[Bug 863121] [NEW] New lightdm theme has not been updated (unity-greeter)

2011-09-30 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

I know that lightdm theme should have been updated.

On my Ubuntu 11.10, it has not been. I use it since the beginning of
11.10 dev and one day, I've edited gtk-greeter.conf in /etc/lightdm (to
change background).

Some time ago, I read on the internet that a new ubuntu lightdm theme
has been updated with unity-greeter.conf, but I my computer, it has not
been. No unity-greeter in /etc/lightdm .

Maybe I can download unity-greeter somewhere and enable it manually ?

[Bug 840826] [NEW] Firefox (flash) mute pulseaudio and do not appear in sound app list

2011-09-04 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10
hp notebook dv6

Regretion

When playing sound in firefox flash player, I can't use other sound app
(sound is muted). Only flash player "speaks". Furthermore, flash player
is not listed in Applications list of sound settings (as it was in
ubuntu 11.04).

However if I read HTML5 sound/video in firefox, it works properly (only
flash make sound system bugs).

[Bug 813809] Re: fglrx do not works : HP notbook dv6 - AMD Radeon HD 6300 Series

2011-07-21 Thread Guillaume Modard
I've investigate a little bit more this bug.

Actually, I haven't installed ATI proprietary driver. So I use only free
drivers.

Here is the result of some command :

guillaume@guillaume-notebook:~$ glxinfo | grep enderer
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ironlake Mobile

According to glxinfo, render is done by the Intel integrated card.

guillaume@guillaume-notebook:~$ grep /drivers/ /var/log/Xorg.0.log

[24.540] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fbdev_drv.so
[24.543] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so

Here, no radeon or radeonHD driver is loaded.

Finally, lspci show the ATI graphic card and says : "Kernel driver in
use: radeon"

What does it mean ? Does the ATI card is used or not ?

When I install proprietary driver, Catalyst says something like "no
graphic card"...

I'm not sure this bug has really been solved :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/727620 and
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30052

I'm not a specialist... is it a Kernel bug ? or Xorg bug ?

2011-07-20 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 11.10

[Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Kernel BUG during recovery boot and in normal boot (Hybrid graphics)

2011-05-16 Thread Guillaume Modard
I can confirm that :

- The bug is due to Switchable ATI + Intel graphics
- Both free and proprio driver do not work correctly :
--> Free Driver : Boot correctly every 5 to 10 time, without a complete support
of the ATI Graphic Card (comes very hot some time...)
--> Proprio Driver : Boot correctly every time, but with the intel integrated
graphic card (no Unity, only 2D gnome panel without effects)
- Most of the last HP laptop have this bug (= Ubuntu do note work on most of
the last HP laptop)

Is there any deadline for correct this critical bug ?
Does any team really work on it ?

[Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Driver crash during recovery boot and in normal boot (Regression from 2.6.38-3 to -4)

2011-03-21 Thread Guillaume Modard
I confirm that the bug is still there. I install last update this
morning (I saw xserver-xorg-video-ati, -radeon... update so I was
expecting the bug to be solved).

When I restart, I need to reboot more than 5 time before I get a
desktop. And now, when the boot crash, I don't get any shell, screen
stay black (as if it is off).

I really expect this bug will be solved before the final release. If
not, Ubuntu won't work on plenty of the last HP pavilion laptop.

[Bug 728668] [NEW] Need to start computer multiple time to get interface

2011-03-03 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I bought a new Laptop : HP Pavilion dv6. I've installed Ubuntu 11.04
without any trouble (it was slow, but no error).

Now, to start my computer, I need to restart several time to get the
User Interface. Sometime, I've to do it more than 6 time. In stead of
starting, I get the an error (see image, sorry for the poor quality).

I can't explain why the computer start correctly after some reboot. I do
nothing, just press the power button after the error, then, reboot.
After doing this several time, Unity start.

The error told me about Radeon. So I imagine that it can come from :
- The New Xorg version
- The Free Radeon Graphic driver
- Unity
- Plymouth

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 685485] [NEW] Click on App icon start wrong App

2010-12-05 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Ubuntu 11.04 alpha

I don't know how this bug happen (I mean I can't reproduce it when I want).
Some time, when I click on an icon in the Unity Side Bar, it is an other app
witch start (for example : I click on the browser and Totem start).

I'm not sure, but the problem seams to happen only with apps that I've
already start in the same session.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: unity

This bug already exist in 10.10 in Netbook ed. with Unity and seams to
be partially solved in 11.04 (artifacts still appear, but rarely).

Sometime and randomly, small artifacts appear on Unity interface over
- icons (look at the capture). In 10.10, it was every where (sometime,
- interface comes unreadable). Now, it seams to appear only on unity
- elements (the side bar and the menu bar). I never had this over opened

[Bug 685129] [NEW] Adding "Non Official" application to unity do not work

2010-12-04 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

With Natty Alpha 1 up to date.

I've downloaded an extra application which is not in official ubuntu
repository : Blender 2.55Beta directly from blender.org
(http://www.blender.org/download/get-254-beta/).

I unzip it to "/opt" folder and start Blender. It works and Blender icon
appear correctly on the Unity side bar. So I right click on the icon and
do "Pin to launcher" and close blender. The icon is still there, but
when I click on it, nothing happen.

Then, if I unlock or restart computer, the Blender icon disappear.

[Bug 511872] Re: OpenGL doesn't work with nvidia-current 190.53

2010-04-22 Thread Guillaume Modard
I think I've a similar bug. When I use OpenGL app, screen refresh start
to be really slow after a while (It can be 5 minutes or 2 hours... and I
can't really explain it with a specific action). Some points appear when
I move windows (after the "freeze") and I can't use OpenGL app if I do
not restart.

This bug didn't exist in 9.10.

[Bug 438771] Re: Creating a wireless or DSL connection fails with "Error editing connection: property '%s' / '%s' invalid: %d"

2009-10-29 Thread Guillaume Modard
I get the same bug in 9.10 final release :

Try to connect with DSL, enter Username and Password... and do not work
(it worked with ubuntu 9.04 this way). Furthermore, if I check "Enable
for all users" and click "Ok", then, if I want to edit again the
connection, I get a message : "Insufficient privilege".

To connect with PPPoE, I used sudo pppoeconf in a terminal.

[Bug 424546] Re: Printer Oki C5800 is badly supported

2009-09-05 Thread Guillaume Modard
When I run the command, I get this message :

"Downloading bug...

How to change privileges information in launchpad ?

However, for the driver, I use Oki C5800 driver as suggested in the
printer settings. I also tried other solutions found on linuxprinter
site, but the result is exactly the same.

Yes. But only on specific websites (like France 24, CanalPlus). YouTube
work, Dailymotion too. And only on the 64 bits versions.

[Bug 424570] [NEW] Only on 64bits, some flash contents are not loaded

2009-09-04 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Configuration :

- Ubuntu 9.04 64 bits
- Firefox 3
- Adobe Flash Player

Some flash contents can't be load. Mostly, it is live streaming content like on
this page :
http://www.france24.com/en (click on "Live feed" link after the headlines)

But some time, it is also simple flash contents :
http://www.canalplus.fr/c-humour/pid1784-c-les-guignols.html (click play on the
player). All canalplus.fr video player don't work

This bug appear always on the same sites (it is not a random bug).

But it is only for 64 bits version. I've not this problem on my 32 bits
computers.

[Bug 424562] [NEW] Screen DELL E228WFP not auto-detected (Double Nvidia Graphic card)

2009-09-04 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Here is the configuration :

- Ubuntu 9.04
- CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPUQ6600 @ 2.40GHz
- RAM : 2Go
- Graphic Card : 2 GeForce 8800GT (512 Mb each)
- Screen : DELL E228WFP
- General configuration : DELL XPS

Problem :
This problem appear when X11 has been updated for "auto-configure" screen and
graphic configuration (I mean since this update, xorg.conf is by default empty,
it is like "plug-and-play"). I can't remember when this update has been made
(which Ubuntu version) but since that version, I need to manually configure
xorg.conf to have a graphic interface. If I do not, I get a message :

Fatal server error
no screen found
giving up
Xinit: connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to xserver
Xinit: no such process (errno 3): server error

So I have to use vi and edit xorg.conf to configure manually my hardware
configuration.

I can't identify if the problem comes from my screen (DELL E228WFP)
which is not auto-detected or if it comes from the fact the I have 2
graphic cards. Here is my xorg.conf file :

This bug is not really important if you are a good linux user and know
how to configure screen with X11. But for beginer user, it's hard to do
that because you have to configure X11 with the live CD, then re-
configure it when system is installed, then if you want to use nvidia
driver in stead of nv, you have to configure xorg.conf again.

[Bug 424546] [NEW] Printer Oki C5800 is badly supported

2009-09-04 Thread Guillaume Modard
Public bug reported:

Since Ubuntu 8.10 (or 9.04), printer oki c5800 is supported and it's a
good thing.

But I discover tow bugs (one is really important) :

- On big documents or when I print a lot of time the same page, I have
to wait a lot of time before the document is printed. Sometime (when the
quantity of information is to important), the document is not printed. I
open the "system monitor" (in System > System monitor) to see how
resources are used and processor is up to 100% during the printing
process.

- I've discover a quality problem on color documents. First, colors are
dark. Secondly, there are plenty of points on photos or colored area as
if colors were compressed (like jpg compression). See the attached file
to see what it look like. I try to use other ICM Color Profile or
increase resolution value to 600x1200dpi, but the result is the same.
Look at the attachment to understand the problem.
