[Bug 826386] Re: No backlight display Acer Aspire 5734Z

2011-08-21 Thread Isa Dsouza
The problem needs to be fixed, I am scared that in the next release
11.10 the old kernel 2.6.35-30 will be wiped out & I will no longer be
able to boot into Ubuntu. I know its free but to be a challenger is one
thing, Ubuntu can be the champion, with bugs like this I dont see a
future. I may have to actually pay Microsoft for their equally buggy
software. but at least they dont have basic problems like display
faults.

[Bug 830907] [NEW] Kernel Version 2.6.38-11 Backlight Problem

2011-08-22 Thread Isa Dsouza
Public bug reported:

The OS boots fine into Ubuntu Natty however the Kernel Version 2.6.38-11
I am using has a dark backlight. I can see the login screen but is very
dark. The fix for this seems to be to use the brightness control on my
Emachines E725 while in the bootloader, during boot. Holding the Fn +
increase brightness key gives the desired results.

[Bug 826386] Re: No backlight display Acer Aspire 5734Z

2011-08-30 Thread Isa Dsouza
On my emachine e725 while in the bootloader itself I press the Fn + >
keys. This is a brightness control that actually works & Ubuntu boots
fine with the Kernel Version 2.6.38-11, Please refer to Bug #830907 for
more details from apport.

[Bug 589655] Re: .ICEauthority and gconf-sanity-check-2 problems on login DOMAIN account

2011-08-07 Thread Isa Dsouza
I get the same ICEauthority and gconf-sanity-check-2 problem for Ubuntu
11.04 after logging in & the worst is that none of the applications open
& terminal commands are not working to fix this. the terminal does not
even show up in the list, have to use CTRL ALT F1 to open it. The
environment has changed from unity to gnome. the only thing I did was
change my user account profile from custom to administrator, also
removed Nautilus & replaced with Thunar as home folder was not
responding. now nothing opens.
