[Bug 500613] Re: Monitor brightness can not be controlled by hotkeys
xev correctly recognizes the buttons as XF86MonBrightnessDown and XF86MonBrightnessUp. [Bug 509329] [NEW] Both monitors are set too low resolution when second monitor is attached from system start
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I have a laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-SR51MF/S) which I use together with an external monitor (Benq G2410HD). I'm running Kubuntu Lucid (development version, latest updates installed). The video card is an Ati Monility Radeon 4530 HD; i'm using the xserver-xorg-video-ati drivers. When looking at Screen settings, there is printed (Auto) after the correct native resolutions for both the laptop screen as the external monitor. What the system does when booting while the HDMI cable is already connected and the external monitor is switched on, is that it enables the external monitor in clone mode (which is good), but it sets both displays to 1024x768. This resolution is lower than both the native resolution of my laptop (1280x800) and the native resolution of my external monitor (which is 1920x1080). What I would expect that if the system can detect which resolution is the native resolution, it would enable clone mode and set the resolutions to the respective *native resolutions* instead of setting them both to 1024x768. [Bug 506952] [NEW] krunner's input dialog is frozen sometimes
Public bug reported: I'm using Kubuntu lucid, all updates installed. Sometimes after using KRunner to start an application, the last entered command (first letters + autocomplete in grey) remains there frozen. When pressing Alt-F2, the input field should be cleared and it should be possible to enter new text. Instead, the last entered command (first letters + autocomplete in grey) is still there and there is also no cursor. When typing text, the extender comes down and shows the good programs, but the input field is not updated graphically. [Bug 501478] [NEW] Qt reports wrong Qt::Launch* key

Press a key which generates XF86Launch4. Qt will think Qt::Key_Launch6 is pressed. Maybe other keys were shifted, too, but I could not check that. [Bug 497092] [NEW] suggest packages to be installed when a device is plugged in
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace When an (usb) device is plugged in, the computer now only responds correctly if the right software is installed. For example, it might propose to import photos when a camera was attached or to sync music files when a mp3 player was connected. But if this software is not installed, the computer does not know what to do with it and the user might not know what software to install. In most cases, the user will know what to install, but it would be very handy if the computer would suggest a few drawing programs (Krita for example) when plugging in a tablet or if the computer would suggest to install spacenavd when a 3DConnexxion SpaceNavigator was installed. There could be written an addition to the Device Notifier Plasmoid (possibly based on solid and packagekit?) that has a list of devices and a list of corresponding packages that might be interesting for the user that plugs in such a device. This addition might then list the device that is plugged in and add an action to the plasmoid that lets the user install the software. Another idea is to notify the user via the Notification Plasmoid, like this is already done for Konqueror (which proposes to install extra packages for multimedia functionality). The device list should probably be based on usb ids and not on device classes, because some cameras or mp3 players are recognised as hard drives, while they are more than that. ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- suggest packages to be installed when a device is plugged in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-workspace in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 50692] Re: New Sony Vaios hotkeys don't work (fn_key polling)
I have this problem, too, on my Vaio VGN-SR51MF/S. The volume hotkeys and brightness hotkeys work, but the following hotkeys do not work: - The zoom out / in buttons (Fn+F9; Fn+F10) - The Mode hotkey, which in windows lets the user choose from three activity hotkey sets (work, play and settings) - The first 4 Activity hotkeys do work, but the fifth (the one which is most to the right) does not - The Settings hotkey which lets the user assign other actions to these sets The Sleep and Switch LCD/External monitor do work, but in KDE, I could not find a hotkey setting to which I could assign these hotkeys. I attached my DSDT file, because the earlier mentioned forum thread seams to be dead. ** Attachment added: "DSDT file" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36229178/VGN-SR51MF_S-R4090Y1.dsdt.tar.gz -- New Sony Vaios hotkeys don't work (fn_key polling) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 484408] [NEW] kdm sometimes tries to login without asking for credentials and then stops at the hard disk icon
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace I am running Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.3.3 from PPA. This bug was also present before I used the updated KDE. Sometimes when I boot my computer, KDM does not ask for my credentials (I did not set up autologin). Instead it tries to log in on its own showing the KDE loading screen, but then it stops after it showed the hard disk icon (normally the tools icon and the loading other icons would show up after the hard disk icon). The computer does respond to user input, though, because I can press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and click shutdown or reboot, so the mouse and keyboard are working. Rebooting the computer helps, but this is not the way it should behave of course ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kdm sometimes tries to login without asking for credentials and then stops at the hard disk icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/484408 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-workspace in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 482619] [NEW] samba often fails to download complete files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba I am running Kubuntu 9.10, all packages up to date. The version of the samba package and related packages is 3.4.0-3ubuntu5.1 My problem is that when I copy large files from my university network to my laptop (using e.g. dolphin), the copying stops and I get an error that the file could not be read. The file is still available then. The KDE file copying service has no resume functionality when I try to copy it again, so this is very frustrating. When I use smbget -r to download a file, it stops downloading too after a while, but I can resume it using this tool. The error smbget returns is "Can't read 64000 bytes at offset X" (X being some large number depending how much of the file is downloaded already). I did not try to copy files to the university network. I connect to that network using openvpn. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- samba often fails to download complete files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482619 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
