[Bug 663497] Re: Transmitter (irsend) broken in 10.10
I can report the same experience as Markus. After upgrade from Lucid to Maverick, irsend no longer worked. Once I installed lirc-modules-source, irsend was functional again. -- Transmitter (irsend) broken in 10.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/663497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 583492] Re: kvm virtual guest freezes daily with bacula-sd blocked for more than 120 seconds
With the latest Lucid kernel update (2.6.32-24) running now for 4 days, I have not had any issues. My incremental backups take place daily at 05:30 GMT-5, so I have now had 4 successful backups run with no errors. [Bug 344093] Re: SATA DVD drive not detected in Jaunty (testing)
No, I don't believe there is an upstream bug log, but I can do one better. I just read Linus' release note for 2.6.35-rc2 and I came across this: ... Tejun Heo (5): sata_via: magic vt6421 fix for transmission problems w/ WD drives sata_nv: don't diddle with nIEN on mcp55 SCSI: implement sd_unlock_native_capacity() libata: use the enlarged capacity after late HPA unlock libata: implement on-demand HPA unlocking ... That second line is the patch I mentioned in comment #26, so it looks like this fix will be part of 2.6.35 and a recent announcement stated that that will be Maverick's kernel version. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/Specs/KernelMaverickVersion -- SATA DVD drive not detected in Jaunty (testing) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344093 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 344093] Re: SATA DVD drive not detected in Jaunty (testing)
Tejun over on the LKML has created a patch that solved the issue for me. I recommend anyone having this problem try the patch and report directly to the kernel list on whether or not it fixed the issue. Hopefully the change will be put into the upstream code and this bug can be closed. [Bug 583492] Re: kvm virtual guest freezes daily with bacula-sd blocked for more than 120 seconds
I was wrong about my workaround. Having more memory just delayed the problem (memory leak?) or maybe it just changed the scenario. I'm not sure, but after 2 days of running fine, things went sour again. I'm attaching a full syslog showing the memory situation and the blocked tasks. The problems start at May 23 05:21:53 in the log. bacula is set to run backups every morning at 05:15. ** Attachment added: complete syslog http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48975073/oracle.syslog -- kvm virtual guest freezes daily with bacula-sd blocked for more than 120 seconds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 583492] Re: kvm virtual guest freezes daily with bacula-sd blocked for more than 120 seconds
I tried changing the number of virtual cpus and that did not help. However, when I increased the memory of the guest from 1G to 2G, the problem went away. However, I would still consider this a regression since I have been running this guest since Jaunty at 1G with no problems and no changes (software or virtual/physical hardware) other than Ubuntu version upgrades. -- kvm virtual guest freezes daily with bacula-sd blocked for more than 120 seconds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also, in the syslog information I see several mentions of NFS, so I believe I should also point out that bacula is writing to an NFS mounted fileserver. The database for bacula is local. [Bug 276476] Re: INFO: task blocked for more than 120 seconds causes system freeze
I have a machine running two guests under kvm, the first guest was upgraded to lucid just after release and has never shown an issue. However, just recently I upgraded the other guest and the host to lucid and now the recently upgraded guest locks up completely with a similar log to the ones above on a daily basis. Update from the kernel mailing list: there is a patch now that gets the drive working (swncq-polling-pio.patch from the list archive link above). I have built 2.6.31-19 using the latest Ubuntu 9.10 sources as of 02/21/2010 with all three patches from the kernel thread and I can report the same experience.
