[Bug 990862] Re: opengl ceased to work properly since upgrade to 12.04
I've just updated the kernel and installed NVidia's proprietary drivers (post-release update) made available through the additional drivers app, and it appears that OpenGL is once again working as expected. I don't know exactly what did it, as I've already tried the post-release update drivers before and that didn't panned out, but I'm glad everything is back to normal. [Bug 990862] [NEW] opengl ceased to work properly since upgrade to 12.04
Public bug reported: I've just upgraded to Kubuntu 12.04 and I've noticed that an opengl application I'm developing failed to work. Among the problems, rendering has since become terribly slow, even with nvidia proprietary drivers, and the opengl rendering screen sometimes turns black. As a test, I've turned on KDE's desktop effects. Once I did that and restarted KDE, the desktop became excruciatingly slow and the desktop's background became black. This leads me to suspect that something with opengl isn't working since the upgrade, and this is a bit of a showstopper. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/990862 Title: opengl ceased to work properly since upgrade to 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/990862/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 879173] [NEW] Wifi connection dies with CPU high load
Public bug reported: I've noticed that, when I run some application which is CPU-intensive such as compiling and doing some number crunching, the wifi connection just dies out and stays dead as long as the CPU load is high. Once the CPU load dies down, the network manager suddenly is able to re-establish the connection. This happens both when a single CPU core is taxed or when I run multiple demanding processes. [Bug 678139] Re: Let users disable wireless network interfaces
I see what you mean but I really don't believe that this is really a bug. You have network manager automaticallyl ignoring the user's wishes and forcing him to use a network connection which he wishes to avoid. I don't know if this is the case but if network manager suddenly opted to connect through a mobile network connection then that could lead network manager to force the user to incur in needless spending. [Bug 678139] [NEW] Let users disable wireless network interfaces
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plasma-widget-networkmanagement If a user happens to have multiple wireless network interfaces connected to the same system (i.e., has a wifi PCI card and connects a USB wifi dongle or a mobile broadband dongle), the network manager application automatically selects the best connection which is available in this system. Yet, it is impossible to turn off a specific network interface or even select which interface should be the one performing the connection. That means that users who may wish to disable a particular network interface to avoid connecting through them or even if they simply wish to test the connection through a particular user interface, they will have network manager forcing some other network connection on them, actively undermining the user's actions. That turns a simple user task into a hugely frustrating event. It would be great if network manager enabled the user to manually select which network interface to use and which to avoid, no matter what's the best network connection available at that particular instance. Public bug reported: Ubuntu's current SuperLU package lists as being: Version: 3.0+20070106-3 That means that it's a version which is almost 4 years old. [Bug 655091] [NEW] kmail spell checking doesn't provide visual cues to spelling errors
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdepim Kmail, when composing an email, does not provide any visual cue informing the user of a spelling error, although the spell checker appears to work correctly (i.e., when running it manually it stops on spelling errors and presents valid alternatives). [Bug 603936] Re: Firefox crashes when opening some websites (namely sapo.pt)
I don't believe that it is a good idea to mark this bug as invalid. [Bug 14335] Re: nautilus wants to execute all text files on vfat and ntfs drives
I don't believe this problem is a Nautilus bug. The exec permissions are the same to Nautilus as they are to other file managers such as KDE's Dolphin. Moreover, this very same problem also affects any shell. So, to put it in other words, the problem behind this is the poor choice for the default traditional UNIX permissions that are attributed to FAT (and maybe other) file systems which don't support traditional UNIX permissions. [Bug 483257] [NEW] Adding bookmarks through the keyboard shortcut doesn't add visual markers to the progress bar
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: amarok I've added a keyboard shortcut for the Bookmark this location command and when I repeatedly tested that shortcut no visual marker (the little green flags) was added to the track progress bar. Yet, when I clicked on the edit bookmarks button (the little yellow star) I was presented with a long list of newly added entries, all labelled default layout. [Bug 163502] Re: ubuntu 7.01 installation stops at 94%: fatal grub error
I'm experiencing this bug. While attempting to install Ubuntu 8.04, the install process halts at 94% and returns a fatal error. [Bug 211066] Re: [2.6.24-14] Cannot upgrade linux-restricted-modules-generic
Regarding the new duplicate bug report, I would like to mention that in my case the problem occurred when I was already running 8.04 Beta out of a fresh, clean, CD-ROM install and not from an upgrade from 7.10. [Bug 211089] [NEW] kernel update left Ubuntu without restricted drivers
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 211066 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211066 Public bug reported: I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 beta and my system sports an NVidia card and an atheros wireless card. After receiving a notice that there was a linux kernel update available in the repositories and running that update, after rebooting the system I was left without any restricted drivers installed. That meant that I didn't had any graphics driver and no internet access. To make matters worse, the Hardware Drivers application stated that there wasn't any hardware present that needed drivers. So in the end that little kernel update forced me to perform a complete reinstall. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kernel update left Ubuntu without restricted drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211089 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've performed a system upgrade through Ubuntu's update manager and I was also left without any restricted drivers. [Bug 157094] Re: USB mass storage devices are mounted with unsafe permissions
This issue keeps on getting stranger, now that I noticed that ubuntu, through GNOME (which is known for it's very restricted configurability), offers the ability to not only setup the removable drive permissions but also all mount options, all that through a GUI application.
