I get the same problem since I installed the latest 64bit version (not powerpc; x86_64 generic kernel) of raring. [Bug 1095962] Re: Empathy GUI does not start
I just did a clean install of raring and also observed that the empathy GUI does not come up. This seems to be connected with the option '-h', which is how I put it into the autostart list.
