NEW] ceph: Does not respect compiler flags for Python extensions

2024-08-28 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
The packaging does not respect compiler flags when building the Python
extensions, notably hardening flags like the stack protector, as well as
frame-pointer.

[Test plan]
Look at the build log and see that the build flags have been passed, notably
stuff like

-fno-strict-overflow -Wsign-compare -DNDEBUG -g -O2 -Wall -g -O2
-Werror=implicit-function-declaration -fno-omit-frame-pointer
-mno-omit-leaf-frame-pointer -ffile-prefix-map=/<>=.
-fstack-protector-strong -fstack-clash-protection -Wformat -Werror=for
mat-security -fcf-protection

It can be seen that this is already the case for the shared libraries,
it is only the Python extensions that are missing flags.

[Where problems could occur]
Hardening flags could surface existing (possibly security) bugs that have been
asymptomatic so far; frame-pointers will incur some slow down.
