[Bug 510212] Re: update-manager: no branding. Is it legit?

2010-11-26 Thread Greg Bair
One problem I see of using an Ubuntu-branded icon instead of the usual
brown box is that it uses the "update-manager" icon in the gtk icon
cache. So, depending on what icon theme a user uses (eg, the Ubuntu
default or Faenza or whatever), the image on the main window will
change. The only way to avoid that would be to hard-code an image,
which is usually not a good idea, uniformity-wise.

[Bug 661592] [NEW] xchat-gnome auto-joins channels before identifying with nickserv

2010-10-15 Thread Greg Bair
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

When starting xchat-gnome, if the user has a nickserv password saved,
the program autojoins channels before identifying the username.

Example:

-NickServ- This nickname is registered. Please choose a different nickname, or
identify via /msg NickServ identify .
 Found your IP: [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]
 Unknown MODE flag
#python :Cannot join channel (+r) - you need to be identified with services
-NickServ- You are now identified for pionar.

It should message nickserv before trying to join channels.

[Bug 571556] Re: package gedit 2.30.0git20100413-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade:

2010-05-19 Thread Greg Bair
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug had an incorrect package associated with it,
which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in update-manager.

(With many applications, you can report a future bug directly on the
appropriate package by opening the application's "Help" menu and
choosing "Report a Problem". https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs)

[Bug 555061] Re: gedit highlight error

2010-05-19 Thread Greg Bair
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 580308] Re: upgrade to lucid

2010-05-19 Thread Greg Bair
It seems to me that the error message barre87 got has nothing to do with
the upgrade not proceeding. I think it has to do with this line in the
main log:

2010-05-13 11:18:13,787 ERROR IOError/SystemError in cache.update(): 'Il server
potrebbe essere sovraccarico'. Retrying (currentRetry: 0)
2010-05-13 11:18:13,787 ERROR doUpdate() failed completely

Which, thanks to Google Translate, means that the server is overloaded.

Download failed on every repo that apt tried to update.

That's why the upgrade didn't go through.
