[Bug 1521106] [NEW] ubuntu touch: music app is draining battery
Public bug reported: This is on bq aquaris 4.5. I noticed that music app is draining battery. I guess (but I am not entirely shure) that this came with OTA-8. I did this test many times: Start a few applications (system settings, gallery, dialer), bring today scope to top, lay away the phone for a few hours. When I look at the charge level graph then, I see a horizontal line. Next, stop all apps and start music app. When a song starts to play, I immediately pause the player and bring today scope to front. Lay away the phone for 4 hours. After that, when I look at the charge level graph, the line drops with 45 degrees. When I start top (via ssh) there is no activity on the phone. music-app, media-hup, nothing pops up. [Bug 1490245] [NEW] usability issue when placing a call from today scope
Public bug reported: There are actually three issues: 1) When you hit the red Call Button, the call isn't placed, but the dialer app is startet and a number is copied to the dialer field. You have to hit the green Button. I guess this is annoying. The red button says Call not Start dialer. 2) When the call is done and you revert to the today scope, You are still in the Contact screen of the person you called. You have to hit the back button to call another favourite contact. Most (every!) time I called a person I am done with that contact. I don't need the contact details anymore. So after hitting Call it would be nice if the today scope would revert to the today main screen automatically. 3) You never see on which telephone number a person is called when you place the call from the favourites screen of the today scope. You don't see the number on the contacts screen, and the dialer app shows the name only. It would be nice, if the dialer would show something like Erwin Lindemann@office or in addition to the name (Erwin Lindemann) the number. ** Affects: dialer-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1490245 Title: usability issue when placing a call from today scope To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1490245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1474389] Re: ubuntu touch contacts app: no access to contacts on SIM
My providers name is A1 (a Austrian provider) I can navigate to settings - phone - A1 services I get an empty list there (nothing there but the title bar A1 Services). So I guess my phone can't access the services on the SIM. I don't want to import these special numbers into an address book. This is only a workaround. Right now, it is not possible to access my voice mail (special service called A1 MAILBOX) by typing MAILBOX into the contacts search field, because no service entry is shown in the list of contacts. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1474389 Title: ubuntu touch contacts app: no access to contacts on SIM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1474389/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1458771] [NEW] ubuntu touch: today scope / favourite contacts / default phone number
Public bug reported: Hi Don't know if the home scope is the correct place to complain about the missing default telephone number. But it definitely hurts most there. When you select a fav contact and hit the call button, it copies the first (I guess) number of the contact to the number field in the dialer app. This happens with gmail contacts as with local contacts. I can't find no possibility (nor in gmail nor in contacts app) to move a phone number to the top of the list or mark it as preferred or default. So this is the question: Is it possible to mark a phone number as the default phone number of a contact and does fav contacts use this number when you hit the call button? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1458771 Title: ubuntu touch: today scope / favourite contacts / default phone number To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1458771/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1458784] [NEW] ubuntu touch: today scope / favourite contacts bad integration
Public bug reported: Hi! Just two things I'd like to see in fav contacts: If you select a contact and hit the call button, it doesn't place the call, but it only opens the dialer app and copies the phone number to the input field. You have to hit the green button to place the call. I think this is annoying. If I hit the call button, I want the person to be called immediately. There is no benefit of not placing the call. There are no options in the dialer app. You just have to hit the green button. The other thing is a little inconsistency with the dialer app. If you select a contact and hit More and Open Button, you get to the properties screen of the contacts app. Contrary to that, if you select contacts in the dialer app and select a contact you first get presented a list with the persons phone numbers and icons for messages and properties. If you want to call a number you have to tap the number. I think, most time you select a contact from fav contacs, you want to contact this person and for that, it should be the same routine as in the dialer app. Most disturbing is, because you are taken to the properties of the contact, you must not tap the phone number itself, but the telephone icon at the right edge of the screen. In my opinion, first thing you should be presented after hitting the more button, is that small list as in the dialer app. Even better, forget about the more button. The list could be presented immediately. So my ideal fav. contacts screen has the red (why not green as in the dialer app) Call button, which I like and then the small list as in the dialer app (with all the contacts phone numbers and the message icons, and the contacts properties icon. ) This would hold another advantage: You see which number is called when you hit the Call button (supposed it always dials the first one from the list). Right now, you never see which type (home, work, ...) of number is called when you tap the Call Button. You don't see anything in the fav. app and the dialer app just shows the number, not the type of number. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1458784 Title: ubuntu touch: today scope / favourite contacts bad integration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1458784/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Hi guys, 14.04 is working great, but I notice this strange thing. I have a Radeon 3100 in my PC. It has two connectors, DVI and VGA. When I connect the TV set to the VGA connector everything works as it should. But after the first boot after shutting down the PC (and disconnecting the TV set) the GUI is not seamless anymore. glxgears shows FPS between 50 and 60, dropping down to 30 if dragging the window around. After the second boot it is the same. The gui is stuttering. After the third boot everything is fine. No stutter, glxgears shows 60FPS under all conditions. This is always the same. The system needs to be booted 3 times until it is recovered from the connection at the VGA port. I have added the logs, in which I can't see anything noticeable. [Bug 1290232] Re: kubuntu 14.04: graphics driver not working properly
Hi Jörg, I removed the ati-driver and did a fresh install. After reboot the driver was working well (Blur effect was on, for example). When I plugged the TV screen into the card, resolution somehow messed up, but I was able to start the Display Configuration in System Settings. I did all the adjustments and applied them. The accept dialog did not accept anything and the screen was frozen. It did not revert to the old settings, too. So I killed the X process and after that, it came up nicely and this is what I have till now. If you want to, I'll keep an eye on iy and report into this bug. regards, Hans-Peter BTW: the upgrade to 14.04 was not smooth. It stalled and I had to issue dpkg --configure all manually. [Bug 1238188] Re: [HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC] No desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy
Christopher, I've already tried this earlier in the process (tried to bisect the kernel), but failed on it. Also I guess, bisecting is not really necessary, because we know the point in time when the error arose. On the other hand, in Trusty the problem is most possible solved. My plan now is, to try the latest development release every week or so. If the issue is definitely gone, I'll report it in this bug report. Agree? Christopher, I've already done this. First of all, I tried Ubuntu. But this was not very successful. It advanced up to the 'Ubuntu' writing. [Bug 1238188] Re: [HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC] No desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy
Christopher, I tried with the latest kubuntu image. Unfortunately the desktop was not usable, because the mouse was missing and the desktop was only half build (kicker was missing...) but I was able to switch to a console screen and have a look at the /var/log/Xorg.0.log. I found a lot of entries of the RADEON driver, showing good progress. There was no warning or error. So I guess, the issue is fixed in the trusty release. [Bug 1165965] Re: External display stopped working
I can also confirm that it works more reliable with 3.12.0-031200rc6-generic (and 3.12.0-031200-generic), but it is still not perfect. I would have to ability to test it on two cases where it does not work. Both are beamers (different models, I have to check which one exactly) and both are connected over very long VGA cables. This is still an annoying bug, at least there was some progress so that it started to work again for most monitors I tried. Now it would be nice to get it working on beamers too. Can I do something to test this? I have checked the dmesg messages and there are no messages like [drm:intel_dp_i2c_aux_ch] *ERROR* too many retries, giving up what happened before kernel 3.12 (and maybe kernel 3.11.4). From xrandr output I noticed, that the DP1 connector is shown as disconnected and also no modes are shown (before kernel 3.12 there was sometimes a resolution of the external monitor detected). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165965 Title: External display stopped working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1165965/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1238188] Re: [HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC] No desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy
Christopher, I went to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+source/linux/ and followed the link show build which brought me to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+source/linux/+builds. There I found i386 build of linux 3.11.0-8.15 in ubuntu saucy on September 20th should be the one, which was working for me. I got the packages from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/3.11.0-8.15 (4 packages, 2 headers, image, image-extra) and installed them. After booting this kernel hp@hp:~$ uname -a Linux hp 3.11.0-8-generic #15-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 20 04:11:16 UTC 2013 i686 athlon i686 GNU/Linux hp@hp:~$ desktop effects were not available still. This leads to two questions: 1) Was the 3.11.0-8.15 kernel included in the saucy upgrade distribution package when I upgraded to saucy on Sep.25? If not, how can I find out which one was included? I could also try the previous and the next kernel to that one. 2) What makes us believe the problem lies in the kernel and e.g. not in the X server area? regards, Hans-Peter -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1238188 Title: [HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC] No desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1238188/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I guess they quit support for the 3100 a year ago, or maybe two (or they messed something up) + --- + ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu1 + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: hp 2266 F pulseaudio + CurrentDmesg: + Error: command ['sh', '-c', 'dmesg | comm -13 --nocheck-order /var/log/dmesg -'] failed with exit code 1: comm: /var/log/dmesg: Permission denied + dmesg: write failed: Broken pipe + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-02-02 (616 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release i386 (20111012) + IwConfig: + tap0 no wireless extensions. + + lono wireless extensions. + + eth0 no wireless extensions. + MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor + MarkForUpload: True + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcFB: 0 radeondrmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-12-generic root=UUID=b24e5fc5-5982-48e7-b75f-478074b4687e ro elevator=noop quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 + RfKill: + + Tags: saucy + Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic i686 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-09-27 (13 days ago) + UserGroups: admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + WifiSyslog: + + dmi.bios.date: 10/26/2009 + dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.bios.version: 786F6 v03.10 + dmi.board.name: 3029h + dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: CZC84019NW + dmi.chassis.type: 4 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvr786F6v03.10:bd10/26/2009:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPCompaqdc5850SmallFormFactor:pvr:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn3029h:rvr:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct4:cvr: + dmi.product.name: HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor + dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard ** Attachment added: AlsaInfo.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1238188/+attachment/3874415/+files/AlsaInfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1238188 Title: no desktop effects on a radeon 3100 graphics card in saucy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1238188/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
