[Bug 1960716] [NEW] rtl8821ce driver throws kernel warning about every 1500 seconds
Public bug reported: I'm running KDE Neon User Edition, fully updated. The rtl8821ce dkmn from the repository would not make a reliable connection so I used https://github.com/tomaspinho/rtl8821ce to install it. Installing the 5.13.0-1029-oem kernel made the difference, making the connection strong and reliable. However, the logs are filling up with the following warning. 3177.640087] [ cut here ] [ 3177.640092] WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 710 at /var/lib/dkms/rtl8821ce/v5.5.2_34066.20200325/build/hal/hal_com.c:11447 rtw_lps_state_chk+0x39/0x41 [8821ce] [ 3177.640250] Modules linked in: rfcomm xt_CHECKSUM xt_MASQUERADE xt_conntrack ipt_REJECT nf_reject_ipv4 xt_tcpudp ip6table_mangle ip6table_nat iptable_mangle iptable_nat nf_nat nf_conntrack nf_defrag_ipv6 nf_defrag_ipv4 nf_tables nfnetlink ip6table_filter ip6_tables iptable_filter bpfilter bridge stp llc cmac algif_hash algif_skcipher af_alg snd_ctl_led bnep snd_soc_skl_hda_dsp snd_soc_intel_hda_dsp_common snd_soc_hdac_hdmi snd_hda_codec_hdmi snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic snd_soc_dmic snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl snd_sof_intel_hda_common soundwire_intel soundwire_generic_allocation soundwire_cadence snd_sof_intel_hda snd_sof_pci snd_sof_xtensa_dsp snd_sof snd_soc_hdac_hda snd_hda_ext_core snd_soc_acpi_intel_match snd_soc_acpi soundwire_bus ledtrig_audio snd_soc_core snd_compress ac97_bus snd_pcm_dmaengine snd_hda_intel intel_tcc_cooling snd_intel_dspcfg snd_intel_sdw_acpi x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp snd_hda_codec snd_hda_core snd_hwdep kvm_intel snd_pcm joydev [ 3177.640317] nls_iso8859_1 snd_seq_midi kvm intel_rapl_msr mei_hdcp snd_seq_midi_event snd_rawmidi 8821ce(OE) snd_seq intel_cstate uvcvideo btusb videobuf2_vmalloc snd_seq_device btrtl videobuf2_memops videobuf2_v4l2 processor_thermal_device_pci_legacy btbcm hp_wmi btintel videobuf2_common platform_profile processor_thermal_device snd_timer input_leds processor_thermal_rfim sparse_keymap bluetooth serio_raw wmi_bmof snd videodev efi_pstore processor_thermal_mbox processor_thermal_rapl ecdh_generic mei_me intel_rapl_common intel_pmt_telemetry mc hid_multitouch ee1004 soundcore ecc mei intel_pmt_class cfg80211 intel_soc_dts_iosf int3403_thermal int340x_thermal_zone acpi_pad int3400_thermal acpi_thermal_rel hp_wireless mac_hid sch_fq_codel coretemp msr parport_pc ppdev lp parport ip_tables x_tables autofs4 hid_logitech_hidpp btrfs blake2b_generic xor zstd_compress hid_logitech_dj raid6_pq libcrc32c usbhid hid_generic nvme ahci i915 nvme_core libahci crct10dif_pclmul i2c_algo_bit [ 3177.640405] crc32_pclmul drm_kms_helper ghash_clmulni_intel syscopyarea sysfillrect aesni_intel sysimgblt fb_sys_fops cec rc_core crypto_simd cryptd drm intel_lpss_pci intel_lpss idma64 i2c_i801 intel_pmt xhci_pci i2c_smbus vmd xhci_pci_renesas wmi i2c_hid_acpi i2c_hid hid video pinctrl_tigerlake [ 3177.640444] CPU: 3 PID: 710 Comm: RTW_CMD_THREAD Tainted: GW OE 5.13.0-1029-oem #36-Ubuntu [ 3177.640449] Hardware name: HP HP Laptop 17-cn1xxx/89B7, BIOS F.11 08/03/2021 [ 3177.640451] RIP: 0010:rtw_lps_state_chk+0x39/0x41 [8821ce] [ 3177.640591] Code: 54 53 49 89 fc bb 0b 00 00 00 be 04 06 00 00 4c 89 e7 e8 aa 4f f9 ff 84 c0 79 11 bf 01 00 00 00 e8 8f 71 fd ff 80 eb 01 75 e0 <0f> 0b 5b 41 5c 5d c3 c3 0f 1f 44 00 00 55 48 89 e5 41 54 53 48 83 [ 3177.640595] RSP: 0018:ba0ac0bd7c20 EFLAGS: 00010246 [ 3177.640598] RAX: RBX: RCX: [ 3177.640612] RDX: 911edf9a7140 RSI: 5554 RDI: ba0ac0bd7b58 [ 3177.640613] RBP: ba0ac0bd7c30 R08: 0001 R09: 0001 [ 3177.640613] R10: R11: R12: ba0ac0b21000 [ 3177.640614] R13: ba0ac0bd7cfc R14: ba0ac0c11000 R15: ba0ac0c11000 [ 3177.640614] FS: () GS:911edf98() knlGS: [ 3177.640615] CS: 0010 DS: ES: CR0: 80050033 [ 3177.640616] CR2: 7f5ac16f2000 CR3: 0001c6c64006 CR4: 00770ee0 [ 3177.640616] PKRU: 5554 [ 3177.640617] Call Trace: [ 3177.640618] [ 3177.640620] SetHwReg+0x188/0x738 [8821ce] [ 3177.640658] rtl8821c_sethwreg+0xcfd/0xd50 [8821ce] [ 3177.640695] sethwreg+0x2a/0x14f [8821ce] [ 3177.640738] rtw_hal_set_hwreg+0x19/0x1b [8821ce] [ 3177.640788] rtw_set_ps_mode+0xd9/0x1e7 [8821ce] [ 3177.640825] LPS_Leave+0xd0/0xef [8821ce] [ 3177.640862] traffic_status_watchdog+0x1d8/0x2d1 [8821ce] [ 3177.640883] ? _rtw_mi_dynamic_check_timer_handlder+0x15/0x15 [8821ce] [ 3177.640918] rtw_iface_dynamic_chk_wk_hdl+0x5a/0x1a9 [8821ce] [ 3177.640941] ? _rtw_mi_dynamic_check_timer_handlder+0x15/0x15 [8821ce] [ 3177.640986] _rtw_mi_dynamic_chk_wk_hdl+0xe/0x15 [8821ce] [ 3177.641016] _rtw_mi_process+0x65/0x7c [8821ce] [ 3177.641044] rtw_mi_dynamic_chk_wk_hdl+0x1f/0x21 [8821ce] [ 3177.641073] rtw_dynamic_chk_wk_hdl+0x12/0x4a [8821ce] [ 3177.641088]
[Bug 1684240] Re: Lagging square around mouse pointer
I began having this problem last fall after an update to Nvida from 378 to 384, IIRC. A couple of weeks ago I installed Kubuntu 18.04 with the Nvidia 390 driver and did NOT have this problem. I switched back to Neon for personal preference reasons. A workaround that I've been using is to open a console on the login screen (which shows the mouse pointer defect) using Ctl+Alt+F2 and in that console enter: sudo systemctl restart sddm The causes the login screen to reappear and the mouse defect is gone. I continue the log in and the Plasma 5.12.5 desktop appears and behaves normally. Of course logging into the desktop, logging out and logging back in also works but is too slow. The next time I boot up and the mouse artifact appears on the login screen I open the console and use the up arrow to locate the command and hit the Enter key on it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1684240 Title: Lagging square around mouse pointer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-375/+bug/1684240/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 959151] Re: QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
I am running Kubuntu 16.04 with the latest patches and Plasma 5.6. A few days ago I installed KGpg and created a key. It ran perfectly. Then an update came down the pipe. Now, I cannot start KGpg from my user menu or from a user Konsole. The attempt aborts with the message "QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. ... " Systemctl shows I have two dbus services running: dbus.serviceloaded active running D-Bus System Message Bus dbus.socket loaded active running D-Bus System Message Bus Socket However, if in a Konsole I enter "kdesudo kgpg" it will start up and run as root. Obviously this message is NOT a "harmless" and more than a mere nuisance if it prevents programs from being run. A LOT of these "nuisances" have popped up on Kubuntu and other distros using both Plasma 4 and 5 for over FOUR YEARS, and its not doing KDE's reputation any service. KDE Neon is being built with QtQuick and QML and the bug has appeared on it as well, as evidenced by previous posts. That suggests that the bug is in QDBusConnection itself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/959151 Title: QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. [Bug 887933] Re: KDE taskbar (the bottom panel) doesn't respond occasionally
Since I made my post above I have switched from Kubuntu 12.04.3 with KDE 4.11.2, which had the problem, to KWheezy 1.3 with KDE 4.8.4, to use a distro based directly off of Debian. Kwheezy, too, exhibits this problem. The INT trick works on it as well. KWheezy 1.3 uses the 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.51-1 x86_64 GNU/Linux kernel. Neither stopping the apper daemon or removing NetworkManager from the system tray resolved the problem. The problem is only a pain when I want to switch from one app to another, but Ctrl-Esc - INT makes it less painful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887933 Title: KDE taskbar (the bottom panel) doesn't respond occasionally To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/887933/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 947697] Re: Atheros AR9285 Wireless on Ubuntu 12.04 is slow, unstable and has a weak signal.
I've been having this problem with my AR9462 wifi chip for several months. It randomly disconnects, with the uptime varying between a minute and 10 minutes. The speed often drops to 1Mb/s and remains there, rendering the connection worthless. I've tried a variety of kernels from 3.2 to 3.8. [Bug 887933] Re: KDE taskbar (the bottom panel) doesn't respond occasionally
My panel becomes unresponsive several times an hour and this problem has been with me for several months. Any app that I have open and focused on continues to work fine. Apps that are open but not the focus can be swithed to using Alt-Tab. If I close the app that has focus the image in the taskbar stays. The panel can become responsive again in a minute or two, but sometimes it stays unresponsive. The keyboard is always responsive. If I use Ctrl+Esc and open ksysmonitor I can rightclick on the Plasma-desktop line and send it the signal INT. That ALWAYS reactivates the panel and desktop. Since I first noticed the problem in late July or August, the plasma desktop has crashed on my only once. Sending the INT always gets the panel going again. No log shows any indication of any problem with these panel freezes and thaws. [Bug 1040943] Re: Wireless -very- frequent disconnects in LinuxMint13 - Atheros AR9462
I have been running Kubuntu 12.04 since its release and this problem has plauged my installation on my Acer Aspire V3-771G laptop. It does not appear to be load related. I am running the 3.8.0-27-generic kernel. I have tried the 3.2 and 3.5 kernels. The problem affects my wireless chip, AR9462, AND it also affects my ethernet chip, AR8151. The disconnect/reconnect is random. Sometimes the reconnect is almost instantly, sometimes almost a minute can go by. I have tried WICD but the problem persisted, so I went back to the plasma-network-manager. I have played with settings of the ath9k PARMS vars. No joy. The atl1c module has no PARMS to set. The Win7 side runs both wireless and cable just fine. Oh, if I use suspend then the network-manager doesn't re-enable. I have to change the managed=false to managed=true in the ifupdown section of /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkMagager.conf to re-enable the plasma- network-manager's ability to join and manage networks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1040943 Title: Wireless -very- frequent disconnects in LinuxMint13 - Atheros AR9462 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1040943/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 952521] Re: Screen blanking and dpms can't be turned off
Jonathan, my blanking problem started immediately after xsettings-kde (0.12.3-0ubuntu2) was upgraded (0.12.3-0ubuntu2.1) last Friday. My 64bit precise installation display screen has been working perfectly since I installed Precise after the Alpha release.Xsettings-kde was the only upgrade on last Friday which was related to the xserver. All the others were related to the cups package. Another thing I have tried is to set the powersave parameter of the i915 kernel module: options i915 powersave=0 and that appeared to work for a while. I set it at around 2pm Saturday and after a reboot the screen did not blank for the rest of the day, till shutdown around 11pm.However, I booted up about 8pm tonight (Sunday) and about 10pm the blanking resumed. To keep the blanking off I have to open a Konsole and issue xset dpms 0 0 0 followed by xset -dpms and keep the Konsole open but minimized to keep out of my way. [Bug 902557] Re: Wireless not working in 12.04 for rtl8192ce (RTL8188CE)
I've been running Kubuntu Precise since Jan 3rd and the 3.2.0-14 kernel and didn't have any problems until the 3.2.0-18 kernel. I've upgraded successively to the -21 kernel, which I am now using and the loss of receive performance is still present. Dropping my wireless router from 11n to 11g increased the time between drop outs but didn't stop them. Enabling or disabling IPv6 had no effect. As I carry my laptop away from my Tl-1430N wireless router (with three antennas and transmitting at high power) the signal strength drops from 90% (2.5 meters away) to20% (20 meters away), upon which the rtl8192ce disconnects from the AP. While I am setting here less than 3 meters from my AP with only 92% I have 5 neighbors who are getting 100% signal strength on my Acer 7739. There was an announcement claiming that the loss of receive performance had been fixed in 3.2.0-14. On March 30, 2012 GregH announced that the same problem had been patched in the 3.0-stable kernel. Perhaps someone with a little cred in that area should tell him that a regression has crept into the kernel since -19. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/902557 Title: Wireless not working in 12.04 for rtl8192ce (RTL8188CE) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/902557/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I hope you noticed my inital addendum, where I noted that the /home/username/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf file was not originall present, i.e., the /home/username/.config/ubuntuone/ was empty, but that I created a file by that name and added that line based on a suggestion found on the Internet. However, there was another syncdaemon.conf file in /etc/xdg/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf which has, among a lot of others, the lines: ... files_sync_enabled.default = True files_sync_enabled.action = store_true files_sync_enabled.parser = bool files_sync_enabled.help = Toggles synchronization of files (False disables syncdaemon entirely) ... Apparently it is not being read, or if it is, something is preventing the sync to establish. [Bug 548992] Re: Wireless connection frequently drops [deauthenticating by local choice (reason=3)]
I am running Kubuntu 10.4 on a Sony VAIO VGN-FW140E notebook which has an Intel Wifi Link 5100 chip.I have been using Kubuntu 10.4 since beta and I run wicd as the network manager. About a month ago I began noticing that about every five minutes my browsing would pause. I would open a Konsole and ping google.com and get after a couple seconds each ping began returning. The browser began working again. A couple days ago the kernel was updated to 2.6.32-25-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 19:52:42 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux. Now the disconnects happen within a couple minutes after beginning browsing, regardless of the browser. I rebooted using the previous kernel but the disconnects continue, usually reason 2 or 3. After I reconnect using wicd I begin pinging google.com It always fails around the 46th ping, plus or minus a couple. After ping fails on google.com it won't even ping my localhost or 127.0.0.1. Here is the work around I developed. I boot up my modem and wireless router. When they are stable I boot my notebook. After a couple minutes of browsing FireFox hangs. I close firefox. I open wicd and disconnect my access point BUT I DO NOT reboot my notebook. The I power cycle the modem and wireless. When they are stable I refresh wicd and click on my access point. It connects and stays connected. -- Wireless connection frequently drops [deauthenticating by local choice (reason=3)] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/548992 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 640497] Re: KDE fails to load since updates 2010-09-15
I created a VirtualBox guest host using the 9/8/10 Maverick LiveCD. It ran well. Yesterday I received notification of updates available. Rather than run KPackageKit I opened a Konsole and used apt-get. About 274 packages were updated. I rebooted and my KDE desktop appeared and ran normally. A few minutes later KPackageKit said 254 packages were available. I let it do the updates and rebooted when it told me to. I was greeted with the login screen loop. None of the usual remedies would fix it. So, also yesterday, 9/15/10, I downloaded the Maverick daily livecd with the intention of installing it over the existing Maverick guest OS on VirtualBox. Booting the LiveCD up within VirtualBox using the existing Maverick guest OS I was greeted with the Maverick LiveCD menu. I selected the install option straight away. An ubi-partmon failed with an exit code 141. A retry failed. Ignoring the failure resulted in a sterile install, with the progress bar missing, and it never progress beyond the final ad graphic. I canceled and the system proceeded to go to the LiveCD KDE desktop. While still running the LiveCD KDE desktop I installed gparted and created a bootable EXT4 partition, erasing the Maverick install that had resided there. Then I ran the install option from the desktop icon. Upon completion of the install I rebooted and was greeted again with the login screen loop. Today, 9/16/10, I booted into a console screen, thinking there would be some additional downloads which would resolve the situation. I did the apt-get update dist-upgrade. After between 20-30 downloads installed I rebooted. The login screen loop remains. [Bug 390311] Re: encryption of files fails with [GNUPG:] INV_RECP
After a fresh install of Kubuntu 10.4 a couple weeks ago, I added gpg2 and edited my KMail configuration to use my old key, which was accepted for both signing and encryption. However, sending an email to my self I found that my passphrase was not acceptable for decrypting, while it was acceptable for editing the key! ??? So, I revoked my old key and created a new 4096 key. Replacing the old key ID in KMail with the new Key ID I find that KMail accepted my new key ID to sign with but it refuses to accept that key ID to encrypt. The recommendation from the nabble link does apply, since I can insert my new key ID for signing, but even though my new key is the only key on my ring KMail refuses to allow me to use it as an encryption key. pc: Sony VAIO VGN-FW140E notebook, 3GB RAM, Intel Mobile 4 Graphics Chip (GM45), i915 video driver. Running with the 32bit Kubuntu Jaunty on this PC both Stellarium 0.10.1 and 0.10.2 worked well. I created another partition and install the 64bit Kubuntu Karmic. Running Stellarium 0.10.2 the menus were garbled but the star display and navigation worked well. Yesterday I scrubbed both Karmic and Jaunty off and gave Kubuntu Lucid Lynx the entire drive. Today I installed Stellarium 0.10.3 from the repository. The menu and configuration dialog distortions issue is fixed. However, the stars do NOT display. Using the Driconf app to disable tilling did not help. The menu showed FPS and FOV data, which fluctuated as I moved the mouse and scrolled the wheel in and out, but, ... NO stars! I decided to do a search on Jupiter. Suddenly, the Sun appeared, along with circles representing the location of the planets. Jupiter's location was bracketed. I hit the space bar and zoomed in. Jupiter appeared, along with its four major moons! Labled for stars that had lables began appearing, BUT, no dots or other graphical characters represent stars appear. I can see the milky way, M31 and a few other objects, but no stars appear. If I search for a star, say, Lyra, a circle appears, I hit the space bar and it centers, I zoom in and it appears. Off to the left is a small circle with the lable Smoke Ring ... . I click on it and zoom in and I can see the image of the smoke ring.. Zoom back out and face south, with the horizon barely showing on the bottom and I can see the Sun and small circles around where the planets should be located, their labels, but no planets or stars, unless I select one and zoom in on it. -- broken menus at Ubuntu Linux 9.04/9.10 with intel-2.8.1/2.9 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/426417 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 420287] [NEW] multiple occurances of apport-kde in memory
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apport-kde I had a successful upgrade of my Karmic Alpha4 installation today(8/27/09). 285 apps updated and the new 2.6.31-7 kernel was installed. This evening I noticed that FireFox 3.5 started acting sluggishly, as was my mouse, Thunderbird and SecondLife. I used SystemMonitor to check my memory usage and noticed 12 occurrences of apport-kde taking up memory but not using any cpu cycles. They were consuming almost a third of my 3 GB of RAM. I did sudo killal apport- kde and things snapped back to their usually FAST snappiness. ** Affects: apport (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- multiple occurances of apport-kde in memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420287 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 419309] [NEW] grub2 lists several kernel options but runs only two
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 I had Kubuntu 9.04 Jaunty installed and fully updated since Alpha4, in February. jaunty is on sda1 and it uses grub. Over the course of the updates the kernel was updated nine times, resulting in nine kernel options listed in /boot/grub/menu.lst. The latest kernel is 26.6.30. I peeled 40 GB off my HD and installed Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic Alpha4, to test it. Karmic is on sda5 and it uses grub2. Along with two Karmic kernel options, all nine of my Jaunty kernel options are listed in /boot/grub/grub.cfg on sda5. When I boot my notebook I can choose either Karmic kernel option without problems. When I choose the first option I get the 2.6.28-10 kernel. When I choose the last option I get the 2.6.28-15. When I choose any kernel in between the first and the last option I get the 2.6.28-15 kernel. Also, the kernel version is not listed in the grub2 menu option so it is impossible to tell which kernel option you are choosing unless you read grub.cfg and ASSUME that the menu lists the kernels in the same sequence they are listed in grub.cfg Unlike menu.lst, one cannot manually edit grub.cfg Here is my sda5 /boot/grub/grub.cfg: # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ### set default=0 set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa if loadfont /usr/share/grub/ascii.pf2 ; then set gfxmode=640x480 insmod gfxterm insmod vbe if terminal_output.gfxterm ; then true ; else # For backward compatibility with versions of terminal.mod that don't # understand terminal_output terminal gfxterm fi fi set timeout=10 ### END /etc/grub.d/00_header ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### set menu_color_normal=white/black set menu_color_highlight=black/white ### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### menuentry Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-6-generic { set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-6-generic root=UUID=792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa ro quiet splash initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-6-generic } menuentry Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-6-generic (recovery mode) { set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-6-generic root=UUID=792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa ro single initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-6-generic } menuentry Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-5-generic { set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-5-generic root=UUID=792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa ro quiet splash initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-5-generic } menuentry Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-5-generic (recovery mode) { set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-5-generic root=UUID=792ddcdd-b09c-45e2-a1a3-67f5a096d2aa ro single initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-5-generic } ### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### menuentry Memory test (memtest86+) { linux /boot/memtest86+.bin } menuentry Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200) { linux /boot/memtest86+.bin console=ttyS0,115200n8 } ### END /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### menuentry Ubuntu 9.04 (9.04) (on /dev/sda1) { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 077c86a4-e117-4cb2-8405-4680905d4ce5 linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-10-generic root=/dev/sda1 initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-10-generic } menuentry Ubuntu 9.04 (9.04) (on /dev/sda1) { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 077c86a4-e117-4cb2-8405-4680905d4ce5 linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-11-generic root=/dev/sda1 initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-11-generic } menuentry Ubuntu 9.04 (9.04) (on /dev/sda1) { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 077c86a4-e117-4cb2-8405-4680905d4ce5 linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-13-generic root=/dev/sda1 initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-13-generic } menuentry Ubuntu 9.04 (9.04) (on /dev/sda1) { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 077c86a4-e117-4cb2-8405-4680905d4ce5 linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-14-generic root=/dev/sda1 initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.28-14-generic } menuentry Ubuntu 9.04 (9.04) (on /dev/sda1) { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 077c86a4-e117-4cb2-8405-4680905d4ce5 linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-15-generic root=/dev/sda1 initrd

[Bug 405896] Re: [gm45] 3D image image ghosting
Another anomoly has appeared on my SecondLife screen. Also, a sold black line about 1/2 wide at about 3/4 from the right margin of my 100X900 display, began appearing. First it was light grey and somewhat transparent, but eventually it got solid black. Strangely, other objects could appear on top of it and they would cover it. Other 3D accelerated programs, like Stellarium, do not exhibit that black line. Only SecondLife. Hi Bryce! The output of lspci -vvnn is already in my original report, as is the xorg.conf contents. I have attached /var/log/xorg.0.log to this email, along with xorg.conf. I attached these right after running SecondLife and taking another snapshot to disk. It is 10:33PM CST but the timestamp on xorg.log is 9:05PM CST. In other words, taking the snapshot did not trigger any additions to the xorg log file. The entire snapshot is only 1.4MB. If that is not too big for your email service do you want me to send it? In both instances, clever marketing convinced the general public that something that was clean, safe and free was inferior to a product encased in plastic. ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29700114/Xorg.0.log ** Attachment added: xorg.conf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29700115/xorg.conf -- [gm45] 3D image image ghosting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405896 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 405896] [NEW] 3D image image ghosting
Public bug reported: Sony VAIO VGN-FW140E/H notebook with Intel Mobil Series 4 chipset. Centrino 2, 3GB RAM, 1600X900 display with Full HD 1080p I am running the 2.6.30 kernel and the launchpadpaa intel video enhancements steps which utilize the UAX mode. Here is my entire xorg.conf file, which includes the modifications suggested by the bleeding edge configuation. These enhancements increased my fps in SecondLife from and average of 4fps to an average of 25fps. ** Section Monitor Identifier Configured Monitor EndSection Section Screen Identifier Default Screen Monitor Configured Monitor Device Configured Video Device EndSection Section Device Identifier Configured Video Device Option AccelMethod uxa Option EXAOptimizeMigration true Option MigrationHeuristicgreedy Option Tilingtrue EndSection Section ServerFlags Option DontZap False EndSection ** Most applications which use accelerated video work fine: GoogleEarth, Tux Racer, LinCity-NG, Stellarium, gl-117, FlightSim, Pinballs, Billard-gl and foobillards. SecondLife works well, except when I take a screen snapshot or attempt to edit the avatar. Any editing in SecondLife is impossible because the image is too distorted. The screen snapshot of my avatar in SecondLife shows the problem and I have attached a pgn file of it. TORCS runs, but the image is garbled in the same way my SL avatar image is. Penumbra's three Linux role playing games are unusable. Their introductions work fine, but when in the tutorial mode trying to learn how to grab objects or move them the images are similar to my SL avatar snapshot, only worse. In the actual game mode the scenes are indecipherable so the games are unplayable. lspci -vvnn gives: **00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub [8086:2a40] (rev 07) Subsystem: Sony Corporation Device [104d:9035] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort+ SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Capabilities: [e0] Vendor Specific Information ?
