[Bug 1903836] Re: Gnome-maps search does not work

2020-11-23 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Same here, on bionic with gnome-maps 3.28.1-1.

I can search for an address, a landmark or else, but if I select it (by
pressing enter for instance) the map won't navigate to this point.

Directions, however, are working fine (with the search function still
being a bit shaky).

[Bug 1405001] Re: Gstreamer 1.0 has missing core elements

2014-12-26 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Ok, found the fix on an partially related AskUbuntu question. I just had
to empty the gst1.0 cache:

rm -r ~/.cache/gstreamer-1.0

And then everything worked. The Ubuntu update tool maybe screwed up at
some point with this.

[Bug 1405001] [NEW] Gstreamer 1.0 has missing core elements

2014-12-22 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Public bug reported:

I wanted to test gstreamer's pipeline functions in command line using
Jono Bacon's tutorial. I thus ran

gst-launch-1.0 filesrc location=mysong.mp3 ! decodebin !
audioconvert ! alsasink

And this error came up:

ERROR: pipeline could not be constructed: no element filesrc.

I dug a little through the google searches, and using gstreamer-
inspect1.0, I was able to list all the installed plugins. Amazingly,
*none of the coreelements plugins are present*.

Is there a way to fix this? Is there a packet that might have been
forgotten in the 13.10-14.04 update process?

PS: I have troubles with *all* the gstreamer-dependent application on my
14.04 install so this is probably related.

[Bug 1155579] [NEW] Complete gnome-shell freeze when using the Browse files over bluetooth function on my smartphone

2013-03-15 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Public bug reported:

If I try browsing files over the bluetooth connection with my
smartphone, the whole thing works pretty well. However, if I try
copy/pasting a couple of MP3's in my smartphone's memory card (still
over bluetooth) in Nautilus, the whole UI frezes (including gnome). I
had to kill gnome-session over TTY.

I know the bluetooth file browsing function is pretty unstable, but it
shouldn't block the whole interface. I had it try to read a MP3 over the
bluetooth connection, rhythmbox froze, and so did the Shell.

[Bug 996431] [NEW] Network manager's GUI randomly fails and locks itself

2012-05-08 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I'm running an upgraded-to-12.04 ubuntu version.
The Network Manager deamon didn't use to cause me much trouble at all with the
Ocelot, but here it's getting kind of annoying...
Here's the problem: and random times (I could not decipher any pattern in the
happening of the bug), the little drop-down menu for N-M still appears, but
become unsuable. It won't react to clicks, and when i aim for the More
network extra menu, it displays almost nothing, as if the actual more
networks menu had been emptide of all its entries and then then still
displayed.
I will provide screenshots when the thing happens again some.

The weird thing is that N-M still works in the background: if i turn on
and off the wifi chip with the physical button, it reconnects properly,
but on its own. The annoying thing is that i can't change network.

As a fix, i sudo killall NetworkManager it, but it has various
effects. Sometimes it restarts well and the bug has disppeared,
sometimes it's even worse.

Do ask anything, i look forward to helping you fix this.

[Bug 816914] [NEW] Transmageddon doesn't appear to be transcoding video from h264 codec.

2011-07-27 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Public bug reported:

It's not the first time i come across this problem with Transmageddon:
If i input an mkv video file encoded in h264, it won't transcode anything! I
can put whichever video format i want, it won't transcode the mkv file to it.
The progress bar doesn't move, no new transcoded file is created, and the CPU
use of the transmageddon thread doesn't rise.
Do fix this, it's too bad such a straightforward and intuitive program fails
like this.

[Bug 756564] Re: After Maverick to Natty upgrade, grub won't boot and displays symbol not found : 'grub_env_export'

2011-05-08 Thread Hadrien Titeux
I tested it on a PC with 2 hard disks, basically the same and exact
configuration, but amazingly it ran *fine*. The only difference is that
on the other PC (the one that created the bug), both HDD were SATA, and
here one of the two is IDE.

[Bug 756564] Re: Ater Maverick to Natty upgrade, grub won't boot and displays symbol not found : 'grub_env_export'

2011-04-12 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Yeah, i didn't want to use the good'ol CDboot-and-chroot method to repair GRUB
until someone more advanced than could maybe use the bug to eventually fix it.
The repair worked fine, and i can merilly boot my 11.04 now.
The command output you asked is attached to this message.

I may precise that my computer conf may have tricked in some ways the grub
installer:
sda: an old XP with only 1 partition
sdb: an automatic-use-the-whole-disk ubuntu install
Not so complicated actually, but what do you know...
Thanks!

[Bug 756564] [NEW] Ater Maverick to Natty upgrade, grub won't boot and displays symbol not found : 'grub_env_export'

2011-04-10 Thread Hadrien Titeux
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

It's pretty much all in the title, but Grub2 messed up after the upgrade from
10.10 to 11.04. During the install, i watched carefully the configuration
procedure, it ran fine.
I then just rebooted, and there it was: grub simply said:
error: symbol not found: 'grub_env_export'
grub rescue

(btw: grub rescue doesn't even return me a help menu on help)

Everything else works fine, and audacity in particular. I googled the problem
and did not find a fix :(

Please get it fixed, this could be really great.

[Bug 290313] Re: system-wide proxy does not apply to synaptic

Yep, i got the same problem: i changed my system-wide settings to a proxy
connection, then wanted to get back to the regular direct connection... and it
didn't work.
The weird thing is that i can still access the web through most applications,
like Firefox or aMSN, but none of system-related apps work, such as:
-synaptic/aptitude/software center/update manager
-wget

I cannot find a fix so could you post one for now (i did not know how to
do the one suggested at the beginning of the thread).

Sorry for the double-post, but i actually found a solution that does well the
trick:
run

sudo nano /etc/apt/apt.conf

then write de line

Acquire::http::Proxy direct;

Then save, and everything works fine (even wget :O ).
