[Bug 1884079] [NEW] unmkinitramfs in initramfs-tools-core doesn't fully extract an initrd in bionic
Public bug reported: I am running Ubuntu 18.04.4 I am looking at the initrd found in the desktop live cd (/casper/initrd). If you execute `binwalk initrd`, binwalk informs that the initrd file contains 2 cpio archives and a lzma archive The first cpio archive is supposed to contain kernel/x86/microcode/AuthenticAMD.bin The second cpio archive is supposed to contain kernel/x86/microcode/GenuineIntel.bin The third file is a LZMA compressed data Now, if you execute `unmkinitramfs /casper/initrd new- directory` , you will see 2 directories, "early" and "main". "early" has the AuthenticAMD.bin, which means it corresponds to the first cpio. "main" is the actual initial ram disk file system, which comes from the LZMA compressed data. What I expect to see is also the GenuineIntel.bin firmware. `binwalk` says it's there, but `unmkinitramfs` is not able to extract it out. Why? I see binwalk is at version 2.1.1-16, while initramfs-tools-core (which provides unmkinitramfs) is at version 0.130ubuntu3.9. How do I extract the ubuntu 18 initramfs and get all the contents that binwalk is able to see? ** Affects: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: initrd ** Summary changed: - unmkinitramfs in initramfs-tools-core doesn't fully extract an initrd + unmkinitramfs in initramfs-tools-core doesn't fully extract an initrd in bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1884079 Title: unmkinitramfs in initramfs-tools-core doesn't fully extract an initrd in bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1884079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1748310] Re: [SRU][xenial]boot stalls looking for entropy in FIPS mode
Hi Robie, For any kernel shipped by Canonical (excluding the Canonical FIPS kernel), /proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled file does not exist. The kernel has to be compiled with "CONFIG_CRYPTO_FIPS" for the file to be even created and then based on the kernel command line parameters fips=1 or fips=0, the kernel sets value in that file. This is done only by a FIPS kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1748310 Title: [SRU][xenial]boot stalls looking for entropy in FIPS mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgcrypt20/+bug/1748310/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hence FIPS code paths are always executed on a FIPS enabled machine. In FIPS mode, it runs self tests and integrity checks and it looks for quality entropy from /dev/random. Additionally in desktop environments, gnome keyring daemon also queries libgcrypt for /dev/random entropy, slowing down the GUI startup. On encrypted installations, cryptsetup uses libgcrypt20. [Bug 1460507] [NEW] Hibernate fails if resume is done after X hours (X ~ 3+ hours)
Public bug reported: I have a strange issue but I'm not the only one (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2280045). My hardware is Lenovo t450s with intel Hd 5500. Suspend works fine (Although I haven't tested a long sleep yet). Intel rapidstart is disabled in BIOS. Hibernate saves to disk and resumes fine if I do the wakeup within a few hours. Any long-term hibernates (12 hours) don't resume. The splash screen shows up and then a blank screen and unresponsive keyboard. I don't have a capslock key, so don't know if that is flashing. I have been on multiple kernels 3.16,3.18,3.19 and 4.0 now. All of them have shown this problem. If there are any specific debugs that I could gather to help narrow down the issue, I would appreciate the guidance. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 899580 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899580 This is a fully featured video editor for Linux, with timelines, effects, custom screens, ability to break detach audio from video. If you are having problems installing due to an error in MLT module, do the following to install this properly (tested with Ubuntu Oneiric 11.10). First open a new terminal and remove Kdenlive if you have installed it already: sudo apt-get remove kdenlive Now let's a personal package archive to Ubuntu from one of the developers of kdenlive (which contains the correct version of MLT): sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sunab/kdenlive-svn Next, lets get Ubuntu to fetch the latest distributions of the PPAs: sudo apt-get update Let's install those latest greatest package upgrades: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Finally, lets install kdenlive (again): sudo apt-get install kdenlive And...now let's run it with kdenlive Easy peasy when you know how, right? [Bug 708308] Re: [natty] can't connect to groupwise server: Servname not supported for ai_socktype
I could solve this by adding entries in the /etc/services For me groupwise was connecting to 1677 port. Hence I added the following two entries and everything became OK: groupwise 1677/tcp groupwise 1677/udp In Natty, there seems to be a restriction for evolution to go against ports that are not defined in /etc/services. I hope you can also solve it by adding the above two entries (change the port number if your groupwise server is in a different port). Hope this helps.
