Would totally agree. This is a real bug as we have around 25% of users hit
in a corporate environment. It didn't happen with other releases.

[Bug 1238410] Re: Inconsistent cursor visibility with cursor plugin enabled

2013-12-24 Thread Ian McDonald
Previously I had the issue and could replicate by shutting lid on laptop
and then open.

Upgraded xserver-org-common and xserver-org-core from proposed and this
has resolved the issue.

[Bug 616322] Re: Okular should depend on poppler-data

2010-08-25 Thread Ian McDonald
I would strongly go for Depends. It's clear that there is quite a few
PDFs that don't render correctly without it and it doesn't create a good
impression.

[Bug 616321] [NEW] Evince should depend on poppler-data

2010-08-11 Thread Ian McDonald
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and find a number of PDFs do not render
correctly. After doing some analysis and working with people I found
that this is because the poppler-data package is not installed. Once
this is installed the issue goes away.

As such I believe the evince package should change from suggesting
poppler-data to depending on it.

** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 274179] Re: Review Firewall message when trying to set up network printer

2010-05-05 Thread Ian McDonald
I also have this error message in Lucid Lynx. Steps to reproduce :
- Try to add network printer by selecting Windows Printer via Samba. Put in a
Samba workgroup (either non-existent or in my case existent).
- You see the error message

As a side note can anyone tell me where the firewall settings actually
are in case this is my problem as I can't add a printer at present.

[Bug 344074] Re: openoffice.org-emailmerge expects openoffice.org-java-common

I think the error message should say what adding Java does or doesn't do
for this package so the user can make an informed decision. Or get rid
of the error message...

How do I install a Hardy kernel on my Gutsy machine without upgrading
to Hardy alpha/betas? If necessary just point me at a source code tree
as I am a kernel developer :-)

It has disappeared since I changed the settings in /proc/acpi/*/DOS
from 4. I was changing to 1 but I suspect that the kernel code changes
it to 0 actually.

I am seeing this too. There is also a comment at top of
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=587390page=3 - I am testing
this and seeing if it affects it or not.

I will update when I can (don't use this machine much with Ubuntu)
