[Bug 305369] Re: soundKonverter stopped working after upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10

2011-06-11 Thread HessiJames
I'm marking this bug as invalid because soundkonverter 1.0.0 is already
released and doesn't include the KDE audio CD protocol ripper backend anymore.
soundkonverter 0.3.x bugs won't be fixed.

[Bug 691100] Re: Replay gain in soundkonverter broken

2011-06-11 Thread HessiJames
Hi, could you please test it again with version 1.0.0 of soundkonverter.
I actually was wrong about Replay Gain tags in mp3 files. Because unlike pretty
much every other replay gain calculator mp3gain changes the audio data and
stores undo information in frame tags.

2011-04-24 Thread HessiJames
That's much better :)
The bitrate problem is fixed now.
But as you pointed out, the aac and mp4/m4a formats are handled wrong.
This is a little bit more complicated but I'm on it.

[Bug 691100] Re: Replay gain in soundkonverter broken

2010-12-23 Thread HessiJames
I'll need to have a more detailed look at the replay gain feature, there are
some things that could be optimized.
But theoretically it should work. lame should calculate the replay gain value
and add it to the mp3 file.
Please keep in mind that replay gain is just a loudness correction offset saved
to a tag. Your audio player has to support this replay gain tag in order to
adjust the loudness. The audio data itself won't be changed so comparing the
two files in audacity shouldn't show any difference if it's working.

[Bug 691100] Re: Replay gain in soundkonverter broken

2010-12-18 Thread HessiJames
Please follow these steps:
1. Try to convert the file with the Replay Gain checkbox checked.
2. Then open the Log Viewer by clicking on Conversion in the menu bar and
selecting View logs
... The Log Viewer will now open in a new window.
3. By default the Log Viewer will show the log of the soundKonverter
application, sending me this log won't hurt.
4. But the more important log is the log for the file you just tried to convert
in step 1. To see that log, click on the combo box (drop down box) at the top
of the Log Viewer window and select the file.
5. To save a log to a file, click on the Save to file... button on the bottom
of the Log Viewer.
6. Attache latter or both log files to your bug report.

btw. please include the full soundkonverter version number, there are
too many 0.9.x versions.

[Bug 688986] Re: --invisible/--autostart/--autoclose do not appear to be working

2010-12-18 Thread HessiJames
I would like to know the cause myself, but again - just to be sure - did you
call soundkonverter with the right --profile argument?
It's not '--medium' but 'Medium' - just the way it's displayed in the GUI.
Because calling soundkonverter with the wrong profile makes it quit instantly
here, too.

[Bug 688986] Re: --invisible/--autostart/--autoclose do not appear to be working

2010-12-14 Thread HessiJames
Ok, try:

  command = ['soundkonverter', '--autostart', '--autoclose',
'--format', 'mp3',
'--profile', 'Medium',
'--output', dest_dir]

--autoclose simply won't have an effect at the moment, but it will be
fixed in the next release.

Or:

  command = ['soundkonverter', '--invisible',
'--format', 'mp3',
'--profile', 'Medium',
'--output', dest_dir]

This will properly close soundkonverter after the conversion has been
completed. During the conversion the main window will be hidden and a
system tray icon will be shown.

2010-12-13 Thread HessiJames
Please make sure that you have passed all arguments necessary to convert the
file (--profile,--format,--output).
Also make sure you only pass absolute file paths.
I just tested it and it works for me.

e.g.:
soundkonverter --profile High --format mp3 --output /home/daniel/ --autostart
/home/daniel/soundKonverter/01-Unknown.wav

Btw, the --autoclose feature won't work with your version, I just fixed
that.

To clarify this, I meant that the soundkonverter window wasn't closing with
--autoclose enabled, so you ran into another problem.
It would be helpful, if you could provide the complete soundkonverter call with
all parameters.
At the moment I'm not sure what you are trying to do.

[Bug 422318] Re: soundkonverter does not create icon in device manager pop up, kde4.3

2009-10-08 Thread HessiJames
the missing icons could be copied to /usr/share/icons/... by the ubuntu
packager (which i am not).
but since soundkonverter 0.3 is a kde3 app, i don't think this has a high
priority.

second, did you set the conversion options before adding the files? if
you already added the files, you can change the conversion options by
selecting the files and right click - edit conversion options.

maybe a file size check would be good as short a term solution.

[Bug 371849] Re: system crashes when converting audio files

2009-05-04 Thread HessiJames
sounds bad. but i can't imagine that this is soundkonverter's fault.
the worst thing that soundkonverter can do is eat up ram or block the cpu (and
both should be handled by linux).
so i would think it's more like a driver fault. have you tried converting that
files only on the ext4 partition (ntfs always sounds suspicious - but i really
have no idea). or what happens if you stress the system with another app -
maybe video encoding.

yes, for security reasons, linux has permissions. if you want to write elswhere
than your home directory you need to do that as the root user.
save the file 145.ffmpeg.soundkonverter.xml to your home directory (eg.
/home/dietmar/145.ffmpeg.soundkonverter.xml)
press [alt]+[f2]
type konsole, press [enter]
type sudo cp /home/dietmar/145.ffmpeg.soundkonverter.xml
/usr/share/apps/soundkonverter/plugins/, press [enter]
now you should be asked for the root password
restart soundkonverter

[Bug 348129] Re: soundkonverter doesn't codec wave to mp3

2009-04-02 Thread HessiJames
have you looked at your local kde directory?
there is a global (eg. /usr/share/kde) and you local (eg. /home/dietmar/.kde);
the tilt (~) is just your home directoy.
and i made a mistake, the directory is log, not logs. so please have a look at:
~/.kde/share/apps/soundkonverter/log
and post the newes log file plus the 1000.log

[Bug 348129] Re: soundkonverter doesn't codec wave to mp3

2009-04-01 Thread HessiJames
when you try to convert a file from wave to mp3, soundkonverter saves a
log file in ~/.kde/share/apps/soundkonverter/logs, please post that file
(be aware that soundkonverter deletes it when it exits).

2008-12-05 Thread HessiJames
could you please have a look at the settings and post which backend is used for
ripping. at the same time you could try to use another backend.
supported are the kde audiocd io, cdda2wav and cdparanoia (you may need to
install these packages on your system).

2008-10-29 Thread HessiJames
i think i found the problem, you can check out the new (attached) script if you
want.
please note that i changed the handling of special characters a little bit in
the upcoming version 0.3.9, so most special characters should work then, too.

[Bug 254600] Re: no audio cd found

2008-08-05 Thread HessiJames
ok, could you run soundkonverter from konsole, try to add audio cd tracks and
post the output.
also you could post the output of 'dcop kded mediamanager fullList' (only the -
maybe last - block with media/audiocd in it is needed) maybe that could help,
too.
and you could try to play the audio cd with kaffeine (that's where i got the
code for audio cd detection from).
and yes, i understand you ;) i'm not a native speaker either.

[Bug 223472] Re: soundkonverter creates oggs instead when you want flacs

2008-04-28 Thread HessiJames
sorry but i can't reproduce it with version 0.3.7. you could send me the log
files (in ~/.kde/share/apps/soundkonverter/log/).
please clean the directory first, to not send me old logs and send me the logs
before closing soundkonverter (it should delete the logs then).
i'll try to reproduce it with version 0.3.6 later.

[Bug 114848] Re: soundkonverter outputs to where?

2007-05-21 Thread HessiJames
You should have set up the output directory before the conversion. When the
file was added to the queue list, the output location should be shown in the
output column.
The output file name in the log file is just a temporary location.
If you didn't change the output directory in the options tab at the top, you
can click the filemanager icon to open konqueror with the location of the
output file.

hope it helps you.

[Bug 104782] Re: can't change output format in soundknverter once files are selected

2007-04-25 Thread HessiJames
hi,
it depends on which version of soundkonverter you are using.
the current 0.3.x versions are designed to set the output parameters before
adding the files to the queue list (there you can see the output options).
e.g. after adding some files that should be converter to ogg you can freely add
other files, that should be converter to mp3.
if you wish to change the output options after adding the files you can
right-click on the file in the file list and select options.

it seems that this way is not very intuitive for many people. i'll try
to find a better solution in future versions.
