[Bug 871133] Re: Volume Step not changeable in Unity and GNOME desktops

2017-07-15 Thread HEXcube
Now that the bug's fixed on upstream GNOME, it'll eventually make it
into Ubuntu's GNOME. And since Unity 7's discontinued, no point in
backporting unless for the last LTS running Unity (16.04). In my
opinion, the bug's effectively fixed.

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2016-10-30 Thread HEXcube
@jbicha Thanks for explaining the SRU policy. So, SRUs are about
backporting patches from newer Ubuntu releases without adding extra
features, ryt? In that case, I think I should submit the feature patch
for the current development release like u pointed out.

@octoquad Referred ur previous comment about 3rd party themes. I see
that Software Center already loads 3rd party themes (except for dark
theme of each 3rd party theme). Looking forward to test the package with
your patch merged in 

2016-10-02 Thread HEXcube
@octoquad I appreciate the effort u took in backporting the patch, but
now that Ubuntu 14.04LTS's final point release (14.04.5) is already
released, I wonder if this patch can still make it into Trusty repos.
Does the SRU process continue even after the point releases? 

Don't mean to belittle your hard work or anything, but just wanna be
sure your effort doesn't go waste.

2016-10-02 Thread HEXcube
Thanks @octoquad! 

Applied your debdiff patch and tested. Replaced these 3 files with the
patched one:

/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/ui/gtk3/utils.py
/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/ui/gtk3/view/catview.py
/usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.adwaita-dark.css

But modified the `utils.py` file a bit, so that it loads themes other
than Adwaita in dark mode. I've attached the modified `utils.py` file

[Bug 1568494] [NEW] Greeter badge icon submission: Budgie desktop

2016-04-10 Thread HEXcube
Public bug reported:

Please can the icon for 퐁퐮퐝퐠퐢퐞 desktop be added to the package?

Since our project 퐛퐮퐝퐠퐢퐞-퐫퐞퐦퐢퐱 is planning to become an official flavor
퐔퐛퐮퐧퐭퐮 퐁퐮퐝퐠퐢퐞 by the next release cycle, adding the logo seems like a
good step in that direction. 

I've attached the required 16x16 symbolic svg icon which matches the
other symbolic icon badges in https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~lightdm-gtk-
greeter-team/lightdm-gtk-greeter/trunk/files/head:/data/badges/ . It's
derived from Yuri Henrique's original Budgie logo and licensed under CC
BY-SA 4.0 (https://github.com/budgie-remix/assets/blob/master/LICENSE ).
It's currently used in budgie-remix's LightDM GTK Greeter:
https://github.com/budgie-remix/budgie-remix-lightdm-
theme/blob/master/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/places/budgie-
desktop_badge-symbolic.svg .

As something related worth mentioning here, we previously submitted a
badge icon for Unity Greeter (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/unity-greeter-badges/+bug/1562182 ) and it got accepted!  So, we
request that this badge be accepted too in a similar way.

[Bug 1561803] Re: GNOME Videos shows menubar instead of AppMenu on the CSD Headerbar

2016-03-28 Thread HEXcube
I've added a screenshot showing how GNOME Videos should look under a
desktop other than Unity 7 (especially other GNOME based desktops like
Budgie, Pantheon, etc). The screenshot's from GNOME Videos running on
Budgie desktop. I tinkered with the following gsettings value in
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings :

{'Gtk/ShellShowsAppMenu': <0>, 'Gtk/ShellShowsMenubar': <1>,
'Gtk/DecorationLayout': <'menu:minimize,maximize,close'>}

Tried different combinations of 'Gtk/ShellShowsAppMenu': <0>,
'Gtk/ShellShowsMenubar': <1> to get it right. It seems the culprit is a
bug in the patch adding menubar for GNOME Videos:

[Bug 1562182] Re: missing greeter icon for budgie-desktop

2016-03-26 Thread HEXcube
Hi @profzoom

Me and @fossfreedom had a discussion about which logo to use as badge.
We decided to use Yuri Henrique's original budgie logo for now and not
the budgie-remix (Ubuntu Budgie) logos I submitted earlier. Coz budgie-
remix's currently using most of budgie-desktop in it's vanilla form.

So, I've attached a 22x22 badge derived from Yuri Henrique's monochrome
symbolic version of Budgie logo:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tbk1qozkzdh2642/AABRxPRGxwNnwQNPdgZx1F1Aa
/Budgie-Menu-Icon/view-grid-symbolic.svg.mono . You can view it on our
assets repo: https://github.com/budgie-remix/assets/blob/master/Budgie

[Bug 1562182] Re: missing greeter icon for budgie-desktop

2016-03-26 Thread HEXcube
@profzoom Thanx for offering to help us! 

I've attached 3 logos in 22x22 size:

▪ custom_budgie-remix_badge.png : A monocolor icon with alpha
transparency, coz the badges from http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2015/01
/unity-greeter-badges-brings-missing-session-icons-ubuntu-login-screen
had transparent parts. Generated from https://github.com/budgie-
remix/assets/blob/master/budgie-remix-logo-large-inverted.svg

If for some reason, a transparent badge doesn't work, here u go:
▪ custom_budgie-remix_badge.large.png : Generated from
https://github.com/budgie-remix/assets/blob/master/budgie-remix-logo-large.svg

And if that icon doesn't scale well for small sizes:
▪ custom_budgie-remix_badge.medium.png : Generated from
https://github.com/budgie-remix/assets/blob/master/budgie-remix-logo-medium.svg

All logos here (and in our repo https://github.com/budgie-remix/assets )
are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 (https://github.com/budgie-
remix/assets/blob/master/LICENSE ). budgie-remix Logo is designed by me
(HEXcube ) and Joshua "Foggalong" Fogg. It's derived from Yuri
Henrique's original Budgie logo.

[Bug 871133] Re: Volume Step not changeable in Unity and GNOME desktops

2015-12-02 Thread HEXcube
I'm attaching the @george-edison55 (Nathan Osman)'s patch to fix the bug
here. It's from Nathan Osman's PPA ppa:george-edison55/gnome-settings-
daemon - https://launchpad.net/~george-edison55/+archive/ubuntu/gnome-
settings-daemon . The PPA contains bugfixed gnome-settings-daemon and
unity-settings-daemon packages for Ubuntu 14.04LTS, 15.04 and 15.10. The
patch attached here is for gnome-settings-daemon v3.16.3 in Ubuntu 15.10
"Wily Werewolf".

[Bug 1309709] Re: galternatives cannot add or choose alternatives

2015-11-20 Thread HEXcube
The bugfixed galternatives version 0.13.5+nmu3 is in upstream Debian and
synced into Ubuntu 14.10 and up (See
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/galternatives ). Since
galternatives 0.13.5+nmu2ubuntu1 - the one in 퐔퐛퐮퐧퐭퐮 ퟏퟒ.ퟎퟒ퐋퐓퐒 푻풓풖풔풕풚
푻풂풉풓's repo is non-functional and 0.13.5+nmu3 seems to be backward
compatible, I think this qualifies for a backport through Stable Release
Updates (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates ). So, I request
galternatives package be included in Trusty SRU.

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2015-11-20 Thread HEXcube
@octoquad , I downloaded the modified files from your branch
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~octoquad/software-center/899878-hardcoded-
colors-dark-theme/revision/3326 and used them to directly replace the
corresponding files in `/usr/share/software-center/*` . I wouldn't
normally replace files like this, but Ubuntu 14.04LTS and 15.10 use the
same version of Software Center except for some patches (See
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center ).

Then for testing dark theme, I copied `/usr/share/software-
center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.adwaita-dark.css` and renamed the copy
to `softwarecenter.numix bluo-dark.css`, coz Numix Bluo (a custom mod of
Numix theme) is my current GTK theme. Then I opened Software Center and
it loaded the dark theme!  But wait, the color was a bit grey coz of
the old `stipple.png`. So, I tried @bsperger 's transparent stipple from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-center/+bug/899878/comments/37 but
for some reason it crashes Software Center.  So, I tried the one from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-center/+bug/899878/comments/40 and
exported it to PNG using GIMP. Software Center loads it fine, but
results were similar to the 4th case (transparent stipple with custom
css) from https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-
center/+bug/899878/comments/39 . So, like in the 5th case, I edited
`/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/ui/gtk3/views/catview.py` and
reduced alpha to 0.1 and then it looked well!

So on the whole, the patch looks compatible with 14.04LTS's Software
Center and so I request a backport through an SRU update.

did the testcase with 4 workspaces, autohid Unity Launcher, tried the
test from left workspace to right, right to left and from bottom to top
too. Since the new Unity passed the test case in all possible
combinations, I guess it's verified for inclusion in SRU.

[Bug 1306928] Re: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2015-11-17 Thread HEXcube
Since Ubuntu 15.10"Wily"'s getting EOL'd in 9 months and Software
Center's gonna be dropped from Ubuntu 16.04LTS, I think the most
relevant place for this fix is Ubuntu 14.04LTS "Trusty Tahr". Like
@narcisgarcia pointed out, Software Center on 14.04LTS shouldn't be left
unfixed for 5 years until 2019!

Besides, there wasn't any major version change between trusty and wily
versions of Software Center, as you can see from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center . So, a backport's
feasible. How about we request to backport this fix through an SRU
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates) for Ubuntu 14.04LTS?

[Bug 1449654] Re: windows can be resized from wrong workspace

2015-11-16 Thread HEXcube
@krister The 푼풏풊풕풚 7.3 package in 15.10 풘풊풍풚 already got fixed. As you
can see from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity 풘풊풍풚 shipped
Unity v7.3.2+15.10.20151016-0ubuntu1, newer than the one where bug was
fixed - 7.3.2+15.10.20150819-0ubuntu1.

This bug report is now for verifying the backported fix on 퐔퐛퐮퐧퐭퐮
ퟏퟒ.ퟎퟒ퐋퐓퐒 "Trusty Tahr"'s 푼풏풊풕풚 7.2. This'll enable Ubuntu 14.04LTS to

[Bug 1405349] Re: switching to activated guest session causes screen blank

2015-11-16 Thread HEXcube
Installed and tested all 3 patched 퐔퐧퐢퐭퐲 ퟕ version
7.2.6+14.04.20151021-0ubuntu1 packages on 퐔퐛퐮퐧퐭퐮 ퟏퟒ.ퟎퟒ퐋퐓퐒 "Trusty". I
did 3 Test Cases:

[퐓퐞퐬퐭 퐂퐚퐬퐞 ퟏ]
Ran
sudo true && gdbus call --session --dest org.gnome.ScreenSaver \
 --object-path /com/canonical/Unity/Session --method \
 com.canonical.Unity.Session.ActivateScreenSaver && \
 sleep 1 && sudo chvt 1 && sleep 1 && sudo chvt 7

Result: 퐒퐮퐜퐜퐞퐬퐬. Doesn't show blank screen forever, shows LockScreen on
waiting a few seconds.

[퐓퐞퐬퐭 퐂퐚퐬퐞 ퟐ]
1. login with your account normally.
2. switch to guest session from the panel menu "Switch Account... -> Guest
Session", now it's under guest session and the display is normal.
3. switch back to your user account, then switch to guest session again.

Result: 퐒퐮퐜퐜퐞퐬퐬. Shows Guest Session without needing to wake up the
screen. Shows Login Screen when switching back to main user.

[퐓퐞퐬퐭 퐂퐚퐬퐞 ퟑ]
Method proposed by @robert-ancell . Triggered LockScreen on Guest Session by
typing Super+L inside the guest session.

Result: 퐒퐮퐜퐜퐞퐬퐬. Well, it's not a blank screen (sleeping screen) anymore
but a black screen with mouse pointer visible.

With the new Unity passing all test cases, I think I verified it for
inclusion in SRU.

from the 풑풓풐풑풐풔풆풅 repo. Tested and verified that the close and
maximize/restore buttons on Dash now shows prelight on hover and pressed
state on pressing. This was one of those minor bugs that always annoyed
me. Glad to have it finally fixed! 

The minimize button is still inactive and serves no purpose in Unity
Dash, but I think it's placed there intentionally to be consistent with
maximized window buttons on Unity panel.

[Bug 1132523] Re: android-tools-adb udev script uses unknow group

2015-09-28 Thread HEXcube
android-tools-adb package in 퐔퐛퐮퐧퐭퐮 ퟏퟒ.ퟎퟒ퐋퐓퐒 and newer Ubuntu releases
uses a structurally different /lib/udev/rules.d/70-android-tools-
adb.rules file with no reference to "adbusers","plugdev" or any other
group. See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools . adb now
works 'out of box' for most devices without needing to start it as root
and solves bug #1051938

The file /lib/udev/rules.d/51-android-rules.rules affected by this bug
was from android-tools package in an older EOL'd Ubuntu release. So,
this bug is solved in all currently supported releases of Ubuntu. I'm
closing this bug as "Fix Released"

[Bug 1306928] Re: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed

2015-09-28 Thread HEXcube
The fixed 퐣퐨퐜퐤퐞퐲 package is in Ubuntu 12.04LTS "Precise"'s 풑풓풐풑풐풔풆풅 repo
for almost one and half years! See:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey

I already tested 퐣퐨퐜퐤퐞퐲 from precise-proposed on linux-generic-lts-
trusty on 3.13 kernel :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/comments/13
. Additionally @fourdollars and me tested it on linux-generic-lts-saucy
3.11 kernel too:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/comments/12
and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/comments/6

So, I think all the necessary testing's been already done. Please
consider releasing the new 퐣퐨퐜퐤퐞퐲 package to precise updates and close
this bug.

[Bug 1051938] Re: Android ADB driver needs root

2015-09-28 Thread HEXcube
This bug's been fixed on newer Ubuntu releases. From 퐔퐛퐮퐧퐭퐮 ퟏퟒ.ퟎퟒ퐋퐓퐒
"Trusty" and up adb works 'out of the box' on most devices. adb is made
part of android-tools source package and is available from Ubuntu repos:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools . adb can be
installed by the following command:

sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb

This package installs /lib/udev/rules.d/70-android-tools-adb.rules for
udeb to recognise android devices in adb mode. So, there's no need to
use root for devices to get recognised in adb anymore. Please consider
closing this bug report as it's already been solved.

[Bug 1363686] Re: conky-all is not available in the Utopic repositories

2015-09-25 Thread HEXcube
Why isn't this bug marked as 퐬퐨퐥퐯퐞퐝 yet?

As of version 1.9.0-5 풄풐풏풌풚-풂풍풍 source package got integrated into 풄풐풏풌풚
source package. See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/conky . As a
result, the same 풄풐풏풌풚 source package now provides both conky-std and
conky-all as two separate binary packages. This was a change from
upstream Debian. See https://packages.debian.org/source/sid/conky . This
makes it easier to maintain the two binary packages and also prevents
previous bugs when they were built from different conky versions.

Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid" and up come with conky 1.9.0-6 or newer and as a
result provides the conky-all package. Besides Ubuntu 14.10 is aready
EOL'd. So there's nothing in this bug to fix anymore and I'm marking it
as "Fix Released".

[Bug 1306608] Re: Unity global menu delays actions in a gtk2 app

2014-09-26 Thread HEXcube
On running VisualBoyAdvance-M's GTK frontend (vbam-gtk) on Ubuntu 14.04LTS, the
menu doesn't respond if a ROM is already loaded and being emulated. I tried
with both global menu and LIM, both had the same problem. However, like
@sergio-br2 mentioned, menu work with legacy GTK2 menus.
Surprisingly, Ubuntu 12.04's Unity 5 has no problem with vbam-gtk's global
menu! So, this seems to be a bug that creeped in somewhere between Unity 6
(Ubuntu 12.10) and Unity 7.2 (Ubuntu 14.04LTS). 'vbam' will be replacing
'visualboyadvance' in the Debian repo (See bug #378561 and
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=541157), coz the former is the
most actively maintained fork of the latter which is now inactive. Ubuntu 14.04
being an LTS release need to address such usability issues and fix this bug.

[Bug 1306928] Re: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed

2014-05-10 Thread HEXcube
@bryandeng Ubuntu 14.04 uses the package 'ubuntu-drivers-common' instead of
12.04's 'jockey'. That is why jockey and 'ubuntu-drivers-common' are marked
invalid for Trusty and Precise respectively. You shouldn't have changed it.
I'm also using BCM4313 which from 3.10 kernel onwards works better with the
open source brcmsmac driver in kernel. No need to install
'linux-firmware-nonfree'. Doing lspci shows b43 in my case too, but I don't
know if it should be blacklisted.

[Bug 1306928] Re: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed

2014-05-07 Thread HEXcube
I did the test case on my Ubuntu 12.04.4 with linux-generic-lts-saucy
kernel 3.11.0-18. I didn't install linux-generic-lts-trusty as
instructed in the SRU test case coz brcmsmac works good for all kernels
above v3.10 which includes the saucy kernel too. So, I installed jockey
and jockey-common version 0.9.7-0ubuntu7.15 and ran the following
command:

jockey-text --auto-install

It didn't install bcmwl-kernel-source. So, iguess this solves the
problem. But, i still have to test with the updated kernel. So, i'm not
marking this as verified.

@Shih-Yuan Lee Your BCM4321 (14e4:4328) also used bcmwl-kernel-source in

[Bug 1306928] [NEW] Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed

2014-04-12 Thread HEXcube
Public bug reported:

The propreitory driver Broadcom STA (packaged as 'bcmwl-kernel-source',
provides 'wl' kernel module) gets autoinstalled upon Ubuntu 12.04.4
installation on systems with Broadcom BCM4313 (14e4:4727) wireless cards. Upto
Ubuntu 12.04.3 with 3.8 kernel, this was good behaviour. But, with 3.11 kernel
used in Ubuntu 13.10 and Ubuntu 12.04.4, the official open source 'brcmsmac'
driver had improved (with the newly implemented AdHoc and AP mode, and other
improvements) over propreitory 'wl'. On newer kernel versions, 'brcmsmac' works
better than 'wl'.
Autoinstalling the 'wl' driver would actually be a downgrade of
functionality. I understand that there are some cards work only with 'wl', but
it's better not to do autoinstall of 'bcmwl-kernel-source' on the ones
supported by 'brcmsmac'. It maybe offered on the jockey Additional Drivers
list, though I don't see any reason why anyone would prefer 'wl' over
'brcmsmac' now. I don't know if this issue remains on Ubuntu 14.04LTS's jockey
merged with 'ubuntu-drivers' package. But, if it does that has to be fixed too.
I hope this issue is fixed soon, so that Ubuntu 12.04.5 is released with the
fixed jockey.

[Bug 1051938] Re: Android ADB driver needs root

2013-11-26 Thread HEXcube
This bug is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/android-tools/+bug/1132523 filed under the same project. Both bugs are
the result of a single problem and a solution would solve both of them.
The problem is that the udev rule created by android-tools in
/lib/udev/rules.d/51-android-rules.rules assigns GROUP=adbusers.This
is a nonexistant group. I solved the bug by changing the
GROUP=adbusers entries to GROUP=plugdev. I'm attaching the fixed
/lib/udev/rules.d/51-android-rules.rules file.

According to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools/+bug/1132523, an
alternative would be to create a 'postinst' script in 'android-rules' package
to run the command
groupadd -r adbusers
This is the ideal method, but i haven't tested it.

The latest rules 70-android-rules-adb.rules in Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty
Tahr's development version of android-tools-adb contain entirely
different rules. They seem to contain fixes for mtp,mass-storage mode
when used with usb-debugging.

[Bug 1132523] Re: android-tools-adb udev script uses unknow group

2013-11-26 Thread HEXcube
The bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-
tools/+bug/1051938 is a side effect of this bug. Solving this would
solve the other bug too. I used a workaround by replacing
GROUP=adbusers with an already existing GROUP=plugdev and solved
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools/+bug/1051938.
I'd prefer adding adbusers group, but in case of any technical difficulty
in doing so,this can be used as a workaround.

However, this bug seems to be already fixed as per the 70-android-tools-
adb.rule in Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr's development version of android-
tools-adb package http://launchpadlibrarian.net/152349346/android-tools-
adb_4.2.2%2Bgit20130218-3ubuntu16_amd64.deb.

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2013-11-14 Thread HEXcube
I tried both default themes Radiance and Ambience in Ubuntu 12.04 to check if
they work well with killhellokitty's CSS file. Everything seems to be okay,
except for selected items' text color in list view. Both background and
foreground are light colors. this is because the CSS file was designed for dark
themes.
ideally software center should show dark text with light background and light
text on dark themes. killhellokitty's css theme is better than the default one,
but needs a little more work to be the ideal theme.

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2013-10-26 Thread HEXcube
I can't believe that this bug started in Oneiric(maybe even before that) and
it's still not fixed after Raring (as per
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/913933 ). Ubuntu
Software Center is a core feature of Ubuntu distribution and yet such a bug
which affects its usability is left unnoticed! Why can't it just follow the
system theme instead of using hardcoded colors.
Some Dark Theme developers have found workarounds involving replacing the
softwarecenter.css with custom versions. One such fix by Delorean Dark theme
developer is attached here. It is optimised for Dark Themes and works fine with
light ones too. I don't know if it works perfectly with light themes, but it
does try to use current theme colors instead of hardcoded ones, atleast in some
places.

[Bug 138491] Re: Please remove gcursor from raring (and prior?) - dead upstream, broken

2013-10-07 Thread HEXcube
This problem affects Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin too. It should be
removed from Precise repos too! Actually it should have been removed
from the repos long before Precise, during the Karmic times.
