[Bug 404647] [NEW] Documents with the extension docx

2009-07-25 Thread han
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I thought that OO 3.0 could read Word documents with the extension docx
but I get the message 'file is not a WinWord6 document.' The docx file
has no other 'specials' than it requires a password to open it. I use
Ubuntu 9.04.

That is 'the solution' but that means that I can't open docx-files with
a password. Received files first opening in Word to remove the password
and than opening in OO is not really a solution. Is there some other way
to open it in OO?

[Bug 76182] Re: GRUB does not start with "splash"

2007-06-10 Thread Han
On an ASUS M2NPV-VM mobo the problem still exists with 7.04.
With splash on it does not boot and/or shut down on 1 out of 5 tries.
Remove splash and it boots and shuts down reliably.

Public bug reported:

I'm using the terminal from Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal that
comes with Ubuntu 7.10

After typing " &" into the terminal and closing the
terminal, I was expecting the terminal to close but the application to
continue running.

What happened when i closed the terminal was that the application closed
as well when it should have been running.

I have tried running applications like xload, glxgears glchess in the
background by using the & sign.
eg: glchess &

but the applications still terminated.

[Bug 390728] [NEW] evolution crash with SIGPIPE

2009-06-22 Thread Han Pilmeyer
Public bug reported:

Evolution (2.26.1-0ubuntu2) randomly crashes with SIGPIPE on Ubuntu
Jaunty 9.04. This happens a few times a week.

Crash seems to be in libORBit which unfortunately doesn't have debugging
symbols. Please let me know what I can do to help (e.g. which package to
install in order to get debugging symbol).

I'll attach the full back trace in an update to this bug.

Program received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe.

[Bug 390728] Re: evolution crash with SIGPIPE

2009-06-22 Thread Han Pilmeyer
Can't really describe what I was doing, which is why I said "randomly".
I was working in another workspace. When I switched back to the
workspace that had Evolution, I noticed that the window did not update.
So I switched to the workspace that has the gdb session from which I run
Evolution and I noticed that it had crashed.

It's not reproducible, but I've had several since I run Evolution from
gdb. Before that I couldn't tell what caused the crashes. "Several times
a week" is my best guess at the moment for the frequency.

Re: [Bug 390728] Re: evolution crash with SIGPIPE

2009-06-22 Thread Han Pilmeyer
Pedro,

Would you rather have me report these bugs directly into Bugzilla on
Gnome or should I got through launchpad? Is that what Sebastian was
asking?

In the past I have reported directly to Gnome. Perhaps I misunderstood,
but I thought one of the advantages of launchpad was to link these
together (sort of).

[Bug 344423] [NEW] System freezing when connecting with bcm4328 wireless card in Jaunty Alpha 6

2009-03-17 Thread SeungCheol Han
Public bug reported:

I installed Jaunty Alpha 6 on my laptop using bcm 4328 wireless card.
As usual this card is always trouble maker when installing ubuntu.

Surprisingly Jaunty alpha 6 distribution got its wireless signal with little
effort:
I used the following commands:

sudo modprobe -r b43 b44 ssb wl b43legacy
sudo modprobe wl
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Then I can connect the wireless network with SSID 'dhw'. This network uses
PEAP, user id, and password
to get a network setup. And then, showing two green circles, my laptop goes to
freeze shortly and after rebooting,
also I have the same problem. I did not choose any certificates on the
configuration.

After installation, I found that in the restricted driver, there is 'Broadcom
STA wireless driver'. I think that
this driver does not support my wireless card, bcm 4328.

Attached was the 'lshw -C network':
sfe...@jaunty:~$ sudo lshw -C network
  *-network
   description: Wireless interface

   configuration: broadcast=yes driver=wl0 driverversion=5.10.27.11

[Bug 305907] Re: Complete system freeze when trying to connect to WPA2 network

2009-03-23 Thread SeungCheol Han
Use the latest Broadcom driver at the site:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php
and its patch. At the 2393th row, change
count = pmkcandlist->npmkid_cand;
to
count = ntoh32(pmkcandlist->npmkid_cand);
and then rebuild it to get the new wl.ko module.

Follow the file Readme.txt and all done!!

I am also connecting the setting of WPA & WPA2 Enterprise, Protected EAP
(PEAP), MSCHAPv2 with BCM4328 chip.
No CA Certificate was chosen. Provide your login information.

All Done!! I am free of Ndiswrapper finally.

[Bug 358411] [NEW] [Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv9000 (GA361UA#ABA)] hibernate/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

2009-04-09 Thread SeungCheol Han
Public bug reported:

Before this problem I have never experienced any problem.
I upgraded my system from Intrepid 8.10 a few days ago.

When I used the hibernation yesterday, in five seconds I again
got the Login window which I'd meet after waking up from
hibernation. And I retried to hibernate my system and it has
gone well except for one thing: Although I do not remember
what is was, I had a warning message regarding IRQ problem.
And then, this morning I got this failure from resuming the hibernation.

Thank you.

[Bug 393754] [NEW] Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 missing dbgsym package

2009-06-30 Thread Han Pilmeyer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

My wife has frequent crashes in Thunderbird. I've set up everything so
that I can capture stack traces when this happens. However last week
Ubuntu was upgraded through jaunty-updates from 2.0.0.21 to 2.0.0.22.
But one week later the corresponding thunderbird-dbgsym package in the
ddebs.ubuntu.com repository has remained at 2.0.0.21+nobinonly-
0ubuntu1.9.04.1.

This is making it impossible to capture meaningful backtraces. Can this
package be updated also?

[Bug 385867] [NEW] Evolution crash with SIGSEGV

2009-06-11 Thread Han Pilmeyer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I wasn't doing anything in particular with evolution when it crashed
with SIGSEGV. However I do have schedules where I process new messages
from a local store and imap and filter these. So it could have been
during one of those actions. This happens about ones a day. Attached is
the stack backtrace of all threads.

Evolution was very stable for me under 8.10. This problem started as
soon as I upgraded to Jaunty 9.04. Currently using evolution
2.26.1-0ubuntu2.

I'm currently trying to run evolution under valgrind, but I'm not sure
that will be a workable option as it seems to slow evolution down to a
crawl.

Please let me know what I can do to help fix this issue.

[Bug 236160] [NEW] Sigma symbol is shown while using Korean word

2008-05-30 Thread SeungCheol Han
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Hello.

I am an OpenOffice 2.4 user.
It is so great office product when I am using English only.
But if I decide to build some document with Korean character,
it makes me get in trouble. Actually, it might not be a big problem.

With nonprinting charaters turned on, any space between Korean words
gets special Greek character, Sigma. If I turn off the functionality, it does
appear.

See the picture below.
It helps you understand my problem.

Thanks a lot, you guys...

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 234404] [NEW] Scim-hangul 0.3.2 is nonexistent in the repository for Ubuntu Hardy Heron

2008-05-23 Thread SeungCheol Han
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scim-hangul

Hi, lots of guys.

I wanted to say thank you, all Ubuntu developers.
Thanks to your ceaseless efforts, my Linux life is getting better day by day. ^^

As someone might know, scim-hangul 0.3.2 has been already available since
December 30, 2008.
Unfortunately it is not currently accessible directly via Synaptic Package
Manager.
scim-hangul 0.3.1 in the repository has some serious problem for which we can't
input
the special characters. Since many users reported the problem to developer, it
was
again released with some fixes. Many Korean users are waiting for its automatic
updating by
Synaptic, not by source compiling and manual installation.

Please make sure that this problem is urgent for lots of Korean users, although
this does not
affect on others from other countries.

Thank you for your time.
Seungcheol Han

[Bug 385867] [NEW] Evolution crash with SIGSEGV

2009-06-11 Thread Han Pilmeyer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I wasn't doing anything in particular with evolution when it crashed
with SIGSEGV. However I do have schedules where I process new messages
from a local store and imap and filter these. So it could have been
during one of those actions. This happens about ones a day. Attached is
the stack backtrace of all threads.

Evolution was very stable for me under 8.10. This problem started as
soon as I upgraded to Jaunty 9.04. Currently using evolution
2.26.1-0ubuntu2.

I'm currently trying to run evolution under valgrind, but I'm not sure
that will be a workable option as it seems to slow evolution down to a
crawl.

Please let me know what I can do to help fix this issue.

all the keys worked perfectly on Ubuntu 8.04.1 AMD64.

[Bug 280526] Re: [Intrepid] Power to USB devices not killed on suspend

2008-11-05 Thread Han Pilmeyer
This is part of my dmesg.log. I also seem to have a kernel issue during
suspend/wakeup. I've only added the last part of my dmesg as the total
one is very long and messy. I could add a cleaner one if that would
help.

[Bug 390728] [NEW] evolution crash with SIGPIPE

2009-06-22 Thread Han Pilmeyer
Public bug reported:

Evolution (2.26.1-0ubuntu2) randomly crashes with SIGPIPE on Ubuntu
Jaunty 9.04. This happens a few times a week.

Crash seems to be in libORBit which unfortunately doesn't have debugging
symbols. Please let me know what I can do to help (e.g. which package to
install in order to get debugging symbol).

I'll attach the full back trace in an update to this bug.
