[Bug 1220146] Re: Ralink Mediatek 14c3:7630 wi-fi card isn't supported out of the box

2015-03-23 Thread Heinz Werner Kramski
@Ievgen: No BIOS problems, no driver problems, I simply swapped the
hardware. Bluetooth and WiFi work out of the box.

May be specific to my model (HP Probook 430 G1), as the very similar
Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN is listed as a spare part in the
maintenance guide.

[Bug 1220146] Re: Need support for new Ralink Wifi card - Mediatek 7630 [14c3:7630]

2014-08-26 Thread Heinz Werner Kramski
I noticed that http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads/mt7630-pcie/ now
offers a new driver version: MT7630E_Wi-
Fi_BT_Source_V3.14_20140625_v2.tar.gz (instead of MT7630E_Wi-
Fi_BT_Source_V3.14_20140625.tar).

I was able to run make, but load.sh hangs my machine on insmod
./rt2800pci.ko.

So current choices are: Old driver as of 20140625: Working but constant
100% cpu load. New v2 driver: Not working.

Will stick to my noname WLAN stick for now...

If the existing driver successfully gets ported, will this also enable
the Bluetooth part or only the wlan device?

[Bug 614581] [NEW] Unable to switch to presentation view

2010-08-06 Thread Heinz Werner Kramski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: abiword

On Ubuntu 10.04.1 using Abiword 2.8.2-2ubuntu1.1, I am unable to switch
to  to presentation view.

When selecting Ansicht / Presentation (probably View / Presentation
in English), nothing happens.

When started from a terminal window, the following error message is
displayed in that case:

kram...@gondl:~$ abiword

** (abiword:4192): WARNING **: Got plain filename
/usr/share/abiword-2.8/Presentation.xml in UT_go_file_open.

Also occurs on a different machine running Xubuntu 10.04.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Bug 152712] /etc/init.d/mwavem: Call to non-existing function log_progess_msg (typo)

2007-10-14 Thread Heinz Werner Kramski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mwavem

The stop branch of /etc/init.d/mwavem contains two references to a
non-existing function log_progess_msg, so it fails all the time. This
probably is a typo and should read log_progress_msg.

I'm using mwavem 2.0-2 on feisty (7.04).

   Heinz

[Bug 152724] mwavem crashes on Thinkpad 600E when trying to dial

2007-10-14 Thread Heinz Werner Kramski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mwavem

I have problems with the ACP Modem (mwave) in an old ThinkPad 600E.

I don't know if this is a problem with my specific hardware setup or if
it really is a bug in the mwavem package itself, so I'm reporting it
here just to let the maintainers know.

The mwave module loads fine. The mwavem daemon (2.0-2) starts
successfully, too.

However, I am unable to make any calls to an internet provider. Every time the
modem tries to dial
a number, the mwavem process crashes. On the other hand, the modem replies to
simple commands like ATZ
or ATI3, so the general (serial) setup seems to be ok.

When I start mwavem manually (not using /etc/init.d/mwavem) to better
see the error messages, all looks well:

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# /usr/sbin/mwavem /etc/mwavem/mwavem.conf
   Initializing mwave manager...
   Initializing modem specific code...
   Got configured startup speed:  64000...

   Checking configured speed...
   Setting modem speed...
   Loading modem DSP...
   mwave modem, STARTED...

In another terminal, I can now use minicom to successfully talk to the
modem...

   Welcome to minicom 2.2

   OPTIONS: I18n
   Compiled on Mar  7 2007, 15:10:03.
   Port /dev/ttyS1

   OK
   ati3
   ThinkPad Modem v4.0
   OK
   atz
   OK

... until I try for example

   atdt1234

which immediately leads to

   Segmentation fault (core dumped)

on my first terminal.

(With some tracing enabled via mwavem.conf, the last lines read:

mwmload::mwmLoadDialToModem entry
mwmpool::mwmPoolAllocateCoreChunk entry
mwmpool::mwmPoolTransferControlBlock entry
mwmpool::mwmPoolTransferControlBlock exit

mwmload::mwmLoadDialToModem ulFeaturesToLoad 1912d4ea hmodV34 0
mwmload::mwmLoadV34 entry

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Looks like mwavem dies when loading something like
/usr/share/mwavem/v34.dsp into memory.)

Things I tried so far:

  - checked for hardware conflicts using the bios configuration utility ps2.exe
  - tried a non-default hardware (irq etc.) setup for serial-a and modem (IR
port is disabled)
  - excluded irq 3 and 10 in /etc/pcmcia/config.opts, so the pcmcia handler
does not touch them
  - disabled all sound related modules
  - compiled and tried my own ACP Modem (Mwave) Driver for Linux
(mwavem-2.0.tar.gz) from Sourgeforge
without luck.

I'm running the latest firmware available (INET36WW = 1.16, 11/20/99)
and feisty (7.04). My boot options include acpi=off pci=noacpi
pnpbios=off vga=0x317.

   Heinz
