[Bug 223511] [NEW] I get UUID while booting up from hard drive

2008-04-28 Thread H.E.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

I have installed ubuntu 7.10 from livecd flawlessly. After that I reboot
my system. In every time First I see grub screen then I get UUID error
while booting up. ( Ps: I didn't repartition after installation). I got
this error not only from Ubuntu 7.10 but also from latest version of
Sabayon and PCLinuxOS. It appears the only working distro on my system
is Pardus 2007. I think the bug is related to nvidia nforce sata
drivers.

Here is the error I got:

Re: [Bug 60006] Re: Totem, although libdvdcss is installed, says DVD is encrypted

2008-04-12 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
I have gotten this error message once (and it was a while ago)...I now use
Hardy (haven't played any DVDs yet, but if I get any errors, there will be a
separate bug report for it).

I guess this one can be closed due to its old age.

[Bug 110187] Re: Wireless won't work unless 'Roaming mode' selected

2007-04-26 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
I can back this bug. It seems I have never been able to connect using
Ubuntu's Networking Administration tool. I can now connect using
Network Manager, but before using Network Manager, I was experiencing
avahi problems.

I don't know what avahi is, but the terminal would spew out an error
related to it.

[Bug 106129] Re: WPA2 Personal wireless networks don't work without manual configuration

2007-04-26 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
I have to third this, because I am having a problem, as others are,
connecting to a WPA2 network using Feisty. My understanding is that it
is not that a single wireless card is affected. I have a BCM4318 card,
and while I can connect to non-secure networks, I can't connect to my
own WPA2 network.

I try to connect via Network Manager. If nothing works, I'll have to
switch over to a non-GUI method, by specifying my network options using
/etc/init.d/interfaces.

[Bug 108013] Re: wpa_supplicant doesn't work with ndiswrapper anymore

2007-04-25 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
I can definitely add to this. I don't know if wpa_supplicant is having
an issue with ndiswrapper, but I do know wpa_supplicant is have some
issues at least. When issuing sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart, I
would get the following problem (several lines from the entire output):

send_packet: Operation not permitted
wpa_supplicant: cannot read contents of managed
run-parts: /etc/network/if-post-down.d/wpasupplicant exited with return code 1
wpa_supplicant: cannot read contents of managed
run-parts: /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/wpasupplicant exited with return code 1
There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.eth1.pid with pid 134993416

I would then be told the hostname is invalid. Bizarre. I don't know
what this all means. Either way, I am now using the Internet following
a guide on Ubuntu forums, but I still can't connect to WPA2 using my
BCM4318 card. One forum user reported having a working connection to a
WPA2 access point using only AES, and not TKIP-AES (He has a BCM4318
card). Using only AES won't work for me.

[Bug 51225] Re: false hibernation warning

2006-09-17 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
I too, along with many other Ubuntu users who have decided to use the
Ubuntu forums to share this error, have this problem. The error seems
to be benign, but I am getting the feeling that it is far more serious
than what some assume it to be.

As a matter of fact, it should probably be labled critical, because
any error facing HAL should probably be thoroughly checked out.

[Bug 60006] Totem, although libdvdcss is installed, says DVD is encrypted

2006-09-11 Thread H.E. Pennypacker
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have libdvdcss installed, and have been able to watch a DVD for over
an hour, when an error saying The source seems encrypted, and can't be
read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?

Why would it ask this question? It happened with only one or two DVDs I
was watching, and the error came up at the same time each time it
occured during the movie.

This must be a bug, because like I said, I already have libdvdcss
installed.
