[Bug 2067141] [NEW] ubuntu 24.04 - Wayland - i915 firmware not loaded correctly

2024-05-25 Thread Ionut Negru
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from Ubuntu 23.10 to Ubuntu 24.04, I could no longer use
Wayland. Logging in with Wayland resulted in a black screen.

A potential cause of the issue was that the update-initramfs procedure
reported some missing i915 modules.

The folder /lib/firmware/i915 contained all the modules in a compressed
format (.zst files), but the system was unable to load them.

I manually copied the uncompressed versions from the 10th of April,
downloaded from linux-firmware.git, and the system, including Wayland,
started working again.

I believe this issue might be related to the compressed modules option,
and perhaps someone knows how to resolve it without this workaround

[Bug 1970426] Re: screen suddenly starts flickering after update

2022-04-30 Thread Ionut Negru
In my case I think it flickers badly because of the "Night Light"
feature that is not working properly. Once I disable the feature, the
flicker is less annoying.

[Bug 1963264] Re: Gnome screen recorder doesn't work on dist-upgraded jammy systems

2022-04-28 Thread Ionut Negru
Hi,

I have encountered the same issue after upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04.

For me the fix was to reinstall the `gstreamer1.0-pipewire` package.

`sudo apt reinstall gstreamer1.0-pipewire`

Regards

[Bug 1654448] Re: Dell XPS 13 9350/9360 headphone audio hiss

2019-10-12 Thread Ionut Negru
The same happen with my XPS 13. Since a couple of days I have noticed
this annoying hiss. I use Ubuntu 19.04.

The workaround also fixes the issue for me (amixer -c 0 set 'Headphone
Mic Boost',0 1)

Regards

[Bug 1666681] Re: Restore interactive_search.patch (type-ahead search)

2018-03-15 Thread Ionut Negru
OMFG, being an Ubuntu (patched Nautilus that is) user for more than 9
years I thought this was a bug with 17.10 and patiently waited for a fix
... can't agree more with "complete idiots"

This is not a huge, complex and hard to maintain feature that you just
decide it is too difficult to support. Is this a mirror of the next "de-
generation" of products?

OMFG

[Bug 1495817] Re: Display port stopped working with update to kernel 3.19.0.28

2015-09-17 Thread Ionut Negru
It this is a kernel bug then booting an older kernel should avoid this
issue, right? I have tried on a 3.19.0.25 kernel and the issue is still
there. I have also installed v3.19.8-ckt6 and the display port issue is
still there.
