[Bug 958408] Re: skype causing NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000028 in kernel
I tried linux-3.0.0-16.29 kernel just as you asked and didn't manage to reproduce the bug. But the point is that I cannot figure out the necessary steps to reproduce it on 3.2.0-19 either. It just happened some times when I played test sound in skype and via aplay (first through pluse then through hw devices) simultaneously. So I cannot be sure it is a regression. The reason I think it has something to do with skype is because it appeared in dmesg in a backtrace just below NULL pointer dereference message. Right now I managed to get sound in skype by installing libasound2-plugins:i386 that ships alsa plugin for pulseaudio and the problem seems to be gone. But anyway I don't think it is ok that the absence of user-level library causes null pointer issues in kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/958408 Title: skype causing NULL pointer dereference at 0028 in kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/958408/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 511585] Re: Unable to start pump server because of python version mismatch
I totally agree with you, guys, - I hate hardcoding myself. But meanwhile shouldn't we have a hackish fix that just works (tm) while Debian/Ubuntu Python team proposes a robust policy on how to deal with such problems? Seen from my perspective ignoring this issue because hardcoding is bad is not a way to go either - casual users need distcc to work out of the box regardless of how it is packaged and don't bother creating dirty symlinks/patching the source on their own. I suggest the following: 1. fix this issue with a hack (either with my patch or any other way) 2. create another one describing the python version hardcoding problem and handle it separately; this issue can address several packages at once (I don't think pump-distcc is that special with this problem) Meanwhile users can enjoy the power of pupm-distcc. -- Unable to start pump server because of python version mismatch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511585 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 451947] [NEW] Version bump request (1.2.0)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: php-codesniffer Since 17 Aug 2009 the current stable version of php codesniffer is 1.2.0. Both stable (Jaunty) and pre-release (Karmic) packages are still of version 1.1.0. That version has some problems with Zend coding standard which render the package useless and make users fall back to pear installer. ** Affects: php-codesniffer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Version bump request (1.2.0) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/451947 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
